About this property

River Front Cabin on 1 acre - 14 Minutes to Downtown Durango

‘Our 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom single level cabin is on 1 acre and sits directly on the Florida River offering privacy and seclusion along with amazing fishing. The cabin is adjacent to BLM land offering even more river frontage to the west. There is also a small neighborhood lake just a short walk away that features a beach and more fishing as well as paddle boarding etc.

Its hard to believe the cabin is less then 15 minutes from historic downtown Durango.

The cabin has a fantastic covered deck next to the river and features all the standard amenities including super fast Starlink WIFI, Cable TV, washer/dryer and nostalgic western memorabilia as well as amazing paintings the owner painted.

Consistent with most Colorado mountain resorts, the cabin does not offer air-conditioning. Additionally, the cabin is not pet friendly, so please do not bring the furry friends.

Book at least a week and a 10% discount is automatically applied (Excludes Christmas/New Years).

Stay with us and we offer DISCOUNTS on both summer (white water rafting, horseback riding etc.) and winter (ski/snowboard rentals, sleigh rides, snowmobile tours etc.) activities.

Please note that, like most properties in the area, this home does not have AC, as it is uncommon for homes at this elevation. Temperatures inside the property are easily managed by using fans and opening the windows at night when temperatures drop into the 40s.

Excellent Stay - Any Season

We loved this property and the cabin itself. The only thing was the listing showed photos of a room with 2 bunk beds but there were only 3 double beds available, so one kiddo slept on the couch. He enjoyed sleeping by the fire though,so it all worked out.

We loved the cabin and it was perfect for our family. The kids loved playing in the creek and exploring and my husband and I loved our morning coffee on the back porch while listening to the creek. Best VRBO rental experience we’ve had yet!

Beautiful location!!!

The pictures of the property do NOT do it justice! To be right on the river and catch trout in the backyard was an amazing experience for our family. The home was comfortable and had everything we needed. We had a great time and enjoyed our experience there. If we ever vacation in Durango in the future, I’d definitely stay at this home again!

The property is gorgeous. The house is well stocked and has every kitchen gadget you could think of. There are well taken care of ponds and a little beach you get access to. It’s worth every bit they charge. Well priced for what you get.

Rushing stream.

Loved the location and the rushing stream just off the porch. Great place to enjoy that morning coffee and in the Colorado mountains. Catching a few trout made it even better. Nice home and location.

Family vacation

My husband and I, and my mother, spent five days in Durango. The Between the Waters home was a perfect fit for us. The river just steps from the back deck made for soothing time to just sit and enjoy, both the river and the cool weather. The home itself had plenty of room for the three of us.

Spring vacation

Great cozy home. The location was good for getting to town. I wish the river had more flow to it so we could have fished. That being said it was still the end of winter and things were still frozen. All in all it was a great trip. I would definitely stay here again.

Fantastic spot

Great location to Durango and all the other sites in the area. If you're looking for a quiet escape, this is it - just sit out on the back porch and immerse yourself in the 24x7 sounds of the rolling Florida river just steps away. The property management was very attentive and responded quickly if needed. We had absolutely no issues with this unit and would love to return in the future.

Between the Waters stay

The house is set 30 feet from the creek and is so lovely. The sound of the creek is so enjoyable from the deck, inside when the screen in used and will lull you to sleep in your bed. The evergreens in the area make the air smell so fresh. The house was clean and has been decorarated in a Western and Native American motif. We loved all the decorations. We spent quite a lot of time playing cards on the deck. It was quality family time. There are many things to do in the area and downtown Durango is really cool! The only drawback was the uncomfortable futon in the guest room. We even bought a pad to make it softer but it needs to be replaced with a real comfortable bed.

Family Vacation

The property is in a great location next to the Florida River just steps from the patio. The property was clean with nice amenities inside, however the outside needs cleaning. IE, power washing the patio because of the cob webs and bird droppings. Landscaping was not maintained and was over grown. Cell phone coverage was non existent which wouldn’t have been a problem but the house phone and WiFi were also not working. We did contact property management after arriving with no resolution the entire week of our stay, even after repeated inquiries. This wouldn’t have been a problem but with no cell reception a local land line was needed in case of emergencies. Other than the few issues it was a wonderful stay.

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The river out back is the best feature - really nice to sit on that deck. The house itself is cluttered, beds are very uncomfortable, and the kitchen is stuffed with gadgets and utensils from the 1980s. Clear out the junk, replace with better beds, and drop the price. As it is, it's way too far from Durango (15-20 minutes drive) and the house itself is not comfortable enough to be worth this price. Won't return, don't recommend. PS: Figure out the actual trash deal - the neighbors have had to pay over $400 for the collection of trash left near their trash "on the opposite side of the road" per the house instructions.
