(games are all set on free play)

Better yet, you will also find your own private theater room with a 135" screen and 6 plush theater seats comfy enough for even the longest of trilogies! Please note: to access the lower level (theater and queen bedroom with bathroom), guest have to walk outside onto the covered deck and downstairs. Vacationing in an Arcade

  • 4 of 5

Our family (Mom, Dad, and five children ranging from 1 to 13) stayed in this cabin for a week and loved it! Our biggest complaint was the fitted sheet in the master bedroom would not stay in place which made sleeping uncomfortable. The furniture is different than in the pictures. There is plastic theater seating in the basement with the projector, not plush recliners as shown. The living room furniture is also different; not as fancy as what is shown. The woods around the cabin have grown up so that the best view is from the 2nd floor rear windows. The hot tub worked, but is on a different side of the rear porch. The basement is only accessible by going through the master bedroom, outside on a deck, and down a spiral staircase. I would only allow older kids to sleep down there. The games were fun, especially the 80s arcade game with Ms Pac Man, Donkey Kong, Galaga, and about 25 others. They do have some steak knives now, in case you were worried. We had an issue with the projector bulb and a bulb above the cook top. Both were repaired the same day by very courteous and friendly maintenance staff. The roads are scary; they taught me why vehicles have low gears. I used Low 1 and 2 gears in our van while going up or down the steep hills. We saw a mamma bear and three cubs outside the cabin one morning which made the trip for our kids.

Ok if you like the bare minimum in household items

  • 2 of 5

We come to this area every year with the kids. 2 adults and 3 kids. We always try to find a cabin with a lot of games to offer for diff ages which is why we chose this 1. As far as that goes, it was awesome! However, when we get to our cabin each year we don't leave. We want to spend family time together. We cook and eat and everything in our cabin. They left us with only 1 trash bag which made it very difficult with all the cooking we do and the size family we have. They left very little dish soap to wash dishes with but they did leave 2 dishwashing packs which for us was ok but we really needed more. We ended up using the same dishes several times so we needed to be able to wash them several times. There is only 1 steak knife, so if you grill steaks like we did, plan on sharing 1 knife. We cooked in the oven and didn't have pot holders to remove hot pans.

The pull out couch was useless. The springs were missing on a section of the mattress.

There was only 1 blanket left for an "extra" so anyone who gets cold at night would have to deal with it unless they were the lucky 1 w the blanket.

The cabin itself was very dusty. I took a few picks where I wrote messages in the dust. I'll attach if I can.

Fireplace is for looks only. No warmth.

The description isn't clear on the fact that you have to go outside to enter the bottom floor. For us, had we known that we would never have come. We have small children and it was a huge inconvenience for us. That needs to be CLEARLY specified. I see now that it's in the reviews left but we shouldn't have to read those to know this.

If you are a family who stays gone more than being at the cabin, it's fine. Otherwise, unless you plan on bringing on your own necessities, find another cabin.

Just wasn't a very good fit for my family, may be fine for others.

  • 3 of 5

I booked this cabin with the arcade game options to entertain my children as we were going to relax more so than being out and about. In that sense, the cabin was fine. However, the kitchen area is quite small and was tight quarters for 2 adults and 3 children. As mentioned in other reviews, accessibility to the theater and additional game room requires going through the master bedroom, going down the stairs outside, and then entering from an exterior door. It wasn't the preferred set up to have children sleeping downstairs, but we almost had to. We found the beds to be comfortable. The only other little quirk about this cabin I felt was the laminate floors that seemed to "snap" underneath with every step. None of the above may be an issue to anyone else, but just was not a good fit for us.

As far as everything else goes, the communication with the reservation process and everything else associated with it, was very smooth.

Wonderful place......once you get there!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I and 3 kids (ages 12-18) booked the Bears Den for a quick 3 night family getaway. My husband is a police officer and did not get off duty until 7pm so we set out from Atlanta around 8pm to make the 4 hour drive. There was a little snow on the ground as we topped the mountains and we were able to see all the city lights and Christmas decorations aglow. I will agree with the other visitors, that once you get in the area of the Bears Den it is a nerve racking, twisting, steep, narrow climb. I would suggest that you have a 4 wheel drive and if you are not comfortable with these types of roads that you get everything you need and head back to the cabin before dark. However the owner did provide perfect directions and even though it is a rural area we had no problems locating the cabin. The cabin is beautifully decorated and full of entertainment for children of ALL ages. We rented a movie from the local Red Box and enjoyed the theater. Everything worked perfectly (we did not use the hot tub; but I would be willing to bet it was perfect as well). The master bed could use a new mattress but other than that we had no problems at all. I would have no problem recommending this cabin, just again be prepared for the ride up.

Great people to work with, Inconvenient layout and location

  • 3 of 5

I first want to say that the owners were great to work with. We booked at the last minute, and we received email responses and confirmations within minutes. I also liked that we had a keypad for check-in, rather than having to go to an office.

We checked in rather late, which was probably a mistake on our part. It was dark, and some of the roads weren't marked as they should have been. We had debated on whether or not to bring our truck, a four wheel drive extended cab. So glad we didn't. There is no way we could have managed those roads with a large vehicle. The roads are extremely narrow, very windy, very steep. Had we met an oncoming car a couple of times, someone would have been off the road, and into a ravine. We've been to the area many times. We typcially come once or twice a year, and we've never encountered a cabin with roads like this. Our nerves were shot by the time we got to the cabin (it took us 45 minutes the first time once we were off the main roads).

On a more positive note, the cabin was very clean. We've stayed at many cabins where the housekeeping was questionable. This one was a very nice surprise. The master bedroom mattress was excellent. Very comfortable.

The strangest part of the cabin was the layout. The second bedroom is downstairs. The only way that we could find to get to it was to go through the master bedroom, out the back door, down the outside staircase, and use the keypad. Really inconvenient, and in our case, it made the bedroom unusable. We didn't feel safe with someone sleeping in a completely detatched room from the rest of the cabin. The downstairs was very musty smelling. Not sure why...

The games were a huge hit. The kids loved them. Again, we were pleasantly surprised that the air hockey, pool table, and foosball tables had all of their parts. Every cabin we've ever stayed in was missing something that made them unusable. The arcade game upstairs worked fine. They didn't play the football one. Downstairs, the skeeball game worked fine, the basketball game was fine as well, although several of the balls were flat. The snowmobile game didn't work. The handlebar for the game is attached upside down!! Not sure how you fix that...

We used two of the TVs and they worked great. We didn't cook any since we were there only two nights, but the kitchen looked very clean.

Overall, the cabin was nice. The layout just makes it inconvenient for people with small children. And the drive...Whew!!

Great cabin

  • 5 of 5

Cabin was great just as described. My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time. Roads to cabins were a little confusing and very narrow got lost a couple of times even with gps but the cabin was worth every penny. Stayed two nights and wish we could have stayed longer. Very clean and everything you need was there. Really liked the hot tub and the theater room. The master bedroom has a very comfortable bed. Will rent again from owner but maybe smaller cabin so we can stay alittle longer.
