Nice place.
We had to attend my brother in law’s funeral. My 95 year old father had to travel with us and hotels are a poor option. The house was wonderful and perfectly located to the funeral home and to restaurants and shopping. I highly recommend it.

Unexpected small town surprise
This cottage was a wonderful and very welcome surprise. We needed to visit Moweaqua to help with family matters and this was a perfect place to stay. The house is charming from the outside, large front porch. I wish it had been warm enough to sit out on it. Decorated with the most adorable Christmas/winter/holiday theme on the inside - it was charming. Super easy check in, the hosts were very communicative even before we got there. Kitchen well equipped - we cooked a full dinner. Comfy beds and clean white linens. It was all clean and crisp/ Felt at home right away. Will definitely go back when need to visit family again

Great little rental
I rented this property for my parents and my so we could attend a family reunion in nearby Pana, IL. The house was just as the pictures indicate. I had a question about the TV and the host was very quick to respond. Overall we were very please with the house and its location. We even found a cute little coffee shop right around the corner. Should we decide to return to Pana, we would definitely rent this house again if it was available.

Better than a hotel
Amazing place to stay when we visit family from Moweaqua. Before we would get a hotel in Decatur but this property is perfect to have family over to entertain them, visit, and relax. Love how it is decorated as it's very cheerful! The property manager and owner were amazing and they went out of our way to make sure we had everything we needed. Already working on scheduling our next trip there and will be staying there again.

About the host

Hosted by Deborah Horn

Host profile image
Hi! We are Curt and Deborah Horn! We are childhood sweethearts who grew up in Herrick and Moweaqua, Illinois. After raising our children, we decided to move to the mountains of Western North Carolina. We were once again smitten. At the same time, enjoying the mountain life, Curt was employed as a director of Biltmore Estates Grounds while I worked as an educator and managed Deborah's Cottage Rentals.
At retirement age, we decided in 2021 to sell our vacation homes and live a simpler life. Soon, we realized we had more time to visit family back in Illinois. Unfortunately, staying any length of time in the area became quite tricky, with nowhere to stay and rest in our own space. Therefore, we decided to purchase a home in Moweaqua, where many family members still reside.
Since we have one adult daughter and seven grandchildren living in North Carolina, we plan to stay there as our permanent residence. When we are in North Carolina, we will provide others with a place to stay at the Horn Holiday Home in Moweaqua.
We hope you find it as charming and relaxing as we do!

Why they chose this property

We chose this property because of its location and charm! It's in a quaint farm community where most of our siblings and parents live.

What makes this property unique

The Horn Holiday Home is the area's first and only vacation rental! We have been vacation rental owners and managers in North Carolina. We hope to bring a new concept of vacation, family reunions, and travel to Moweaqua, Illinois.
