Purple Juniper: Downtown, 4 Blocks to Main, Delightful with Sunny Front Deck

Bedrooms 2
Space 650 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 5 nights

About the property

Permit 2012-110

The Purple Juniper is an updated and inviting half-duplex four blocks to Main Ave. The home faces a sunny and quiet neighborhood street. It has an open floor plan with an updated bathroom and kitchen. The bathroom is fully tiled. The kitchen has granite countertops and is equipped with everything needed to make a multi-course meal or a simple smoothie.

The kitchen and living room are connected by a granite island with three seats. Additional dining seating in the Summer is a four-seat table on the front deck. The bedrooms have a queen bed in one room and two twins in the second room. All beds are solid, plush, and comfortable. Evaporative cooling in the Summer additionally provides for restful nights.

The adjacent duplex unit's primary access and activity is to the back of the house with the vacation rental having dedicated use of the front deck and grill.

When you arrive, you will have a combination to enter the home. I am readily available to help as much as needed or leave you in privacy per your preference. You can settle in by having a cool drink on the front deck or walking a few blocks to Main Avenue to relax at one of the coffee shops or brewpubs.

In addition to downtown and Main Avenue, hiking and biking trails are also within a few blocks of the home.

If you don't see that dates you are looking for please check both of my rentals in historic downtown:

Really wonderful stay, quiet neighborhood, walking distance to everything

  • 5 of 5

We really loved this place -- extremely ideal location within walking distance to co-op, Main Street restaurants/shopping, super quiet neighborhood with gorgeous fall leaves at the time of our stay. Really comfortable beds and well-stocked kitchen with all the basics you may need in a pinch (sugar, plastic baggies, plastic utensils). Perfect family vacation spot or couples looking for a quiet weekend away. We will be back! Thank you!

Purple Juniper is a wonderful property! It is beautifully appointed and stocked with everything you need from soft, fluffy cotton bath robes to olive oil and spices. The kitchen is a gourmet's dream and the beds are quite possibly the most comfortable I've ever slept on. Beyond that, it's all about location. It is 4 short blocks to downtown Durango, a lovely and historic area filled with great restaurants and shopping, and 1 block away from Hometown Pizza. ( I made many a late night run to this fine establishment.) We loved our home away from home so much that we added 2 extra nights to our original stay.

The owner, Victoria, is gracious, informative, and extremely accessible and responsive. We will be back!

Wonderful stay at Purple Juniper.

My spouse and I have stayed at a number of VRBO locations. They have all been good. This was one very good. What we appreciated most were:

Location, it was within easy walking distance of downtown Durango. The neighborhood was quite, peaceful, and the houses/properties were well kept. It was quite nice walking around the neighborhood.

Accommodation, the rental was very comfortable and roomy, bed was very good, kitchen and cooking utensils were very nice, plenty of hot water, nicely furnished. The eco-friendly soaps, shampoos, etc. were appreciated.

Extra touches, the owner supplied some valuable literature regarding the town and surrounding areas. It was obvious the owner cared about their property, both in the physical and visual aspects. Towels, linens, etc. were of quality. Inside decoration was well done. The front deck, with its umbrella, table, and chairs, were great.

We would certainly seek out this property when we make a return trip to Durango.

We lived in Durango for a number of years, and chose this place for our August 2017 return. Very comfortable, well appointed an thought through, very close (but quiet) to downtown, outdoor shops, trails and Animas River. Victoria was very helpful, accessible and responsive. We'll be back.
