DO NOT STAY HERE. They have no regard for safety and have no idea what a clean space is. Dead bugs on the floor. Flies everywhere. The locks on the doors were not secure. Carpets are disgusting. Location is in a bad part of town. I can not say enough about how bad the place was. Dont even try to contact the host they will give the most minimal response. Had no idea how to check in or out. If i could have given a 0 rating i would.

This IS. Duplex! With a live in lower level neighbor! It indeed was cozy! The house is 101 years old and amazingly kept! It could have been a bit cleaner in the bathroom and kitchen. Extra fridge in kitchen. Unsure why? But it doesnā€™t work. The extra touches the host included did not goUnnoticed! The neighborhood is sketchy at best. Very nice neighborhoods surrounding area but again, the host canā€™t control their neighbors and kept the property maintained. Neighbor has a cute little French bulldog or something so if you donā€™t like dogs donā€™t rent this. Neighbor was polite but didnā€™t speak any English. This rental is an upstairs apartment just so you are aware. Overall, our family loved it!

Not what I had expected or hoped for.

The neighborhood was less than ideal. Neighbor across the street had a mattress on the curb. The house next door had a sheet for curtains.No driveway, street parking only.The small, fenced front yard was clean.House was a ā€œduplexā€. The other apartment had a dishwasher and a plastic Santa on their side of the front porch.I was notified through Vrbo that the key was in the mailbox. No other instructions.Front door opened to a narrow staircase to a second floor apartment. THAT wasnā€™t mentioned in the listing.Apartment was old, but clean. That is about the best I can say overall.I originally booked for four people. It should have been six and I notified the owner of my error, last minute. Listing said ā€œsleeps 8ā€. There were 2 queen beds and a sofa. There was supposed to be a queen air mattress but we couldnā€™t find it.We found 3 bath towels in a closet. No hand towels or wash cloths.Kitchen had two full sized refrigerators. One was not working. The other was cold but the freezer wasnā€™t working. There was dish soap but no sponges, wash cloths, or dish/hand towels. There were plenty of paper towels, though.I never messaged the owner because we were there for one night and it didnā€™t seem like it was worth the effort. Price was reasonable for G.R. area, but still, very disappointing compared to other places I have booked.The last thing I can say is that the door opening to the actual apartment has 4 differs locks on the inside. Let that be a warning.

Terrible and dirty

The neighborhood isnt great and there are broken down cars in the back yard. I wouldn't trust the rear deck to support a person. The unit was dirty, with dead bugs in corners and cobwebs. Roach poop on the window sill. There was a broken down refrigerator in the middle of the kitchen. No bedding on one bed with dirty bedding in the closet. Would sleep a max of 4 people, not the 8 that is advertised.When we tried to contact the host they were unresponsive. The only communication we ever received was "keys are in the mailbox" which we were told about an hour before check in. We ended up staying elsewhere and recommend you do the same.

Host stopped communicating

I asked about the no running water in kitchen and unwashed sheets and did not receive a reply. Also had no check out instructions, so did the best we could. Was not very clean when we arrived either, no trash bags in cans and needed a vacuum.

Okay for a short stay

This vrbo is okay for a short stay. The overall cleanliness was far below average for what expectations should be (crumbs on the counter etc). The low price makes it kind of worth it to stay if you are only planning one or two nights. Will say I would not stay here alone. Although I wouldnā€™t consider the neighborhood super unsafe, I also wouldnā€™t feel comfortable being in this location alone. Ps: the host was TERRIBLE at responding. Asked multiple times weeks prior for early check in, no response. They finally responded to our request the day of at 6pm (check in was 4pm so useless by that time). Zero instructions on check in, told us an hour before we got there and it was barely any info.

Inaccurate Listing

This place advertises sleeping arrangements for 8, but in fact has only 2 queen beds. There was a very dirty queen air mattress in a closet, but it wasn't something you'd want to sleep on. The refrigerators didn't really work, and the freezer didn't work at all. The area is a little sketch and the host did not give any check info. Had to call to figure out how to get in, and thankfully she answered. However, the linen was clean, the rest of the house was moderately clean, and it was spacious. Overall, it would have been an okay stay if there had actually been the bed space advertised.

Less than impressed

Overall, this stay deserves 3 stars. I stayed here with my girlfriend and her sister for 3 nights. Originally requested to stay for 2 nights, then asked the host to extend it by a day, but my message wasnā€™t responded to. Got Vrbo customer service to assist. Upon arrival on Thursday night there were cars blasting music as they drove by. The host sent me a message regarding entry access. We were looking for the wifi information as we had virtual work meetings that Friday morning. Couldnā€™t find anything and had to resort to calling Vrbo customer service to assist early AM. Iā€™ve never stayed at a Vrbo residence without a note of some sort with wifi information readily available for guests upon arrival. There was also a faint smell of urine upon entering, presumably from pets, so we had to air it out by opening the windows. Beds were comfy. We went grocery shopping prior to our arrival, so it came to a surprise to us that the oven didnā€™t work and therefore our frozen pizza had to be thrown away. During our meetings we were able to connect to the wifi, however there were few outlets throughout the residence. I could only find one outlet per bedroom; the dining room had just a couple outlets. Bathrooms/shower were clean for the most part.

Friendly hostings

The Host was quick to respond and very accommodating to my groups needs. The place itself was clean and well furnished. That being said the neighborhood is a little far from any grocery or restaurant, but nothing a Lime Scooter canā€™t fix. A great place to stay in Grand Rapids.

With the rental being a brief 10 minute drive from downtown Grand Rapids, I was able to easily access any parts of town while visiting.

Buggy

The listing does not give any info on the parking (only parking was on the street) and did not mention at all the fact the this is an upstairs unit. When we arrived there were tons of flies everywhere. Place was clean otherwise but only two beds and a couch not three beds and only one bed had a blanket on it, had to find another blanket

Quick Visit

The apartment was perfect for us for the one night. It would be nice if there was a welcome binder - local places to eat/delivery; activities; channel listing; as well as what was expected of us for leaving. We had no idea of if we should strip the beds, where we should put the used towels or any trash. It would also be good to know what of the property we could use - chairs on the front porch? Can we sit out on the balcony etc. Overall, I would probably stay again.

New to VRBO

It seems as the owners are new to VRBO. The place was decorated nicely, but the kitchen was not clean, the oven did not work and the kitchen was not well stocked. We found the place late in our search for somewhere to stay for the marathon. It was fine for one night.
