I hiked while my husband fished. It was great to be able to walk to trailhead and to rail trail. I enjoyed watching a doe from the cabin. It’s a pretty spartan cabin which not everybody wants but it met our needs.
Only steps from the Presidential Rail Trail and walking distance to a trailhead for Mount Madison, location and privacy being on a quiet property was perfect for us. We brought our own games and food and appreciated not having TV or wifi. The house does have good cell reception.
This is a classic camp adjacent to public/conservation land, and about as close as you can get to the Presidential Range without being in either a motel or a condo that doesn't feel like the mountains. Just the basics, and good basics they are: comfy beds, a wood stove if you need it to back up the electric heat, a bench for watching the wildlife come and go, spring water for your coffee, and your host's many small innovations to make the house work well without too much tech and bother. We will happily stay here again on future NH hiking excursions.
Really pleased with this cabin’s location near hiking trails as hiking the Presidential Traverse was the reason for our visit. Owner pointed out a trail head just a short walk from cabin which was perfect. No driving to planned starting point was necessary. An extremely clean and tidy house with all the essentials provided. Owner responsive and pleasant.
