About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1.5 Baths, sleeps 3-6)

When you enter the town of Twain Harte you step back in time to a carefree era of lake swimming, sunbathing, barbecues, strolling downtown, miniature golf...

Staying at Casa Bella blends the best of both worlds, an old-fashioned vacation and a contemporary setting.

Close to downtown Twain Harte you'll find this hidden gem. Casa Bella has leaded glass windows, rustic fir floors, and a French armoire. Recent renovations have given this mountain cabin a fresh new look.

In the great room enjoy the large, comfy leather chairs and big couch for reading, lazing, or watching movies.

The bedrooms each have a queen bed with down comforters. The first bedroom has a peaked pine ceiling, antique leaded glass windows, and a French armoire. The second bedroom has a full bookshelf and a connected half-bath. For additional sleeping there's also a futon in the living room which opens into a full bed.

In summer have a barbecue, sunbathe, enjoy happy hour and dine on the deck.

For swimming, sunning, and socializing you will want to spend time at beautiful Twain Harte lake. You have LAKE PRIVILEGES! Choose the sandy beach or 'the rock' and swim out to one of the many rafts. You will enjoy this serene, private oasis. We have beach chairs.

Twain Harte also has a public golf course and tennis courts. For family fun you will love the not-too-challenging miniature golf course. Saturday nights from 6 to 8 PM mid June through early September, walk downtown to Eproson Park for 'Concerts in the Pines', a free outdoor concert featuring a different band every week.

In winter Dodge Ridge is 20 miles up the highway where you can spend the days skiing and snowboarding, or go to Leland High Sierra Snowplay in Strawberry, for sledding and tubing. Come back home and get cozy in the living room by the (gas) fireplace with a glass of wine then walk to one of the nearby restaurants for dinner or stay in and cook your own in our well-equipped kitchen. Eat at the dining table or the spacious granite counter.

Make a day trip (just over two hours) to visit world-famous Half Dome, one of many splendors in Yosemite National Park. Also visit nearby wineries, bistros, art galleries and boutiques. Sonora is 15 minutes away Murphys is 45.

After your travels you will look forward to returning to the pine forests of Twain Harte and the quiet comfort of Casa Bella.

Why The Owner chose Gold Country & High Sierra

Casa Bella has been in my family for 52 years. In 1965 our family went to Twain Harte for a two week summer vacation. We rented a rustic little cabin. As soon as we arrived we were all charmed by the town, the woodsy surroundings, and wonderful Twain Harte Lake. My mother immediately found a cabin to buy. We have enjoyed many wonderful times here over the years and hope you will, too.

What makes this cabin unique

I like to take a project to work on while vacationing. I am always inspired in Twain Harte, and can find plenty of room to work, either on the deck or on the wide kitchen counter. When I need a break, I hike up the road, then down and around to a beautiful little lake.

I love the smell of Twain Harte. It comes from a plant called Mountain Misery. I can't tell you why it is so named, but it is a delightful smell and it tells me I'm home.

Great Cabin in Twain Harte!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Casa Bella for 2 nights this past weekend and had a wonderful experience. Similar to the other reviews, the cabin was warm and very clean upon our arrival. We were a family of 4 and the kids loved the great selection of VHS/DVDs available to them at the cabin!. The cabin's décor was so cute and the quality of the bed linens and towels were superb!. It was our first time in Twain Harte and the cabin is within walking distance to town. Thanks again for sharing your beautiful cabin with us!

Owner's Response: Thank you, Georgia. I'm pleased to hear how much you and your family enjoyed your stay at Casa Bella. We try to make our guests comfortable, but much of the credit goes to our wonderful manager, who has the cabin warm and inviting upon guests' arrival, and our cabin cleaner who does an impeccable job of keeping the cabin sparkling clean. I hope you will come back and stay at Casa Bella again.

Owner's Response: Thank you, LeeAnn. We always hope that our guests will enjoy Casa Bella as much as we do. Lazing on the deck, strolling to town, floating on the lake... Throw in a margarita (or two) and you have my idea of a perfect vacation. Please come back and stay again. All seasons are beautiful in Twain Harte.

PERFECT little get away!!!

  • 5 of 5

We loved Casa Bella. A perfect mixture of rustic & up to date. Beautifully decorated with gorgeous high ceilings and light fixtures in the shape of stars.

The cabin was warm and clean upon our arrival. We immediately felt at home. Great choice of movies, books, and board games to keep the family busy during the cold winder nights. Loved waking up to a group of deer in the yard!

Natalie has done an amazing job & we will definitely be back soon!

A little gem in the woods

  • 5 of 5

I like the privacy and autonomy of a home. However since we're just two people, we can only find the rack 'em and stack 'em sleeps 12 kinds of rentals. Casa Bella was the perfect size for us! Ideal for a couple or small family. Not sure about two couples as you'd have to share a shower, but hey, if you really, REALLY like each other, then it might work.

The place is casual but very tasteful. This is how I would decorate a home. You know how most rentals have Aunt Jean's old sofa from 1983 that her Afghan hound "Biscuits " used to sleep on? Where you feel if you sit on it you might come up with an unexplainable rash? Not so with Casa Bella! VERY clean, comfortable furniture. You feel like you're at home.

Nice, modern kitchen (rare). Love the granite counter. Very practical. Some appliances are a bit older but since we don't cook much up here it was more than enough for us.

Bathrooms are simple in a charming lake cabin style, but also modern. Natalie invested in the important things--new toilets, sinks and shower.

Comfy mattress. We have back issues and had no problem.

Didn't miss the lack of air conditioning either. It gets cool at night and we just opened the gorgeous glass windows in the master at night and were very comfortable. Who comes to Twain Harte to sit inside the house with the windows closed?

Natalie is very easy to deal with and responded promptly to my several queries. After signing a pretty straight forward contract (basically a common sense "Please don't take a dump on the sofa" type contract) and paying through Pay Pal we were set.

I would highly recommend Casa Bella. A real little gem in the woods.

Please note: if you have a four wheel drive, you can ignore this. If you have a four door sedan you will want to turn into the driveway SLOWLY. We drove in like we would at home and got a bouncy surprise. Husband said it made him feel like Matt Damon in "The Martian" trying not to roll the Mars Pathfinder Rover. No harm done but remember the terrain in Twain Harte is not as paved as you might be used to. Drive carefully.

Owner's Response: Thank you, Maria. We appreciate your thoughts. People ask about the kitchen, mattresses, air conditioning... The opinion of someone who has stayed at Casa Bella means more to people than anything I can tell them. We hope to welcome you back to our cabin in the future.

Exactly what we wanted for a quick getaway.

  • 5 of 5

Natalie has the perfect setup with Casa Bella. The cabin has a nice layout and it's been kept up-to-date and clean. All of the furniture, linens, etc. are in good taste and high quality. The place was warm and welcoming when we arrived. It was a perfect place to stay for our little family when we wanted a place for a short stay while skiing at Dodge Ridge. We walked to dinner at The Rock and drove to a sledding hill...in addition to skiing at Dodge Ridge. You never know what you are going to get into when you rent something for the first time. In this case, what we got was far better than expected. My kids are begging to return already.
