Overview

About the property

Estate, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

Take yourself back in time when life was much simpler. Come and stay at a real working farm. The Tree House is located on a 13.5 acre private estate in the Beautiful Valdez Valley just 6 miles north of Taos.

The Tree House is a fairy-tale cottage, hand built by the owner, who is a Taos artist and metal sculptor and furnished with handmade furniture and antiques. There is peace and quite except for the rustling of the giant 200 year old cottonwoods and the rushing of the Rio Hondo River as it makes its' way to the Rio Grande. The Tree House has a balcony that over looks a 100 ft. pond with French geese and Mallard Ducks.

A short walking distance on the other side of the property is the working part of the farm, consisting of Alpacas, Ducks, Geese, Chickens and of course the gentle Great Pyrenees dogs that watch over all. You are welcome to feed the Alpacas, learn about their history and in early summer you might even see a cria (baby Alpaca) or you can walk to he top of the hill and watch the chickens.

There is lots of wildlife in the Valley and you might occasionally see a Bear, coyote, Deer, Fox or even an Elk on the property.

We are located half way between Taos and Taos Ski Valley. About a 10 min drive in either direction.

Come stay with us and enjoy tranquility in the Land of Enchantment.

Why Jun Greathouse chose New Mexico

We purchased this property because of the beauty of Valdez Valley and the mountains. The closeness to the town of Taos and also to Taos Ski Valley.

What makes this estate unique

It is wonderful to sit on the Tree House balcony looking out over the 100 ft. pond watching the ducks and geese and listening to the sound of the river as it makes its' way to the Rio Grande.

The property at this time of year is spectacular!

  • 5 of 5

It was so alive with the bees buzzing and birds chirping, the sounds of the running creek and the occasional humming bird whistling by. The grounds were beautifully kept but so wild at the same time. And the little tree house was the perfect place to host a little vacation for my 10 year old grandson from the city. He never once was bored. The alpacas were a bonus and so lovely to see how beloved and we'll cared for they were by Jun and Jim. I will be back.

The Tree House and Alpaca Farm was a Magical place!

  • 5 of 5

I surprised my wife for her Big Birthday and took her here, we live in Albuquerque. When we got there my wife and I and my sister from Raleigh who also surprised my wife by coming with us couldn't believe how beautiful the property was. It was so green with big beautiful trees, a river running through the property and a pond. The house it self looked like it was out of a story book. It just felt so right to be there! The owners Jun and Jim couldn't be more hospitable. My wife loved feeding the alpacas. We all liked walking around the property, looking at and hearing the river. At night we would open the bedroom window listening to the river and fall asleep. Looking back at the picture brings us back to what a magical place it is. We will be back!

A little piece of heaven

  • 5 of 5

The owners were lovely people and June introduced me to her adorable alpacas.

The treehouse had everything I needed and was cozy and comfortable.

Wifi service was great which I appreciated. The grounds were picturesque with sounds of running water which I loved. It felt like I was in an enchanted , secret place out here and I enjoyed everything. Thank you!

Beautiful Property, Perfect Location

  • 4 of 5

We loved the location just outside of Taos. It was nice to be outside the busy tourist town. The property is well taken care of and truly a beautiful and unexpected place. The treehouse is small but perfect for a couple and perfectly decorated and furnished. We had everything we needed, and the coffee and fresh flowers were a nice touch. The wifi and house phone were so great!

My only complaints would be the communication with Jun leading up to our vacation was difficult, the towels and cloths smelled a bit like mildew after getting wet, and there is no path or light leading to the treehouse from the parking spot (watch out for ants and critters!). With those things corrected, our stay would've been perfect! However, we'd still highly recommend this location to our friends and family.

Owner's Response: Sorry about the ants. It has been an exceptionally bad year for them. There are some in the driveway which I have no be able to completely eliminate. We do keep a flood light on the high corner of the main house so that the path to the Tree House is not totally dark and there is a motion sensor light that comes on when you get to the steps. of course there is a porch light at the front door. I did send 2 e-mails with attachments as for directions to the property, Each of these e-mails contained a phone number for reaching us if there were any questions.
