This is a fabulous house in a spectacular one and one half acre garden setting. It is a well loved family home that we have owned since 1986. Our children have learned to water ski, sail, crab, fish, swim and kayak right off of the convenient and charming deep water dock.
The house was built in the 1970's. It is on three levels but the middle floor is the main living floor with two large wings on each side with bedroom/bath (queen beds) in each wing with walk in closets and with balconies The kitchen and great room with fireplace occupy the central part of the house and open onto a fabulous screened porch overlooking the dock, oak trees and the creek. The floors are heart pine. The walls are also pine. There is a loft overlooking the great room with a full bath and three single beds.
The great room has a glass top table that seats 8, a farm table that seats 8, a long counter that seats 8. On the screened porch there is another glass top table that seats 6.
Our crab pots are bringing in lots of crabs. Sitting at the counter with a pile of crabs and lots of newspaper is one of our favorite things. We have crab pots and a large pot in which to cook them.
On the ground level is a large room overlooking the creek with a queen bed, sofa and 2 chairs and stone fireplace. It opens onto a smaller bedroom with queen bed. Each room has its own access to the shared bath. It can be used as a suite, or two separate bedrooms.
The house is easily shared by several couples either with children or without. The bedrooms are widely separated and each has its own bath.
The dock is great for boating, swimming or fishing/crabbing , and boating We have a fleet of boats for your use. Included in the fleet are three kayaks, one canoe, one Sunfish, and a 15' foot jon boat with a 20hp electric start Yamaha. (We do have papers to sign before this boat can be used). Additional kayaks and boats can be rented at the Cherry Point Boat Landing. They also offer sunset cruises and nature tours. or you can enjoy your own boat or our jon boat. Check the website for Bohicket Boat.

The house is owned by 2 sisters. We are both in our 60's, both have 3 grown children. One sister is a retired librarian, married to a retired physician. The other is a retired psychotherapist. She and her husband have sailed their boat from Adams Creek to Europe and the Mediterranean where they now spend their summers.
Jamie Molony purchased this house in 1986
This home was bought by our parents as a family gathering place. The house is roomy and comfortable and ideal for a family. Rockville is a 200 year old charming village full of gorgeous oak trees and charming houses. It is a five minute walk from our house. We are situated on a deep creek that has expansive views over the marsh to the North Edisto River. The setting is gorgeous.
We are boat people so having a true deep water dock is very important to us. The floating dock is 40' long and has 6 + feet of water at low tide. The intracoastal waterway (ICW) and the Atlantic Ocean are both in close distance. There is a boat landing nearby so bring your own boat or rent one near the boat landing.
Wadmalaw Island is a unique place. It is close to Charleston (about 35 minute drive). But it is a world away. It is protected, quiet, natural, un-commercial. However, you can buy shrimp from the docks and a few groceries at PM King's old fashioned grocery store; you can attend the charming Grace Chapel Episcopal Church or the Rockville Presbyterian Church. You can attend the 200-year old Rockville Regatta. You can visit a tea farm or a winery. You can have your boat repaired. You can rent a boat or take sunset cruises or nature tours from the nearby Bohicket Boat Company. You can drive 15 minutes to several fabulous restaurants.
And if you need more city-life, Charleston is a 35 minute drive, offering all the shopping, history, culture you could desire.
In the summer we love to jump in the water, sail or catch crabs off of the dock. Adams Creek is ideal for kayaking and we have 3 kayaks, a conoe, and a Sunfish for your use. We also have made available a 14' jon boat with 20 hp motor which you may use if you demonstrate sufficient knowledge of boats and the water. Many types of boats are easily rented from Cherry Point Boat Landing. We enjoy taking boat trips to Botany Bay or Seabrook Island. We enjoy sunset cruises or sitting on the gazebo facing the western setting sun.
We also love to sit on the dock watching dolphin swim, fish jump or osprey fish. You can quietly read a book or perhaps write your own.
The set-up is perfect for cooking and entertaining. The fabulous, attractive kitchen is well equipped and has lots of granite counter space and cabinets. The pantry/laundry room is right behind the Sub Zero refrigerator and contains another refrigerator and a dedicated stand up freezer,
Our dogs love to run through the trees. If you want to bring your dog, please discuss that with us.
This is just a really nice house in which to spend time. It's nice to have everything on one floor, but then to have the ground level and the loft as places to escape.
The home is great with plenty of room for some to find space alone and yet large enough spaces to enjoy time together as a larger group. There was nine of us. This home offers a country setting in Rockville on Wadmalaw island but yet close enough to Chatleston to enjoy all the big city has to offer and the beach is only 25 minutes away as well. Everyone enjoyed the dock with kayaks, boat and swimming/fishing. We would love to come back if we have the opportunity.
We decided to come to Kiawah for a weeklong vacation. We thought this house looked gorgeous and it was well priced for the 13 of us and we could not have been happier with the decision we made! The location of this house is amazing and the sunsets and sunrises are to die for. The Home was very clean and you can tell very well care for. The Furniture was lovely all throughout the house. The kitchen was very well stocked for our large family. We had everything we needed to cook every night and they even had a broiler so we were able to boil some crabs we caught out on the beautiful dock. The common rooms are very large in size which gave everyone a place to sit and relax but not be all in each other’s space. We loved being able to enjoy the bikes and boats that were provided. The house was very well stocked for all ages. Games, a beautiful tree swing, large porch The children beautiful dock (fully stocked). The neighbors own a beautiful shrimp boat and seeing them come and go was amazing. The owner was amazing, very easy to contact and came to us if we needed anything. It felt like a second home just out in the country and we loved every minute of our vacation We will definitely be back next year. We highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a good time with amazing scenery.
We were able to stay for a long weekend in Wadmalaw, and we could not have been happier! The house is gorgeous and the location is FIVE STAR! The view of the sunset through that massive, twisting live oak from that amazing porch so close to the water's edge is just breathtaking! The home was clean, the furnishings are lovely as well as comfortable and more than your average rental. Kitchen is well stocked with everything you need, and having 2 refrigerators and a freezer was a huge plus! Bedrooms are both beautiful and comfortable as well as spread out, so everyone enjoyed their private time. The common areas are large and comfortable with plenty of space and a seat for everyone. The children especially enjoyed the play things available inside and out - toys, swings, a huge porch and a lovely garden lawn to romp on by the water. We enjoyed watching the dolphins swim by every day and catching crabs with the crab trap provided. A special surprise was watching the shrimp boats next door come in in the morning. The kids loved watching them dock and it drew a large flock of gulls and pelicans. Just spectacular! It was quite a sight for everyone.
The owner was very accommodating and easy to work with. It is evident this home is well loved and maintained and they made us feel very welcome. I regret we weren't there long enough to enjoy the boats and bikes provided, but we will definitely return for a longer stay and bring more of the family back with us! This is the perfect spot for a large family vacation. Highly recommended!
My family celebrated celebrated a milestone birthday weekend here and honestly, no one wanted to leave on Sunday morning. The views from this house are spectacular and the sunsets are not to be missed. The main floor of the house has a great open floor plan with comfortable bedrooms and baths on either side of the main living area. It opens on to a huge screened porch overlooking one of the most amazing old oak trees I've ever seen. The screened porch has a lovely seating area as well as an additional dining area. The kitchen was well-equipped with two refrigerators plus a deep freeze. It was also very conducive to hosting a large birthday party. The downstairs worked well as a separate base for my daughter's family with small children, The children had a great time playing and swinging in the waterfront backyard and the adults loved fishing and paddleboarding off the dock.
Great views. Had a blast on the kayakes and John boat. Large house with open kitchen and living area was great. But this house needs some TLC! Only one TV worked. In the living room. People enjoy "down time" separately. Really out dated tvs in two other rooms that didn't work. You might not think its a big deal when on vacation but it is. Unclear in discription about the bottom floor room setup. Rooms were not cleaned under beds. Dead bugs, etc. Lamps didn't work. Either we couldn't find the light switch for it or the bulbs were burnt out. Still don't know. The furniture was so old and worn it. Couches sunk in. Some beds sunk in. Outdoor storage area (kids toys) were just thrown in a pile. Dirty, unkept. Kind of seems like the house has been giving up on. Needs a revamp or a lil love.
Had fun tho! But won't return!
Our extended family (13 of us) converged on this property from several states for the occasion of my parents' 60th wedding anniversary. It was the perfect location for what we desired--celebration of family time in a restful setting for a full week. The house was well-equipped to handle five couples and three singles. Each couple took their turn cooking dinner, and each of us enjoyed working in the spacious kitchen. Eating in the great room posed no space problem for a group of our size, but our favorite meals were enjoyed on the massive screened in porch, surrounded by the Spanish moss laden trees. Our favorite perk of the property was the floating dock with the available boats. Every day we enjoyed fishing, boating, and the frequent dolphin sightings. Exploring the inlets by kayak was my favorite activity. Although we toured downtown Charleston, went parasailing at Tidal Wave Water Sports, visited Angel Oak, and toured the Charleston Tea Plantation; we were eager to get back to the property to enjoy the dock and the marvelous sunsets. We spent several evenings playing board games together in the great room, and we left behind plenty of laughter in the walls. The property owners were very helpful, and when we called them on a Sunday to report a leak in the kitchen sink, they came over within a few hours and fixed the problem. Yes, we plan to return to this ideal vacation spot. Our grown children refer to this week as our "best ever" vacation!
This property has a fabulous deep water dock. You can swim, fish, crab right off the dock. We have several kayaks, a canoe a sunfish that can be put in the water. There is a boat landing only a few miles away. You can launch the jon boat there (after clearing with us) or you can launch your own boat or you can rent a boat at Cherry Boat Landing. Catch your own shrimp by using available cast nets in the a joining creeks. The 40' float floating dock is equipped with marine shore power(110v) and water connections. It is suitable for large boats.
