Thank you for being such thoughtful and respectful guests, Vanessa and Chris! We would be delighted to rent to you all again anytime you find yourself in Austin again.
We stayed here for an entire month while we were getting work done to our own house. The space was perfect for our family and we were able to use the side room for both an office and a playroom.

We appreciate your thoughtful review, Cheryl. Glad to know you enjoyed cooking in the kitchen; we wanted to equip it so it would be fun to cook in it! When your travels bring you back to Austin would love to host you again.
The house had everything we needed (and more) for our two month stay with our dog—big yard, spacious living area, well stocked kitchen, quiet neighborhood, and lots of amenities within walking distance. We had a few minor issues during our stay but Sarah was very responsive and helped resolve our issues promptly. 100% recommend!

This house was perfect for a long stay for our family! The backyard is big and fenced and green, the neighbors are friendly. We enjoyed taking the dog on walks up to the lovely St Ed’s campus. We like to cook often, and the kitchen is spacious and well stocked, perfect for our needs. It was just the perfect amount of space and a convenient location - a family friendly neighborhood, but close to everything. Sarah is a fantastic host! She is very kind and always responsive. We will be back!

Thank you for the kind review, Jen. So glad you enjoyed the house and the location as much as we do as owners. It truly is a convenient yet quiet oasis in the middle of Central Austin. Hope to have you or your friends stay with us in the future anytime you need a place to stay!
M’y overall impression of this property is positive. The road to the property is narrow and entry to the driveway is a sharp turn. I suggest the owner provide shades in the dining room in order to provide more privacy from the construction workers working at the next door new home construction. The phone service is spotty in that area of Mill Valley. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and the close proximity to the beautiful coast and easy access to Mill Valley and the Hood Earth market.

Agave is house is the perfect place to stay if you want to be in the South Austin action but have a quiet place to retreat. The house is warm and inviting with rich terracotta tile and a soothing wall color. The well equipped kitchen is large and open to the spacious living area. Beds are very comfy with high end mattresses and crisp, quality linens. You'll be walking distance to the hip and bohemian So. Congress area but the house is tucked into a quiet and charming neighborhood. There are lots of great restaurants in every direction and the grocery store is walking distance. Sara, your host, is very responsive and makes the entire process easy and enjoyable. I am truly sad to leave my South Austin retreat!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Agave House. The location can’t be beat, with easy access to I-35, Hwy 71, and SoCo. Our dog had lots of room to run around in the fenced backyard, and enjoyed his walks through Stacey Park and the beautiful campus at St. Edwards University. Sarah is a lovely host. She was very prompt answering any questions, and had the house fully stocked for our stay. Highly recommend!

Our first visit to Austin
Agave House proved to be just what we wanted for our first month away from home in retirement. We loved that it was within easy walking distance of the South Congress area with its lively mix of excellent restaurants and shops. HEB, a great grocery store, was just minutes away and my husband loved being able to walk downtown (approximately two and a half miles away) for exercise every day. He also enjoyed playing golf on the many, inexpensive nearby golf courses. The kitchen was well-equipped and contained everything we needed to enjoy home-cooked meals and entertain some friends. The beds were comfortable and the wifi was excellent. Sarah, the owner, was particularly easy to work with and responded to questions very promptly. Additionally the wine she provided for arrival was a plus. This is a very well-appointed house in a most convenient location. We would definitely consider it for a future trip.

Great temporary housing for a family in transition
My family stayed there for two months while transitioning to our new home. We had just moved to TX from the east coast and needed something furnished and roomy enough for 3 adults and 2 kids. This place was perfect! It had a nice big yard for my 3.5 year old to run around, and was a 20 minute walk from Littlr Stacey Park if I wanted excercise and the kids needed things to climb. It's also right by a college campus which had an unpaved track I used for running a few times. The kitchen was pretty well equipped, certainly met our needs for the two months we were there. Is also walking distance or very close to restaurants and nightlife. The neighbors are very friendly and I ran into the same people at the park a few times. I addition, the owner is very sweet, gave us a bottle of wine and still keeps in touch with us! My only complaint is that most of the floors are tile, which was hard on my little one since he was still crawling. Some area rugs would have been nice.

Great location, great place, fantastic
I couldn't ask for a better place. It was a perfect location (really close to downtown and 6th street) and the house was absolutely everything we needed for the long weekend.
Sarah was fantastic and very accommodating. Even had beers waiting in the fridge on our arrival.
Definitely recommend.

A quiet place, yet so close to all the best Austin has to offer!
This house is tucked into a wonderfully quiet neighborhood just off South Congress and a block or two from St. Edward's (walked the dogs there every day ~ don't miss the view of Austin from the hill at St. Ed's). It's a 'Mayberry/Leave It to Beaver' neighborhood with HEB and a Catholic Church right around the corner. Lucy's Fried Chicken (get the sweet potatoe pie), Torchey's Tacos, and the Whip Inn are just a couple of eateries close to the house. Zilker and Barton Springs (swimming and canoes) are close, but Stacy pool (heated pool) is really close. When you want a bit of peace, back to the house you can retreat. It's cool and quiet with a nice back yard (large, no exotic plants to worry about) for the dogs to sunbathe. The neighbors are friendly and respectful.
The whole house is clean and well appointed without being fussy (no expensive vases, etc). The kitchen is stocked with all the pots and pans, utensils, etc., you need to make a meal for a family. We cooked breakfast every day and several other meals as well. The dining table is big and roomy for the whole family. The beds are so comfortable, and the bath towels are nice, thick, and plentiful. We can't wait to go back. I just hope the house is available when we return to Austin.
The best thing about the house ~ Sarah, the owner! She is so easy to work with and such a joy to meet. Thanks, Sarah, for sharing your vacation rental with us and helping to make our stay so enjoyable! We hope to get to visit with you again soon.

Home Away From Home
My wife and I, our son (16) and daughter (25) spent a marvelous month in Agave House and can confirm all the raves you see below. Roomy and clean, with a perfect layout for a family vacation, the house is perfectly located, too, for a quick walk or ride to Big Stacy's Pool — it's free, and we went swimming nearly every morning — or Curra's for some of the best Mexican food in Austin. Within minutes, you're strolling the always-lively South Congress and/or South 1st Street (we practically picked up a closet-full of nifty vintage clothes!). Even closer is an H.E.B. (Congress + Oltorf) for stocking up and making use of the spacious kitchen (outfitted to the hilt!). And, as others are mentioning, I-35 is also just minutes away for day trips to San Antonio, etc. The Alamo Drafthouse on South Lamar (with the Highball right next door)? Ten minutes, maybe 15, tops.
The front yard is gorgeously landscaped, the back yard is huge and private. Sarah was tremendously helpful and full of tips on all to see and do in Austin and the Hill Country. Right in the middle of our stay, we took a quick out-of-state trip, and towards the end of that week away, we found ourselves yearning to get back to Agave House. When we returned, it really did feel as if we were coming back to a home away from home.

Marvelous cozy home within walking distance of SoCo!
Agave House was just what my husband and I were looking for upon arriving in Austin. The house is immaculate with everything you need for a comfortable stay. While staying at Agave House, we walked South Congress so many times to soak up the ambiance of Austin. We even walked all the way to Lady Bird Lake, 6th St, and UT. With St. Edwards University only 2 blocks away, we took advantage of its gorgeous campus often. We found a Pilates class within walking distance and so many restaurants, too! The house has faultless wireless and a new flat screen tv. Agave House easily sleeps six comfortably. The owner was marvelously helpful in getting us acquainted with everthing! Thank you so much for sharing Agave House with us for our first few wonderful weeks in Austin!

Family Vacation
Agave House was the perfect place for our family to stay during our family Christmas vacation and awaiting the birth of our grandchild. Being close to I35 and 71 made it easy to travel to and from all the places we wanted to go. The house and yard were roomy and comfortable and Sarah was always available to answer questions and make every part of our stay absolutely enjoyable! Her Southern Hospitality helped make us feel as if this genuinely is our home away from home! Highly recommend this as a place to stay in Austin!

Just spent a month at Agave House. Lovely place. We'll go again. Location excellent. Easy to get to downtown, old west, etc. We're swimmers and walkers and getting to Deep Eddy was easy. And Blunn Creek Reserve is practically next door. Plus easy access to I-35 and rte 71.
Place itself was impeccable, with lovely large yard.
Can't think of any negatives at all.
By the way, a friend visited who requires an electric w/c -- and she had no problems staying with us.

Thanks for your kind review, John! We're so glad you all enjoyed your stay with at Agave House. We did a lot of work to the property and are delighted you found it to be "impeccable."
Our location is, as you say, very close to "downtown, Old West Austin, Blunn Creek, and to Austin community swimming pools." Thanks again for your feedback and we look forward to having you stay with again soon!

Fantastic vacation rental
After staying at Agave house for almost 3 months, we consider it home in Austin and reiterate all of the previous reviews. The house is open and light, very well kept, and extremely well equipped for a vacation rental. It's very obvious that Sarah has paid lots of attention to details, from the furnishings to the kitchen equipment, comfy towels and bedding. Sarah was always available and very accommodating whenever we contacted her.
We have stayed in other Austin vacation rentals that did not come close to the quality and value of Agave house. The location is ideal, it's close enough to the action but the neighborhood is very tranquil.
There's an HEB market close by but we were happy to discover a new Walmart just a few minutes away (we're not regular Walmart shoppers) that had great produce at 'unbeatable' prices.
We cannot recommend Agave house enough!

Austin Golf Stay
This house is fantastic, best price in a great location. I will be staying here again during my next golf trip to austin. The house has everything, WiFi, satellite TV, huge backyard, modern look and feel, and extremely clean and well kept. Sarah was a pleasure to do business with and took really good care of our group. Cold Shiner was waiting in the fridge when we got there. I recommend this house to anyone looking for a place in Austin, no reason to book a hotel.

Texas hospitality at it's best
Our company had the opportunity to rent the Agave House for SXSW. I knew it was going to be an amazing experience when Sarah (house owner) greeted me with some Austin treats and a 6 pack of Shiner. She was so sweet and I was already sold on the house before she even unlocked the front door. Inside, the place is huge! Coming from NYC, I felt like I was in a different world---and the backyard was bigger than Tompkins Square Park (EV).
Sarah even met my colleagues who had not yet arrived, after I left for the day to attend the conference. She lives nearby, which is convenient when you need an extra key or a hair dryer (as we did).
The rooms were big, the beds were comfy and the all the amenities are perfectly described, though the backyard is undersold, the backyard alone makes this worth it---especially if you live in a concrete jungle as we did. Downtown Austin is 2 miles away, and easily walkable, though we rented a car since there's a driveway. There are enough stores within a few blocks for your midnight needs and the sound of nature waking you up in the morning is tranquil.
Highly recommend.
About the host
Hosted by Sarah Schoenfelder
As the saying goes, 'I wasn't born in Austin, but I got here as soon as I can!' I grew up in Arizona and went to university in California but after living in Austin almost nine years, I cannot imagine calling any other place home. My fiancee is a born-and-bred Texas from the Austin area and we both call South Austin / 78704 home.
Why they chose this property
Ever since I first visited Austin in 1999, I was hooked. It took me a couple years to move here permanently, but I've never looked back. Austin is and will always be my hometown.
Ironically, I first stayed at a vacation rental when I came to visit! Since that time I have enjoyed numerous VRBO experiences in various parts of the country, from West Texas to Nantucket.
I spent a lot of time working on Agave House after I bought it and fully rehabbed it. I always pictured it could be a soothing yet hip vacation rental, just like the ones I visited. I hope you find Agave House to be your home away from home-- I look forward to meeting you and hopefully you'll fall in love with Austin just like I did!
What makes this property unique
Agave House has a perfect location to enjoy Austin's unique culture, live music, and culture. It's close to everything-- from the universities to downtown's buzz-- yet it feels like it's a world away, because it's located on a very tranquil street with little traffic. It's a great spot to escape and relax after a busy day of exploring.
