This little house is in the BEST location! It is just 7 short blocks to our beautiful waterfront park where you can enjoy one of the many 'porch swings' facing the Beaufort River. There are lots of restaurants, shops, and galleries accessible from the park and from Bay Street. The historic Point neighborhood is just 4 blocks from the house. This is a great area to wander and explore - filled with antebellum mansions where planters and their families spent summers enjoying the almost constant breezes from the river. Also - this house is such a popular rental that we have converted our other little property, Duke Cottage, to a VRBO. This house is beautifully furnished with pieces from Century and Hickory White. There is a gracious dining room with a chandelier above for ambiance. One of our favorite guests is an artist and he did a small watercolor of Baby Charles while staying there - he had it framed and it hangs in the dining room. Another guest did an impasto for the bathroom, and recently another guest did a great photo that now hangs in the kitchen!
The bathroom used to be the low point of the house, but is now totally (I mean all the way down to new floor joists and new sheetrock - TOTALLY NEW) renovated and FANTASTIC! It has a step in shower with dual shower heads each with their own control. The shower doors are thick frameless tempered glass with bright chrome fittings. In keeping with the era, the walls are white 'subway' tile and the floor is black and white mosaics. The vanity has a beautiful granite top, and stores plenty of additional towels below. The window has an insert of frosted glass in front of it for privacy, while still allowing light into the room. It's really special.
The kitchen is fully equipped and there is a full size washer dryer. We added shelves supported by antique metal brackets across the windows above the sink. It is a fun way to display all the plates, mugs, and glassware and it freed up cabinet space for groceries.
The Master has a queen sized bed, and the 2nd bedroom has a day bed with 2 twin mattresses. All mattresses are 2010 Sealy, and all linens are high thread count cotton. This is a very cozy, quiet little home. A while back we switched out all of our Queen bedding to white European Duvet & Shams for the cooler months - IF we ever have them this year - there will still be the high thread count sheets, but instead of our white cotton Matelassé Coverlets, you will have a freshly washed duvet cover and shams that can be used for sleeping. These are changed between each guest. It's more work, but it as we discovered, it is a better sleeping experience for the guest!
For your entertainment there is a 32' Sony TV with HD cable, a DVD player with surround sound, and a VHS player. In the Master bedroom there is a CD player.
Outside, John installed a GORGEOUS antique brick patio (10' x 50') that we have furnished with custom 'South Carolina adirondack chair' seating, made by our neighbor, Todd. The seating group includes 2 lounge chairs with ottomans, and a settee. There is a 'ceiling fan on a stick' to help keep the 'skeeters away and provide a breeze when there isn't one. You can now dine al fresco, as we have also added an outdoor dining table and chairs. There is plenty of shade, so no umbrellas are needed.
Pets are allowed with prior approval and a refundable security deposit. Please discuss with us the kind and size of the pet you wish to bring so that we can determine it's appropriateness.
