About Doug Tree

We love the Ko Olina Beach Villas and are confident you will feel the same if you decide to Stay at Ko Olina. We raised five children and have found memories from many vacations. When we started taking vacations we stayed only at hotels, until we discovered it is possible to stay in luxury villas with full kitchens, multiple bedrooms and bathrooms, living rooms, large flat screen TVs all in an upscale resort and at a very affordable price

What a great discovery that was for us. No more tripping over each other in a hotel room, no more crowded spaces, no more fighting over the bathroom. Instead what you’ll find at the Ko Olina Beach Villa is a designer kitchen with full size sub zero fridge, top of the line stove, oven, microwave and dishwasher. We really enjoy stopping at Costco or the local grocery store and stocking the fridge. We have lots of fond memories of baking cookies, cinnamon rolls, eating ice cream, having fresh fruit and all at affordable prices. Fond memories of playing cards and games, no irritability from tripping over each other in cramped spaces.

When we visited Ko Olina we soon realized this was a special resort, and the Ko Olina Beach Villas was the most beautiful place to stay in all of Ko Olina. We loved it so much we purchased one of the luxurious beach villas. If you're lucky enough to find an opening when you'll be vacationing in Hawaii we are sure you'll have a great Stay at Ko Olina.

Doug Tree purchased this villa in 2010

Why Doug Tree chose Kapolei

There are other housing options at the Ko Olina resort, but you will soon find the best place to stay by far is the Beach Villas at Ko Olina. So when we talk about your 'Stay at Ko Olina' we are talking about the best, staying at the Honu lagoon, at the Ko Olina Beach Villas.

Whether your vacation is with family or friends you'll find a spacious, luxurious, and affordable two bedroom villa waiting for you if you Stay at Ko Olina. The price is equivalent to a single deluxe small hotel room with ocean view and with one bath and no kitchen or laundry, and beats the price of two or three hotel rooms which in most cases would still be less space and not as luxurious as your Ko Olina Beach Villa. So if you are looking to make memories we hope you’ll make your reservation with us. Stay at Ko Olina is the perfect vacation.

What makes this villa unique

Closest 2nd floor villa to beach on the desired sunset side.

Premium Villa - B-208 is our second home which means the amenities in B-208 are nicer and newer than most villas.

Competitive rates - Although B-208 is a premium condo at the beach villas resort, our prices remain very competitive and are often lower than villas without as nice of view of further away from the beach.

Ko Olina Beach Resort Always as Expected

  • 5 of 5

We knew Ko Olina beach resort from our previous stay. Everything was as expected. The only thing that could have been better is informing us on time that there was a crib for our grandchild so we would not bring ours. Also minor thing was no enough dish and washing detergent. Other than that be beach equipment. condo cleanliness and staff working there was exceptional. Beach is clean and not crowded. We were not that lucky with the weather during our stay, since three from 8 days was rainy. Location is exceptional since Costco and Safeway are 10min drive from there. One advice for people going there rent a car is extremely expensive. Better use taxi/uber since it will cost you less. Canadians should know that car insurance we pay here (ICBC) or from credit cards is transferable and you do not need it for rented car. Accommodation, flights, food and rent a car for 4 adults and a toddler cost approximately $1350 per day for 9 nights stay.

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

The condo is beautiful, and we loved the view. We were there for New Year's Eve, and had a perfect view of the fireworks from our lanai. The pool was great, and my daughter loved the hot tub. It's an easy walk down a short path to the beach, and the water was delightful. We would absolutely come again. I brought my parents, who enjoyed the comfortable chairs on the lanai and the view of the ocean. An absolutely perfect vacation.

Beautiful scenic property

  • 5 of 5

The villa itself was outstanding. We were very impressed with the high end kitchen, bathrooms and amazing lanai. We were also very pleased that boogie boards and snokels were included. The décor was beautiful and we felt right as home. The property was spectacular including the pools, hot tubs and lounge area. We couldn't get enough of the private lagoon. Each day we snorkeled and saw amazing fish and a turtle in the private lagoon without having to leave the property. We would highly recommend this rental.

Best location on the island!

  • 5 of 5

Reserving this condo was the best vacation decision I have made in years. The view from our private balcony was amazing. To be fully informative, I will list all the pros and cons I can remember.

Pros:

1) location. I feel this is the best area to stay on the Island. It gets 3 inches of rain a year ( as opposed to 200 inches in the central island). It is away from the touristy crowds of Waikiki and yet has access to stores such as Target/Walmart within 5 miles. It is also next door to Aulani, so you can walk over and see how much better you have it! Aulani is way overcrowded and way overpriced for a family.

2) free secure parking. If you really want to see Oahu, you need a rental car. All the hotels charge an arm and a leg for parking every day. Since rental cars are cheap there, it was very useful to have our own private gated underground parking spot.

3) Security. The building is super protected with security cards required for all entry points with camera surveillance 24 hours a day. There is a security booth even to enter the general resort area.

4) Lagoon number 2! There are only 18 public parking spots, so the lagoon is essentially private to those who stay at the Villas. There were at most five to six families there at any given time during our stay. There are permanent umbrellas on the beach ready for you and this lagoon has the BEST snorkeling along the sides out of all the lagoons. If you go out at 7 am, you get to see turtles feeding off the rocks as well! Most people aren't aware of that and end up swimming/snorkeling at the inferior but larger Aulani lagoon 1.

5) the master bedroom is lovely with complete privacy. The large stand up shower is also great.

6) Can't beat having your own private chef designed kitchen. Easy to cook your own meals.

7) Beach chairs and snorkel equipment provided by owners. We brought our own snorkels but it was nice of them to have beach supplies there.

8) Flat screen TVs with cable and separate wifi.

9) view! I mentioned it already but it was one of the best views of the sunset anywhere on the Island and to be able to walk out to that view every morning was awesome.

Cons:

1) No cleaning service. That's the one thing we missed compared to staying at a hotel. Small price to pay for the benefits but a minus nonetheless.

2) Very small supply of kitchen paper towels. Probably more on management than owners. Stores nearby though.

3) Laundry. Small and took long. Easily adjusted.

Excellent Ko'Olina condo stay

  • 5 of 5

My wife, toddler and I stayed on the second floor of the Beach Villas in Ko'Olina commencing October 7 for 10 days. After assimilating into the island vibe for a couple days from our work lifestyles, we fully relaxed daily on the gorgeous lanai, went for warm morning walks, hopped down to the smooth-as-silk sandy beaches and lounged by the different pools - highly recommended if you have kids! Quiet but within easy drive of more urban activities. We drove around North Shore twice and we highly recommend getting out and about and seeing the gorgeous island and taking in a few shrimp shack journeys! We look forward to our next stay.

A great, relaxing holiday with family.

  • 4 of 5

This was a great spot for a family gathering as it was half-way between Australia and NYC. The villa was well furnished and had everything we could want and more. It is a beautiful setting, great pool and lagoon areas, especially for the grandchildren, and shops and restaurants were well within walking distance. The sunsets were spectacular and we had a great time.

The only problem was that, as we cooked most of our own meals, we needed a dishwasher that worked well and unfortunately the dishwasher in the apartment needed two visits from maintenance for repair and even then was not working properly again on our last day. I also felt that the cleaning was less than acceptable as I needed to vacuum the rug before we could put the baby down on a playmat on the floor in the sitting room. I'd have happily given the villa 5 stars except for these grumbles.
