There are 46 High Peaks in the Adirondack Mountain region with many experienced hikers earning the designation of an 'Adirondack 46er'. If you're looking for a simpler, local hike, Mt. Baker may be a good start depending on your physical condition. Approximately 1 mile up and 1 mile down, the base is minutes from the cabin and the summit offers views of the Village of Saranac Lake.
The Adirondacks is a destination for birders regardless of the season.
From and on Kiwassa Lake in the Adirondacks, fish for Northern pike, trout, bass, perch, whitefish and panfish. Whether you prefer fishing the waters of summer or the sub-zero ice that has formed mid-winter, Kiwassa Lake offers some of the best fishing in the Adirondacks. ESPN has also held its Great Outdoor Games Bass Fishing Tournament on the Saranac Chain of Lakes!
This unique attraction in downtown Saranac Lake is a testament to the small town atmosphere of Saranac Lake. Built with donations, on the backs of volunteers, riders can choose from 18 Adirondack wildlife figures and a Chris Craft style chariot. http://www.adirondackcarousel.org
The Wild Center

There are a multitude of local events regardless of the time of year. Saranac Lake hosts multiple annual events with two popular ones being the Annual Can-Am Rugby Tournament in Saranac Lake in August and the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival in February. Lake Placid was the site of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics and is currently the host of an annual Ironman competition.
Year Purchased: 1991
About the owner: We own several properties in the area and this cabin is one of our favorites. We have lived in the Adirondacks since 1991 but have been part-time residents since the 1960s. We even attended the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid! We can offer suggestions for activities unless you simply want to rest and relax in a cabin.
Why the Owner Chose Saranac Lake, NY, USA:
This is the most scenic area in the east! It is an easy place to rest, relax and enjoy life at a slower pace. Kiwassa Lake is an idyllic and quiet lake and most guests return year after year to get away from the hustle and bustle of a faster pace. The cabin offers a wonderful deck with Adirondack chairs that allow guests to put their feet up, read a book and soak up the view of the lake. As night falls, the fire pit on site allows for an outdoor ambiance like none other. Often guests will take in a sighting of our lake loon and its beautiful calls. Other guests have said they have seen eagles, deer, fish jumping, wild types of birds, etc…
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Our property is a dream come true. While there I enjoy bird watching, reading and traveling by boat to the nearby Village of Saranac Lake.
