On a vacation with my wife, we fell in love with the beauty of the mountains of Colorado. We bought a view lot and eventually built our custom dream home.
There is no better family time then the peace and quiet the mountains offer that allow you to focus on outdoor activities, playing games together or enjoying a movie night after a day of skiing, rafting or hiking.
Walk out your front door and into the forest to explore the mountains of Crested Butte.
A secluded 52 acre 5000+ square foot mountain home where you never see your neighbors and have the biggest backyard / playground imaginable as the development backs up against the national forest.
If you have ever wondered what it’s like to live like a billionaire then just stay at this magnificent 5,250 square foot luxury mountain home on 52 wooded acres high above Crested Butte. It is located in an exclusive gated subdivision accessed by private road from Colorado Highway 12, part of the West Elk Scenic byway that leads over Kebler Pass to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. My wife and I stayed here one week in June. Of the dozens of properties all over the US we have stayed at, this is our new favorite because of the magnificent mountain views and luxury of the home. The snow covered mountain view from the relaxing hot tub is spectacular after a long day outdoors. The owner Jeff and his caretaker Eric were wonderful and accommodating in every way and the friendliest people you could hope to meet. Although completely private high up in the mountains at 10,000 feet, it is only a few minutes drive down to the town of Crested Butte. Walking distance from the property is the Green Lake hiking and mountain biking trail leading either up to this remote mountain lake in the Gunnison national forest, or down to the town of Crested Butte. We went hiking, jeeping, and mountain biking every day in the surrounding wilderness, and returned to the luxury and seclusion of this mountain home at night. Very highly recommended.
Our Christmas week was a winter wonderland, the house is beautiful, we created a sled hill for the kids and adults which was great fun. BE AWARE Our warning is don't attempt the 8 mile trip up the hill without chains on your tires or a 4 wheel drive car. My sons car was stuck on the road thank goodness a snowcat was near and towed him out.
Wow! Wow! Wow! This home is all you could ask for. We spent 2 awesome weeks here and it was simply one of our best vacations. We have 4—almost grown children—who each spent a week here along with a friend. Watching the 2012 Olympics in the theater room was spectacular! We even had our own "olympics" in the arcade room. Cooking in the kitchen is a real treat! And of course, the views of Crested Butte and the mountains are breath taking. Thank you for allowing us to use your home as our home.
I'm not a big skier like the rest of the family, so I only went skiing once in the week we stayed here last Winter. I did the cooking for a couple of dinners and still -- over a year later -- simply cannot get over how beautiful the house, decor, furnishings and views are. The kitchen is a chef's dream! The huge fireplace really puts out major heat so at night we all hung out in the living room around it doing a huge jigsaw puzzle. :) When we weren't in town, we also spent time at the house arcade, watched a ton of movies in the home theater and had a blast sledding down the hill next to the garage. Some of the gang went into the spa. Oh one more thing, the steamer shower upstairs is awesome and I remember using it every day.
I stayed at this property in early December. There was a huge amount of snow, but the plows kept the road nice and clear. The owners were very accommodating and the house was spotless and clean, looked as if we were the first people to stay there. The views are incredible, the pictures do not do this house justice. Everywhere you look are views of the surrounding mountains. Its only 10-15 minutes from town, but you feel like you are the only people on earth when you are standing in the Great room looking out the windows . The kitchen is built for a chef, everything is very convenient. We were there to ski, but during the summer it must be just as beautiful.
We have had the absolute pleasure of staying in this GORGEOUS, AMAZING mountain home 3 times!
It is the epitomy of mountain elegance, luxury and accomodations. All around is forest, mountains, views...and no one else. The kitchen is very well appointed..the best of everything in appliances. You can have many people preparing and cooking together if you want..or just two people!
We ate breakfast on the balcony overlooking the mountains and barbequed at night, amazed at the stars! From the GreatRoom you can sit and look out over the mountains..it is just spectacular! We watched a thunder storm approaching from the room. I will never forget that experience! After a day of hiking or skiing.. sit in the hot tub on the first level with trees all around and the stars at night.completely private...oh my..this is such a beautiful place.
The theatre room is all you could ask for! You can enjoy it with the kids..or if the kids want to play games or watch movies...it is amazing how quiet it is upstairs with them playing away!
It is a very short drive to town where fabulous food can be found...check out Secret Stash. In the summer we have hiked around the hillsides from town and where shoulder deep in the most beautiful wildflowers. In winter the house is a haven...blazing rock fireplace and sumptous furnishings. The kids love the snow...and of course, the skiing in Mt. Crested Butte is fabulous.
Just looking at these pictures tugs at my heart strings...we can't wait to go back! You will love this home and make the many amazing memories there!
