Beautiful villa overlooking the Sea of Cortez (the sweeping 180 degree view is stunning) yet only five paved miles from delightful San Jose del Cabo. All the amenities are nearby; a little used, fine sand beach (the sea is close enough for you to hear the lull of the waves), restaurants, art galleries and entertainment...the best of both worlds...and only 30 minutes from the San Jose del Cabo (SJD) airport. It has has a wonderfully warm and comfortable feel about it (so people who have stayed there tell me) so much so that when they leave they feel that they have had a special stay indeed.
There is a barbecue (as well as a full kitchen) but if you don't want to cook and want to stay close to the house then there is a bare feet in the sand restaurant a two minute walk away. The beach goes on for miles and is a wonderful place for a stroll, or if a walk in the desert, and a climb up a nearby mountain is more your speed then that's there too.
Enjoy peace of mind knowing that you're having the time of your life while leaving a very tiny 'carbon footprint'...this villa is completely solar-powered using an advanced, state-of-the-art solar energy system. It is the height of 'guilt-free' luxury. Air conditioning is not available during the months of July/August and September.
The house, and its surroundings, is both unique and charming...you will have a memorable stay.

I am a photographer/writer. I designed the house. It is the perfect place to write and relax; serene, quiet, with a deserted beach to walk on nearby. The 180 degree view of the Sea of Cortez is magical...with whales visible in the season. I encourage you to spend time at my house...you'll love it.
The Owner purchased this house in 2000
I chose the location for my house so as to have the amenities of a town nearby but also the peace and quiet of being somewhat removed. It is where nature, the culture of Mexico and the comforts of modern-living blend seamlessly.
180 degree Sea of Cortez view. Quiet. No neighbors.
Casa Diggs...You've seen the pictures and as amazing as they are the place is even better. The views are spectacular; desert, night sky, ocean and we got to see several whales. Now imagine you can do all of this from the pool! The Casa itself has everything you could want. We had our anniversary and Thanksgiving holiday there. So you can cook, have a party and even pay attention to your favorite sporting event. The beach is close. Buzzard's is closer and they do a great Thanksgiving spread! This is definitely the place to be and it is a quick drive to Zacatitos. We will be back!
My apologies to the Owner, Peter, for this incredibly delayed review! We stayed at the property in January of 2015 and it was magnificent!! The property is tucked into a perfectly sized little gated neighborhood and situated atop a hillside that gives you unparalleled views of the Sea of Cortez and the beauty of Mexico. The sunsets & sunrises were composed of colors that you just don't see anywhere else. It was my first time visiting the area, and we never once even ventured into the city of Cabo. We mostly stayed at the house, but when we did go out, we visited bars/eateries that were either in the local 'neighborhoods' or we went to San Jose del Cabo. We had looked at a number of listings online and I'm so glad we picked this one! It left us wanting for nothing. Thank you, again, Peter, for sharing your lovely home with us! We hope to get back to it one of these days!!
We have stayed in a number of private rentals, but this was our best experience to date. Peter was easy to work with and incredibly responsive to my multiple emails. Prior to our arrival we received a detailed communication from Judy, drove right to the house and "check in" was seamless. Beyond that Judy took time to show us around and make sure we know how everything worked, where to find misc. items and made it clear, if anything was missing she would take care of that as well.
The house, the pool, the view all exceeded our expectations. Outside space blended beautifully with indoor, making to home feel spacious. Fabulous art and collectibles throughout the property, books, well stocked kitchen, etc. The property was perfect for my husband and I, however the detached casita would have been ideal for our teenage son, had he been able to join us on the trip. We were so pleased with Casa Diggs, that two days into our vacation we were planning for our next.
This was the most wonderful house we've ever stayed at. The architecture, layout, proximity to beach, green-ness were all spectacular. The bedroom overlooking the pool and ocean was romantic and extremely comfortable. Judy, who is the manager, was ready to help with anything (tho very little was needed). If we wanted to rent a whale watching boat, a chef or a housecleaner she was ready with number and names.
This is not a commercial, slick, new build, Mexican winter get-away. This is thoughtful, peaceful, off the grid. There is integrity here, from design to location. If quality of experience matters, you will leave enriched. Whales. Solitude. Appreciation.
My wife and I spent 5 wonderful days in San Jose del Cabo to celebrate my birthday and it was the most relaxing and enjoyable time we have had. From the moment we set foot into the home to moment we left we felt a sense of calm and peace. The home has "amazing" views of the sunrise from the bedroom and the sunset from your private deck. The home was well appointed as to necessities, everything you would need for a comfortable relaxing get away. While we didn't have any planned activities we usually ventured out for bit during the day and then spent the majority of the remaining time lounging by the pool, listening to the ocean, reading a book and enjoying the peace and quiet. San Jose del Cabo is a short drive (10 minutes) away, and there you can find art galleries, shops, plenty of places to eat ( we absolutely loved Baja Brewing) and also a grocery store for the little things you may want to get. We did head down to Cabo San Lucas one morning, and after an hour on the marina boardwalk we couldn't wait to get back "home" and the quiet. There is a Marina closer (Puerto los Cabos) that has a wonderful boardwalk and much less people or congestion. We ate a couple of meals at Buzzards which was great and also enjoyed quite a ride up the coast to a secluded beach for some down time. Peter was very easy to work with and Judy was very helpful when we arrived and also if we had any questions. If you are looking for a place to unwind and relax, you will not find a better place than the Casa in Laguna Hills. Thank you Peter for sharing your home with us.
