Overview

About the property

Estate, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

Take yourself back in time when life was much simpler. Come and stay at a real working farm. The Tree House is located on a 13.5 acre private estate in the Beautiful Valdez Valley just 6 miles north of Taos.

The Tree House is a fairy-tale cottage, hand built by the owner, who is a Taos artist and metal sculptor and furnished with handmade furniture and antiques. There is peace and quite except for the rustling of the giant 200 year old cottonwoods and the rushing of the Rio Hondo River as it makes its' way to the Rio Grande. The Tree House has a balcony that over looks a 100 ft. pond with French geese and Mallard Ducks.

A short walking distance on the other side of the property is the working part of the farm, consisting of Alpacas, Ducks, Geese, Chickens and of course the gentle Great Pyrenees dogs that watch over all. You are welcome to feed the Alpacas, learn about their history and in early summer you might even see a cria (baby Alpaca) or you can walk to he top of the hill and watch the chickens.

There is lots of wildlife in the Valley and you might occasionally see a Bear, coyote, Deer, Fox or even an Elk on the property.

We are located half way between Taos and Taos Ski Valley. About a 10 min drive in either direction.

Come stay with us and enjoy tranquility in the Land of Enchantment.

A great place to stay and recover from a day of skiing at Taos Ski Valley (only 20 minutes away!). Beautiful scenery and fun place to stay. Highly recommend!

New year in a tree house

  • 5 of 5

One of the most adorable places we have ever stayed. The pictures don't do it justice. It is close to town and yet secluded. Pefect place for our vacation. If we visit Taos again we will definitely look at booking this.

Family fun!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had such an incredible time with our boys 4 and 7 years old. They felt like they were in a story book and loved their time with the owners Jun and Jim.

They will remember this weekend for the rest of their life as they learned so much about the surroundings and enjoyed the fall weather and leaves.

Our oldest even made an episode of his YouTube channel about his adventure.

The town of Taos is so close and was great to visit.

We will definitely would like to return one day.

Check out our sons video and we hope it helps you see the property from a kids point of view. HIT - Treehouse Adventure

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

We had a tremendous stay in the treehouse for 3 nights. The photos are nice, but in person it's even more beautiful. This truly is a special place. Very well kept, everything you need, and best of all are Jun and Jim, who are wonderful hosts.

About Jun Greathouse

Jim and Jun Greathouse moved from Southwest Kansas for the health benefits of the northern New Mexico climate. Both Jim and Jun are art lovers and this also gave Jim an opportunity to cultivate is art career. Jun also has an alternative medical practice specializing in homeopathy and nutrition.

Jun Greathouse purchased this estate in 1996

Why Jun Greathouse chose Valdez

We purchased this property because of the beauty of Valdez Valley and the mountains. The closeness to the town of Taos and also to Taos Ski Valley.

What makes this estate unique

It is wonderful to sit on the Tree House balcony looking out over the 100 ft. pond watching the ducks and geese and listening to the sound of the river as it makes its' way to the Rio Grande.
