About Bill Schiesser

We began visiting Frye Island in 1982 and have been coming back every year since. In 2005 we were fortunate enough to be able to purchase our house in paradise. We have travelled to many places but found no others like Frye Island. Swim in water so clear water you can almost drink it, play golf on a coarse where you don’t have to make reservations and walk on to tennis courts when you are ready to play. Step back in time and enjoy life and nature.

Bill Schiesser purchased this house in 2005

Why Bill Schiesser chose Frye Island

Once you visit, you too will fall in love and understand why people keep coming back. The peaceful beauty of the surrounding area, the smell of pine in the air, lobster dinners at home or at one of the local restaurants. All the great outdoor activities like swimming, boating, fishing, hiking, bike riding, golf, tennis, or just relax and do nothing. It is a great family vacation spot. Life like it should be, fun and relaxing. Come create your own family memories, I’m sure you’ll love it as much as we do.

What makes this house unique

Home away from home. But the real beauty of Frye Island is that it's an island. Your vacation begins when you drive into the 9 car ferry. Arriving at the island in 5 minutes, it's quite and private, great for families. You can be as busy as you want, or just relax and enjoy the beautiful outdoors. The lake water is crystal clear. We have seen moose, deer, bald eagles, and many loons, and owls on the island. Plenty to do close by off the island, shopping, ocean beaches, plenty of good restaurants, or enjoy the nightlife in Portland only 45 miles away. On the island you can ride bikes, play tennis, go golfing; very rarely will you have to wait to get on the golf course golf or to play tennis. It's like being at your own country club. Located on the island are a quaint restaurant and ice cream store as well as a small general store.

Amazing house on amazing island!

  • 5 of 5

Our 2 families spent one week in this house at the end of June. We had a great time!

The house is very accommodating, not too small not too big, perfectly sized for our 2 families. We loved the high ceiling open space and the amazing view on the lake.

The deck is also perfect. With 8 seats to watch the sunset, it's the cherry on the top of a day spent at one of the many nearby beaches.

The island itself is also great with lots of possible activities (golf, tennis, etc.). With people saying hi to each other, going around in golf kart, it feels like being in a camping except everyone have houses on wooded land instead of tents!

We highly recommend this house to anyone looking to have a relaxing and fun getaway!

Family from Massachusetts

  • 5 of 5

Our family had an awesome time at this vacation home. There were many memorable times such as peaceful morning breakfasts on the back deck; adventurous kayak trips that the owner graciously provides; biking, walking, or jogs around the island with stops at the many public beaches for a rest, dip, and cool off; quiet dock and beach front sitting and reading; as well as fabulous grillin' and chillin' until the sun sets across the lake. All the kids and adults alike had such a great time jumping off the dock, swimming in the clean fresh Sebago waters, boating, water skiing and tubing, and relaxing on the lake. The house is wonderful and accommodating with all the amenities necessary for a family to stay and enjoy a week's vacation that will never be forgotten. Frye Island is a very unique and charming place that offers an escape and family vacation like no other. We made some of the best memories here and can't wait to return another year. Thanks to the owner as well for making the renting process a breeze and for providing a stress-free, restful vacation.

Best spot on the island to watch the sunsets!

  • 5 of 5

My family & I stayed here during a week in July & had a fabulous time. The location is one of the best spots on the island. The views are gorgeous and the sunsets are amazing. I was surprised at how quiet the lake is especially because of it's size, I was expecitng to hear more boat noise. The water is extremely clean & clear. My family & I kayaked almost every day and there are plenty of beaches to stop at and explore. The dock is the perfect spot for lounging in the sun during the day and watching the sunset at night. The house has a nice enclosed deck, very safe for the little ones. Highly recommend this house for anyone who is looking to rent on Frye Island and we're even considering renting again for next year!

Great place to relax

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had the pleasure of renting this property for one week in August 2011. This waterfront house offered plenty of room for six of us. The deck provided a wonderful place to have a cocktail and watch the sunset every night. The washer and dryer were an added plus. Only thing we missed was not renting kayaks during our stay; it would have been a great way to see the island. On cooler days, we took advantage of the island’s golf course. The owner was very accomodating and a pleasure to do business with. Our family hopes to rent again next year.
