This luxury peg, post and beam timber-frame cabin sits on top of a ridge on 43 unspoiled acres. Note: the driveway is steep and front wheel drive is recommended. Quiet, secluded with spectacular mountain views all around. Follow the less strenuous get-away trail which will lead you to an intimate view of the peaceful valley below while relaxing in an Adirondack chair or on the A-frame swing. Maybe just head down the ridge to Helton Creek, which borders the property, and enjoy the sounds of the bold stream or try your hand at fly fishing for some of the native or stocked trout. Or...just sit on the porch and enjoy the vistas. You may never want to leave! This beautiful home has 3 porches, each with spectacular views. Enjoy dinner or a warm fire outside on the back deck. Build a roaring bon-fire in the camp fire pit overlooking Grayson Highlands State Park. At night the stars are magnificent! Inside, sit on the large hearth of the nearly 30 foot stone fireplace and soak in the warmth and sounds of another crackling fire. Indulge in the many activities close by. The host was very welcoming, had very clear instructions, had great advice to make our stay more comfortable, and was helpful when we had questions. The sunrises out of the huge glass walls were fantastic. The cabin is huge and fun to explore. I can't wait to plan another stay here!
We had such a wonderful stay! The views were incredible—perfect for morning coffee and sunset watching. The trails were great for hiking and we loved having a bonfire in the evening. The kitchen was well appointed, which made cooking so convenient. Our dog had the best time too! A fantastic getaway all around. Highly recommend!
everything was wonderful! The home is beautiful, nice bedding and master on the main level mattress was comfortable. We saw deer on the property and hiked to the top of the hill.
Our group of guys certainly enjoyed the cabin and found it very comfortable. The deck and views were as advertised. Really enjoyed the nice big fireplace with the cold evenings. Kitchen was very functional. As others have mentioned, the drive up from the road is a bit challenging, especially in the rain, but having a 4-wheel drive was helpful.
This is an amazing home, that was the perfect location for being close to our daughter’s wedding in Grayson Highlands State Park. The home was very clean, full of amenities, and absolutely gorgeous! We would highly recommend this home.
The cabin and surrounding area are amazing! Spent most of my time on the porch looking at the views. The cabin itself is a 10 out of 10… didnt want to leave. Plenty of hiking around, great trails in Grayson especially.
The cabin/house was beautifully situated, both for access to Grayson Highlands State Park and to take advantage of deck sitting with beautiful views. We enjoyed all the conveniences of the fireplace, fire pit, grill, and short hike to a crest for even more beautiful views. We woke up the first morning to 7 deer we could watch as we drank our coffee!
My family was able to spend quality time together at this beautiful house. The kitchen was perfect for cooking breakfast, the dining table excellent for puzzling in the bright morning light, the living room for catching up with one another by a fire, the downstairs den for movie nights, and the outdoor paths and porches for beautiful views.
Beautiful cabin, quiet and very comfortable. Near hiking and biking. Loved it!

About the host
Hosted by Sheila Lange
Todd and Sheila Lange have been married for over 30 years, reside in Statesville, North Carolina and have three children, a 31 year old girl, a 29 year old boy and a 22 year old boy. We have enjoyed many happy moments in and around Lily Ridge Cabin and love sharing it with friends, family and guests. Was always a dream of ours to build a home in the mountains and we were fortunate enough to be able to do so. The home and property is near where Sheila's father was born and the Cole Cemetery below the property is named after her family. Lots of history for her and now the rest of us in the area.
Why they chose this property
See above. It is most of all connected to us and extended family and offers a complete and unspoiled retreat from the world. The views are spectacular and at night there is absolutely no light pollution so the stars are limitless. The other things is the connection to the roots of Country Music and Blue Grass legends. Even if you don't think you like Blue Grass Music, try some contemporary takes from Allison Kraus, Sierra Hull, Dan Tyminski or old acoustic classics from John Prine, Jackson Browne while enjoying the fire overlooking the mountains. Turn the overhead lights off and use the floor or table lighting to make your stay warm and cozy. Get a feel for Appalachia through the proximity of Lily Ridge Cabin to the roots of County Music.
