About Cherie Hartman

Nick & Cherie Hartman are the owners of this delightful cottage. They reside in San Clemente. Cherie has been a real estate agent for over 30 years and presently is associated with Sotheby's International Realty, Laguna Beach.

Cherie Hartman purchased this house in 1990

Why Cherie Hartman chose San Clemente

This location is very desirable because it is in a quiet part of town with only a couple of streets of income units, surrounded by high-end single family homes. The street is a 'loop' with very little traffic except for the people living on the two streets.

What makes this house unique

If you are looking for a cozy, well maintained cottage with extremely comfortable furnishings - this is the place. Close to restaurants, shops -- but not on top of them! The beaches are less inhabited in this location.

Sweet Home!

  • 5 of 5

This beach house is sweet, quaint and cozy! We had a really fun time staying here with our 4 kids. It's a short walk to the beautiful beach, and a short drive to downtown. The owners are really friendly and helpful!

Perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here with some friends from Argentina and our little dog and we absolutely loved it. The location is perfect - SO close to the beach. The neighborhood is lovely and there are so many wonderful places to eat. Just up the road is Adele's which has the best breakfast. The best Peruvian restaurant is also not too far - Inka Mamma's. The kitchen was very roomy and comfortable to cook in... we also did a barbecue. The front patio is so lovely with a gorgeous tree hanging overhead which provided such a lovely atmosphere and shade. We spent a lot of time on that patio with our pup, eating, having a glass of wine...

The guys ended up surfing most of the time at the beach that was only a half block away instead of heading into Trestles since it was a little less crowded and the beach was so comfy for us to hang out at. There is a lot of space in the house and having 2 bathrooms was very handy. Cherie was very accommodating with our arrival time and they had 2 parking spots for us which was perfect as well. It couldn't have been more convenient and comfy for all of us.

Great Location

  • 3 of 5

We stayed at the house for a week with our teenage to adult children and our dog. There was plenty of room to accommodate us all. The location was a 5-minute walk to Calafia Beach and a 15-minute drive to San Onofre and Doheney. The town was not within walking distance, but a 5-minute car ride got us to the shops and restaurants. House Pros: The patio, roominess, and supplies, such as, towels and linens, washer/dryer/dishwasher. Cons: It wasn't as clean as I would expect with a $200.00 cleaning fee. The kitchen could use some more pots/pans and a cleaning out of unnecessary items, probably left by other tenants. Main bathroom doorknob still sticks and doesn't open easily (per previous review), and the hand shower attachment is broken off wall and placed in tub. The windows in master bedroom wouldn't open. The house needs a lot of TLC and it would be Good to Excellent. One last comment-We used the patio the entire visit and enjoyed it for meals and just hanging out. We used a tie down for our dog while on the patio, as instructed. Unfortunately, the owner's pit bull somehow slipped out of its collar as he was walking by and charged/attacked our dog on the patio. Luckily he pulled him off before it latched onto her. We only add this event, because it scared the hell out of us and we would not want anyone else to go through what we did with a dog or small child.

Owner's Response: We appreciate the comments regarding the condition of the home. We have totally replaced the faucets in the bath and the door handle. The windows have been serviced and open and close with no problem. They are older, but functional with screens. We have added more kitchen items. By the end of the summer season, with fast turnarounds, it tends to be difficult to keep up with items missing/added to the kitchen. We will do a better job in the future. As far as the pit bull is concerned, it was a very unfortunate incident. Enu has been in the family since he was a pup, approx.8 years. He has never come anywhere close to attacking a child. In fact, he has had children come up to him in the street and all he does is lick them. I have had my own grandchildren around him since they were infants. He is an inside dog and is walked a couple times a day. We have had families come back 4 years in a row and we have had about 80% of our renters with dogs and this is the first time there has been an issue. One of the problems was that the renters dog barked at him every time he was walked past the house. He has never been the aggressor, but he will protect himself and my son if he feels they are in danger. I was very upset to have found out that that happened and I would not continue with the Vacation Rental if I thought it would put anyone in danger. Definitely not a child!
