Salinas House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms + Sunroom, 2.5 Baths, (Max occupancy 10)

Our property Guesthouse Suite is nestled amid lawns and gardens: EAST OF EDEN SUITE is a large guesthouse with a luxury master bedroom and private half bath, large sunroom living area, full kitchen, and full bath (sleeps 8-10).

(Suite can sleep up to 6)

Our East of Eden Guesthouse has a spectacular sunroom with views of surrounding hills. There's plenty of comfortable seating and a full-size dining table—you'll feel as if your dining in a lovely garden. The sofas in the sunroom are deep and comfortable — a relaxing place sip a glass of wine at the end of a busy day, curl up with a book, or take a nap. Outside is a large fountain and garden areas—peaceful and relaxing with the sound of water and birdsong. The large private patio area adds additional living space with outdoor furniture and gas barbecue.

EAST OF EDEN has a luxury master bedroom with a king-size bed, sitting area with 2 sofas and a large TV, private half bath, and electric fireplace. The bed faces a beautiful view of the garden and surrounding hills. For additional sleeping in the master bedroom there is a queen convertible bed.

In addition to the master bedroom, the house has a full bath and a sunny full kitchen with breakfast nook. The large sunroom (which can be closed off via a sliding glass door from the kitchen) can be used for an additional sleeping area with a convertible king-size bed and a full size sofa futon. Please note that during the winter months, the sunroom is usually very comfortable during the daytime but cools off at night and cannot be heated (just too much glass and high ceiling).

We are in John Steinbeck's celebrated Pastures of Heaven area (between Monterey and Salinas) is within Monterey Peninsula's prized sunbelt area. It may be foggy in Monterey, Carmel or Pebble Beach, but just 20 minutes away at your garden guesthouse, you'll often have sunny days.

The property is 4 fully fenced acres, with expansive lawn areas, koi pond, and gardens just outside your door— a perfect place to barbecue . . . or just relax with a book and sunbathe when weather permits. You have the feel of being in the country but all the convenience of being close to all the wonders of the Monterey Peninsula: celebrated golf courses, shopping, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Big Sur Coast, and music events, such as the Monterey Jazz Festival. And if you're a racing fan, this property is ideal! We're just 5 minutes from the Laguna Seca Raceway!

Please see link to our website below (just below Rates) to download our map, which shows distances from Monterey Guesthouses to popular destinations in the Monterey Bay.

There's a private parking area with room for larger vehicles, such as an RV or a boat. If you need secure storage for bicycles or other large items, a locked, covered carport can be provided. We are pet friendly on 4 fully fenced acres. We provide our guests with free Monterey Aquarium passes (2) and croquet set, which can be set up on the large lawn area.

Please see our web link below or visit our website for more information about the property.

We provide luxury Egyptian cotton linens, and we wash and steam/sterilize all bed linens and bath towels before the arrival of new guests.

About Elizabeth Ward

Elizabeth Ward has lived in the Monterey/Carmel area for more than 40 years. She moved to the Corral de Tierra area 13 years ago, finding this area a hidden, unspoiled gem.

Elizabeth Ward purchased this house in 2002

Why Elizabeth Ward chose Central Coast

Most people know that the Monterey Bay area is famous for its natural beauty and popular events, but locals know it also has very quirky microclimates. Sunbelt properties close to the ocean, like Corral de Tierra and Carmel Valley, are prized and at a premium. Summer days can be cold and foggy in Pebble Beach or Carmel, and just a few minutes drive inland finds a warm, sunny day. A gloomy day in Salinas turns into a pocket of sunshine a few miles west where we are. The Corral de Tierra area, also known as John Steinbeck's Pastures of Heaven, is a sunny jewel. I've lived on the Peninsula for 40 years — in Carmel Valley, Pebble Beach, Monterey, Pacific Grove — and this is the area I chose for my dreamhome and retirement.

What makes this house unique

We are 5 minutes away from the main entrance to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. And we are just down the road from The River Road Wine Trail -- a country drive that winds through 12 exceptional vineyards and wine-tasting rooms. A very special afternoon!

Hikers and Mountain Bikers will love the Fort Ord National Monument, which runs behind our property. A trail head is just down the road from us!

Great location and hostess

  • 5 of 5

The location was perfect and the ammodations worked great for 8 adults and a child. The large sunroom was great for hosting friends for an after track dinner and the kitchen and bbq were perfect for making food to feed everyone. We will definitely stay here again!

Owner's Response: Michele and her group were excellent Guests. I was glad to see how they enjoyed the large sun room and patio where they barbecued and sat around the fire pit. The raceway is close by which made it convenient for them while the car event was happening. They are definitely welcome to return here.

Perfectly suited my needs; the route to and from the location went against traffic, which turned out to be smart move given the delays seen when there's events. Clean, quiet, and well kept.

Clean and cozy

  • 5 of 5

Elizabeth was a wonderful host! We picked this place for the convenience of its location near Laguna Seca raceway. For our party of 6, we were situated well with each pair of us having our own beds. Would definitely stay here again for our next race at Laguna Seca.

Owner's Response: Glad to get the feedback from Oscar. They really enjoyed the extra activities like hiking, the free aquarium passes and sight seeing in general. My Guests appreciated the tinted windows, allowing them to enjoy the view all around without anyone able to see in. I welcome Oscar and his party to return. The 4 acre grounds with large private grassy areas is great for games, throwing the ball, croquet etc. I am looking forward to my Guests coming for this week end as well.

Great Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a wonderful time at the Monterey guesthouses. We rented out all three guest homes and everyone commented on how cozy and clean the rooms were. It was great for a family getaway as three different familes were able to stay in three different rooms. The place is dog friendly and my dog looked so happy. The yard was large and had a great view. Elizabeth was great and made herself available for the many questions we had. Overall, the place made for some great family memories. I definitively will be coming back.

Great home away from home

  • 5 of 5

My family of 7 (parents, 86 yr old grandmother and 4 adult children) stayed at "East of Eden" for 3 wonderful days and nights while visiting the Monterey/Big Sur area. The home is just what is advertised and pictured: clean, light, gorgeous grounds, quiet, and a warm, lovely hostess. It is well stocked but whatever you might not find, Elizabeth will cheerfully get for you (she lives next door); it includes wireless internet access, a large TV and DVD player too. Her 3 cocker spaniels are friendly and well-behaved. We especially enjoyed chatting around the outdoor tables, sitting in the sun. There is one formal bedroom (with a luxurious king bed!) and multiple pullout couches with all linens and blankets. With as many people as we had, you will give up some privacy (for a little more, however, you can rent the attached suite as well) and you should be aware that the sunroom is the same temperature as the outside, which for us was hot during the day but chilly at night. There is a large ceiling fan to cool it down but at night you'll need to bundle up for sleep if you are in that room...oh, and be careful, the futon when open, tips!
