Beautiful House NOT Child friendly

  • 4 of 5

This house was very beautiful, clean and had plenty of room for everyone! It was amazing to wake up and see deer right out the kitchen window every morning! Although, we did enjoy our stay there was a few things I wish I would have known before I booked this home for our family get away. The most important being that this house is NOT Child friendly! The stairs are very steep and dangerous! Unfortunately, I fell down the stairs and hurt both my lower back and wrist. Also, the main deck also does not have a railing and was also a safety issues for my children. We spent more time trying to keep our 2yo twins from falling off the deck and playing on the stairs then anything else. If you are traveling with small children I would definitely not recommend booking this house.

Another side note is that the homeowner lives on site and even though we did not have any issues with him it would have been nice to know.

The house was beautiful and spacious and perfect for our family (4 adults & 3 children). The owner, Rick, was friendly and offered much help on our future hiking and camping plans. Great place! Great host!

SPACIOUS & PEACEFUL RETREAT

  • 5 of 5

This was the most relaxing VRBO we have stayed at yet. The owner, Rick was very accommodating and accessible. He had some of his artwork displayed in the house and I fell in love with one of the photos and was able to purchase a print of it. It will be a great reminder of how wonderful our visit to Durango was. Our son owns a house down the road, so it was very convenient to entertain his family at this home. We were able to have a fire going everyday and plenty of wood was provided. This home is very roomy and comfortable. We spent most of our time in the great kitchen/living area. It was so roomy and convenient. The bedrooms are large and beds are comfortable. We were impressed with the huge closets. It was easy to get dressed and use the bathroom area without disturbing your partner if they were asleep. There was lots of outdoor space, we brought our little Westie and he loved to wander around on the property and visit with Rick's little dog who lives next door over the garage. My husband and I are seniors and it was easy to navigate but I would not recommend this property for anyone who is wheelchair bound or has to use a cane. There are a lot of steps in and outside of this home and different levels. Other than this I would highly recommend this property . Enjoy!!!!

Very impressed with Rick’s property

  • 5 of 5

Rick’s home is beautiful and spacious. There were 7 of us and 3 dogs and all had plenty of room for a week stay. We had a fantastic time and thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Durango over spring break! Thank you Rick!

Beautiful home, excellent location and wonderful owner

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Ricks house for the entire month of February. The home was perfect for us - size, layout, architecture, finishings, environment, location, and most of all getting to know the owner. Having Rick next door provided extras that we have not had in our many vacation rentals. This is our second time to visit Durango For an extended period. The size of the town is just right and the people are authentic. With lots to do in every season Durango will be a second home for us for years to come.

Owner's Response: Hi Michael, Thanks for the great review and thanks for trimming the Corn plant. I need to mention that I live next door and not on the property. I am available for any question or assistance visitors might need. Rick
