Privacy and Seclusion - Marsh View 150 Yards from Front Beach

The PALMETTO PEARL is not just another Beach House. It's an exceptional vacation experience. Privacy just 150 yards from the Ocean is hard to find in any Beach Community. That's only one of the many features The Palmetto Pearl has to offer. This absolutely unique original Folly Beach Property has been in our family for over 40 years and was offered as a Vacation Rental in 2012 after undergoing a complete renovation. Since that time we have continued to upgrade the house on an annual basis. During the pandemic lockdown we took the opportunity to completely refurnish the great room and the screen porch. The back deck was completely renovated with a new composite deck. A new driveway with designated parking was also added. The Palmetto Pearl is set back from the roadway on a high lot surrounded by a small forest of Palmetto (Palm) Trees and Grande Oaks. The back deck offers fabulous sunset's with private views of the estuaries and salt marshes of the Folly River. With easy access to the Beach, the Palmetto Pearl is additionally less than a 1/4 mile from the "Washout" reportedly some of the best surfing on the east coast, and the venue for many sanctioned surfing competitions throughout the year. The Palmetto Pearl is in close proximity to all Folly River Recreational Activities such as para-sailing or kayaking and canoeing expeditions. As well, public tennis courts are within 5 blocks of the house, only a short bike ride away or even shorter drive where parking is available. All of this and the comforts and privacy of a family home. Nestled among the Palmettos you can enjoy the Morning Sunrise or Afternoon Ocean Breezes on the screened porch that runs along the entire front of the house without baking in the heat of Charleston's summer sun or catch some afternoon rays or evening cocktails in complete privacy of the back sundeck which boasts a gas grill, generous seating and plenty of space for entertaining or just lounging about. Bicycle and golf cart rentals are also available on the island.

The little cottage is wonderful. Very quiet on the back porch. Super quick walk to the beach. We enjoyed our stay very much. The furniture is very unique and sparked interest in all of us ( the little game table and coffee table) Very cute little place to enjoy peace and quiet and close enough to enjoy the square of Folly.

No outdoor showerVery particular/rulesEx. the house listed a 4 person max and when I changed to the allotted 4 last minute (along with the lengthy last minute contract) that the previous(a day b/f) host at a near by much less pricey home did NOT require… I was all but scolded and was lectured about how couches couldnt be slept on etc Sub par response when reaching out about plumbing issues.. accusatory at best

You rented through VRBO and indicated there were only 2 guests, you and another. Then at the last minute you change the rental agreement to show 4 guests. That changes how we furnish the house. Sleeping on the furniture, I only mention that in our conversation because of the ages and genders of the additional guests. And there is an outside hose with a shower head at the entrance to the front porch and a sign asking to please hose off anything sandy. As for the plumbing, you said yourself that after plunging it numerous times, it finally flushed. I said I would try to get a plumber and you texted back that it cleared and you had no further problems. That occurred long before I could have gotten you a plumber on Sunday July 5th Sorry we did not meet your expectations.

It was a great stay. We loved the location of the property—set nicely back from the road and abutting the marsh. Beach access was great and that part of the beach is quiet which is nice. (Be aware that it’s a mile walk to town. We did not have a car and ended up renting a golf cart.)There were some amenities we wished we had with us but flying prevented us from packing anything extra. For other travelers, you might appreciate a cooler or wagon for transporting your things to the beach and town. We also spent 50 dollars on beach towels that we ended up leaving behind. Hopefully the next renters will have use of them. It would also have been nice to have plastic grocery bags or ziplocs on hand for beach snacks and wet clothes. Though the house didn’t have a washer/dryer, I was able to do several small loads on the sink with soap sheets. The back deck was a fantastic spot for drying them quickly as it gets plenty of sunshine. I didn’t miss having laundry at all as this worked great. Bob was wonderful and accommodating. The check in was with a digital lockbox and a total breeze. I would absolutely stay here again.

The best thing about this place is that it is 120 yards from the beach. The location is wonderful. Parking is easy. The backyard had a marsh setting, but we didn’t really enjoy that because the back porch furniture was not something we wanted to sit on. That furniture could use some updating. The sliding screen door got stuck more often than not so it was just kind of annoying to try to go to the back porch. The front screened in porch was a nice spot to sit in the mornings with coffee.We really liked the shower and we slept well on comfortable beds and pillows.

Fun time in Folly at Palmetto Pearl

Have not stayed at a VRBO on vacation but this was easy to book and communicating with the owners Bob and Shirley made our trip preparation and planning a breeze. The home was beautiful and had everything we needed for a great stay. Would definitely book and stay here again

My wife and I had a lovely stay at the Palmetto Pearl. The proximity to the beach was my favorite aspect. The beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed morning coffee and relaxing in the evening on the screened porch.

Overall, the experience was really good! The beach access is a short two minute walk away and the beach is not packed like it can get down at the pier. Nothing was really bad or wrong, but a few amenities and touches here and there would have made it 5-star. My son absolutely loved the beach house and thought it was perfect though.
