Property type condo

About the property

1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4)

Our 'casita' sits within a gated complex w/24 hr. security, 2-3 minutes from Playa Los Muertos Beach & Pier. The home, completed in 2008, is in the heart of Puerto Vallarta's famous Zona Romantica, a short, Mexican block from popular Olas Altas street, where you'll find PV's wonderful, European-style, wrought-iron sidewalk cafe's, numerous art studios, indigenous 'Huichole' art items, & the popular 'Flea Market'. Walk along Isla Cuale to have lunch, and look at 'one of a kind' handmade art and gifts. Treasures for both the upscale or bargain shopper can all be found within 6 blocks of your front door.

The casita has 1 BR-2 BA(about 900 sq ft.), is air conditioned, has ocean views of the Bahia de Banderas from both your private bedroom balcony, & the large, window-surrounded 12' x 13' patio you enter from either the living room or bedroom. The Bay, and city can be seen from your bedroom, living room, and kitchen. Sorry, but absolutely NO SMOKING is allowed inside the residence!! It is permitted outside on the patio and in public areas. We sit on a slight rise, 3rd fl., so we enjoy not only western views of the Bay, but a wonderful view of 'el Centro' area & the 'Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe'. The Sierra Madre Mountains are to the east. Only steps away from everything.... you'll save $'s not needing to take taxis to get to the best restaurants, shopping, beach-combing & swimming.

This small home is equipped with everything you'll need to relax & enjoy your vacation. One good friend, who stays every year, said their only complaint was that I may have stocked the kitchen a little too well. I can live with that! The decor and colors were picked to reflect the ocean and trees of blues, deep greens, light yellows, & rich woods. All the furnishings are comfortable, & though lovely, they're designed to be used, rather than stared at. Spectacular sunsets & the evening fireworks from the 'Pirate Ship Marigalante' (about 9 pm) are just 2 of the daily treats you'll enjoy from your patio. In the distance, the cathedral bells ring during the day and are a charming reminder of a simpler time. The palm tree sways beside your bedroom balcony & large patio, providing local birds an ideal spot to rest & occasionally you can hear them sing. Mature gardens & flowers encourage a range of local (harmless!) wildlife, from iguanas to hummingbirds.

One of the best 'Infinity' pools you will ever see offers expansive views to the bay, city, mountains & beyond. There is also a hot tub, community Bar-B-Q & kitchen, a large palapa, and A/C'd gym with windows to the pool & city-with modern workout equipment. There are also all kinds of entertainment in the vicinity. Sports bars, nightclubs(some with shows), restaurants, shopping, numerous art galleries, the famous 'Flea Market', within walking distance (2-6 blks.), and for people of all persuasions. But remember, leave the noisy party at the nightclub when you return home, as we are not a 'Spring Break' hotel! Relax, and enjoy Puerto Vallarta at it's finest! WRITE AND ASK FOR MORE FOTOS!!

About Christina Fahey-Matias

When I can't be in PV, relaxing on the patio and looking out onto the beautiful Bay, you can find me at my home office in Vancouver, WA....working on medical insurance billing (exciting, right?!) I enjoy sailing, snorkeling, scuba diving, art, theater, music, dancing, hiking, red wine, and of course, Puerto Vallarta! I traveled quite a bit as a child in a military family, and those experiences led to a life-long interest in other cultures and people. Mexico is such a wonderful blend of different cultures, that I never cease to be interested in learning more about it and visiting with it's friendly people. I'm in my 60's, andsingle. I hope to someday live in PV 9-10 months out of the year.

Why Christina Fahey-Matias chose Romantic Zone

With the types of interests and hobbies we enjoy, Vallarta is one of the few places we've been to that can offer it all, and at a reasonable price. The weather is beautiful, the Bay of Banderas is amazing with all it's water activities to enjoy, the food is fantastic. Our small home is located in a natural setting which was carefully designed, and then built around all the existing landscaping-trees and walking paths set in flower gardens. You'll feel as if you've almost stepped into the proverbial 'Garden of Eden' kidding! You'll be able to see the Bay, day and night, from the veranda. How does it get any better than that?

What makes this condo unique

Broadband internet, and 2 seperate phone services: local service for Puerto Vallarta, AND a 2nd phone service (with unlimited minutes) to the USA and Canada.

You just have to try the 'Canopy Tour' zip-lines! These are heavy duty steel cables that cross thru the jungle and over crevasses and canyons. You 'zip' along them in strong mountain climbing harnesses and it's a blast! There are 3 of them in the Vallarta area, and the easiest one has it's office only a few blocks from our location. AND....the Pirate Ship Marigalante!! It's a lunch or sunset affair which includes dinner and the neatest show you've ever seen, with Pirates swinging from the masts and ropes on the sailing ship...the evening show has great fireworks and it's ALL done out on the beautiful Bay of Banderas! Worth the $'s, for sure!

The Good Life

  • 5 of 5

We had the most fabulous time at Mangos 6. Christina is great to work with and very helpful with everything down to the finest detail. Selva is such a wonderful complex: the pool area, palapas and people can't be beat. It was comfortable and homey. The views from Christina's unit are nice, as we also appreciate the mountains and the energy of the beautiful city of Puerto Vallarta. The complex is located in the most desirable area of Zona Romantica - the center of the restaurant, art and nearby beach scene. I also had to spend time working during our stay and the internet and phone in the condo and complex were top notch.

Thank you for providing us with a memorable stay and all the comforts of home!

Beautiful full amentity condo

  • 5 of 5

I had the most wonderful time in Puerto Vallarta and the condo couldn't have been better. It came equipped with a full kitchen, 2 bathrooms, a balcony, and washer and dryer. Although I spent most days at the nearby beach, I enjoyed the beuatiful complex pool area overlooking the city. The grounds were emaculately tended and kept safe by administrative/security staff. I will definitely return.

Anther wonderful stay in Paradise...

Again, what can I say ??... Not sure if there are rules against posting another glowing review of a truly perfect property for me.. But here goes... This fabulous property has just enough of all the things I really need, and very little of the things I can do without !!... Plenty of space for rest & relaxation... Yet right within reach of all the things that make me want to return year after year to the great Southside of Puerto Vallarta !!... My stay this year was for a "short" 5 weeks... But my apologies for not leaving a great review for my stay of 2 months last year (2011)... Thank you so much Chris for having Casa Chantico ready for me whenever I need it most... See you in 2013 !!... All the best to you !!... Cuidate mucho !!...

Can't wait to go back

  • 5 of 5

We spent 3 weeks at Los Mangos 6 and are already set up for next year. The location of this condo is perfect....just as the description's a short walk to the beach, restaurants, art galleries, and shopping. The complex is designed very well.....lots of trees and lush plantings along the paths between the condo buildings that all lead to the beautiful infinity pool and common area. As for the condo itself, we loved it. We were fortunate enough to meet Chris (the owner) as soon as we entered the condo. She was up on a stool cleaning and tightening the blades of the ceiling fan! Chris is committed to making everything right and was in contact with us throughout our stay. There were a couple issues that came up and she was right there to correct them. The condo is light and airy and had everything we needed. Many times condo rentals have just the bare minimums, but that's not the case with this condo. There's plenty of dishes, glassware, appliances, and a great laundry room with a drying rack that we used every day. She's thought of everything to make you feel right at home as soon as you arrive. We spent a lot of time out on the large patio.... a perfect place for morning coffee, meals, reading and napping in the afternoons, evening cocktails with friends, and of course, fireworks at night. It was perfect for us and we can't wait to get back next year!! Chris, you're a joy to work with! Thanks for everything!

Owner's Response: Dear Mark & Barb, Thank you so much for the gracious comments. I'm absolutely tickled you had such a great time, and didn't faint when you entered the unit and found me perched on a stool, way up in the air fixing that silly fan! I really DO care that my guests have a care-free vacation and I want them to feel like they truly got their moneys worth and that they'll want to return, again. I'll be looking forward to seeing you both next year, and if there is any way I can possibly make your stay even better, please, don't hesitate to send me your suggestions!

Fabulous Vaacation

  • 4 of 5

Nearing the end of our five week stay, I am ready to write our review! This was our first time in the area and we are thoroughly enjoying an active and entertaining time.

The description of the condo is accurate. The complex, itself, is one of the nicest in the area and the location, a couple of blocks from the beach, is residential but convenient. It is close enough to walk home from the beach, up the hill, and still be willing to change clothes and go back for dinner. The pool is beautiful, the receptionist most gracious and helpful.

The CONDO is large, very light with lots of outdoor space available and breeze. Linens are basic, not luxury. Although the condo is large for a one bedroom, it felt very cluttered from our standpoint: religious icons hanging on the bed frame, lots of plastic flowers, counter space pretty much taken up, it is obviously a home, not a rental. Purely personal taste.

Our biggest issue was the incessant noise. Yes, PV is a party town and this space perches above a construction site (of another large condo), the bus turning corner (5:30 am until 11:30 pm) and within hearing distance of the busiest bars on Olas Altas. Why are we in PV if we don't like drums and music, laughter and cars all night? Well, I guess, ideally, we like to immerse ourselves in activity when in the mood and when it's time to sleep, like quiet.

All in all, it was a good choice for a first time visit and we plan sometime to return to this lovely place on the planet.

Owner's Response: Hi, Ann! I'm very glad you enjoyed your stay at the condo, & yes, its a really busy little town during the winter months, when the tourist season is at it's highest level! The buses that run a block from our location do make some noise, but regular Vallarta buses stop at 10pm. Cars/taxis taking tourists to all kinds of locations, and Nite Owl buses, 3 blocks away, do run later, though. South of Vallarta there's less traffic, but you can't walk into town, or the beach, its too far away, & you must pay to take taxis! In the past, I stocked the condo with lovely Egyptian cotton linens, but due to the tropical climate I discovered they didn't hold up well, so I switched to the 60/40 polyester "suede" sheets from "Bed, Bath & Beyond... ...FYI for others deciding to live in the tropics! I'm sorry the flowers & plants in the condo were not pleasing to you. The large vase of "Lilies" were all hand made by a local artisan, of specially dyed & hand pressed paper. I've always loved them. The other silk plants are to add color in the condo, as due to the condo's vacant weeks, live plants have all died, & this made me feel sad for the plants, but I enjoyed the "ambiance" of greenery in the condo, so the silk plants were my compromise! :-) The little, ceramic cross on the bedframe, as well as the small framed picture of the Virgin of Guadalupe in the kitchen, is to honor the local culture of Vallarta. If you visit any Mexican home in PV you will find 1 each of these. Usually, the cross is above the front door, or the bed, and the "Virgin" is in the living room or kitchen. My Mexican friends tell me it has less to do with religion & EVERYTHING to do with wishing the occupants of the home Good Luck & Good Fortune! Yes, the decor is personal, as the condo IS a home, & not a sparcely furnished "investment property", as you'd find by renting a time-share or hotel room. It does have its own charm & personality! The new condos being built across from our complex finish up this winter, allowing the many folks of USA, Canada, &...?...who bought them, to move to Vallarta & escape cold, dreary weather or take much needed vacation rests, anytime! Its a temporary thing, not on my side of the condo, & sad to say, I'm losing one of my best returning renters to it, as he & his wife purchased a unit. Now, they'll be friends, not guests! I do hope you continue to visit PV, it's a wonderful city, full of enjoyment for all. Thank you very much for your comments.
