Charming 3-Bedroom House Near Village and Olympic Venues

Bedrooms 3
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 - 5 nights

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6) on 1+ acres, walk to town

Allplay, a classic mid-century cottage, is beautifully situated on nearly 1.5 acres of landscaped grounds where views of the Sentinel Range peek through the trees. The house has been lovingly furnished in a combination of classic Danish modern and quality rustic pieces, with hardwood floors and beautiful rugs throughout. Its quiet but convenient location and charming interior make Allplay a unique and cherished retreat. Built by well-known New York architect Ronald Allwork for his own family, the house is located at the base of Cobble Hill, about a 1.5 mile walk into the center of Lake Placid village.

Allplay features 3 bedrooms (2 with queen, 1 with bunk beds), 2 full baths (1 with whirlpool tub), den with flat-panel TV (with cable service) and DVD player, living room with fireplace, and dining room. There is a high-speed internet connection with wi-fi hub. The kitchen is fully equipped (we love to cook), and a clothes washer and dryer are located in the basement.

About Judy Kornfeld

Avid hikers and cross-country skiers, we fell in love with the High Peaks of the Adirondacks more than 20 years ago. We live in Center City Philadelphia in our 'real' lives. Judy owns a consulting and software company that works with employee-owned (ESOP) companies. Al, a management consultant and strategic planner, is semi-retired. We try to get to Lake Placid as often as we can!

Judy Kornfeld purchased this cottage in 2007

Why Judy Kornfeld chose Adirondack Mountains

We love the High Peaks of the Adirondacks, and we found ourselves returning there frequently, even though we love to travel to new places. Lake Placid offers access to the High Peaks trails and wilderness, while providing lots of other activities to entertain us.

What makes this cottage unique

Allplay is our dream house - cozy, elegant and peaceful. We fell in love with it the minute we walked in the door. It feels like an oasis with its big trees and sweeping front lawn. (There are awesome mountain views behind the trees, but the trees are so tall now that you can barely see the mountains.) It's walking distance to the village but away from the hustle and bustle.

We've furnished it with a combination of Danish modern and handcrafted rustic pieces, and we just love being there. We can hike or snowshoe up Cobble Hill, right across the street, or we can easily get to Adirondack Loj, Mt. Van Hoevenberg, or Whiteface, all within a 10 to 15 minute drive.

One of the things we really like about the house is that the TV is in the den, and the fireplace is in the living room - so Judy can sit by the fire and read while Al watches old movies. We also enjoy gathering food at the local farmers markets and cooking at leisure - the kitchen is fully equipped with good knives, good pots and pans, etc., so cooking is a pleasure.

Clean and cozy home in great location!

  • 5 of 5

We had a nice stay in Lake Placid in this clean and comfortable home. Owner was nice and pleasant to deal with and home was really clean and well stocked. We were a stones throw from down town Lake Placid. We walked to town one day yet loved how quiet the neighborhood was where the house was located. Lake Placid offers lots to do. The Olympic museum, swimming in the lake and river, hiking and golf. We would definitely rent here again!

Great stay during IMLP 2016

  • 5 of 5

This home is tucked away in a tasteful neighborhood just a few minutes from downtown Lake Placid & for the purpose of our trip, super close to the IM village & Mirror Lake.

It is also super convenient to golfing (my father enjoyed a round during our stay), beautiful trails, waterfalls & Whiteface Mt just down 86.

As for the house, everything was very clean upon arrival. Beds were super comfortable. The home is tastefully decorated and the owner was responsive and easy to work with. We really enjoyed our stay- Lake Placid is gorgeous!

Great Location and Very Comfortable

  • 5 of 5

My family and I truly enjoyed our stay in Lake Placid. The home was very comfortable, well equipped and spacious. It was also in a fantastic location, yet private. Judy was a pleasure to deal with and I would highly recommend anyone to stay there. The whole family wants to go back!

Thank you Judy

A Peaceful Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four really enjoyed our stay at All-Play Cottage in February. The cottage is beautiful and peaceful and is within easy driving distance to both downtown Lake Placid and Whiteface skiing. All-Play is super clean and spacious, offering a very well equipped kitchen and everything you need to be comfortable. Judy was a pleasure to deal with and we look forward to our next visit.

We had a fantastic stay at the All-Play Cottage. The house was clean, meticulously decorated, the interior and exterior was also well maintained. I was very impressed with Judy and her lovely home. We could tell how much she cared for it. The amenities provided everything we needed for our stay and it was very close to the town of Lake Placid and Saranac. We have been coming up to Placid and Saranac for the past 13 years. My husband, son and I agreed this was one of the best trips we've had. Hopefully we will be able to rent this home next summer = )

It was a perfect stay!

  • 5 of 5

My family spent New Year's week at this beautiful home. It was spotless, comfortable, fully stocked, close to town and was just a perfect getaway for us. We really enjoyed ourselves and couldn't have asked for more. Town is very close and Whiteface Mt. is about 15 minutes away. Judy is a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend this property!
