Spectacular mountain views ! 6 acres of privacy !
The views from this private, 6-acre retreat are spectacular: Across the beautiful valley, guests can see the landmark “Hall’s Top Mountain”, and off in the distance stand the mountains bordering North Carolina.
Don’t be surprised to see lots of wildlife during your stay, as Mountain High is a popular place for deer, turkey, birds of all kinds, and even an occasional bear!
Mountain High’s rustic charm will remind guests of the pioneer days in Southern Appalachia, with rough sawn timber and antiques throughout.
And guests will enjoy all of Mountain High’s modern amenities, too, including the stone gas fireplace, full kitchen, and sunken hot tub.
Mountain High is easily accessed by car, as the roads and driveway are paved. Shopping, gas, and eating are only 5 minutes away.

Great view, phone service great, everything you need is at the bottom
Loved the view everything was great the only thing was the hot tub was kinda dirty when we got there and the stink bugs in the kitchen other than that it was great getting to watch the March madness games and relax!
Not actually in the smokies but it feels like it. View is really great. Cabin is cozy. 45 minute drive to Gatlinburg. Good weekend away from home.
long-range views and very good hot-tub, but overall disappointing
This rustic cabin has wonderful views of the mountains, with a hot tub on the deck (hot tub working well -- gets very warm). However, the cabin was older and more run-down that I expected. It could use an exterminator as well; I was turned off by the number of stinkbugs and ladybugs I had to remove. The cleaning crew could have at least removed the dead ones from the window sills; I can't believe they left a "tip jar"! Give me a break. The owner has obviously not spent a lot of time there recently, as the cabin is lacking many basic necessities (for example in the kitchen), or niceties, such as puzzles and such. It was nice to have satellite TV, but how hard would it be to replace the ancient sets with flat screens?? Most unfortunate of all is the lack of a fire-pit on site; no trip to the mountains is complete without a fire, and one would think that a cabin that's been around this long would have a place to roast marshmallows. Lastly, I thought the warnings and threats conspicuously posted throughout the cabin (e.g., "don't flush diapers"??) were condescending and a bit offensive for a cabin of this age and condition. By the way, this property is in Newport, not Cosby as it says on the ad.
What an unfortunate review.
Certainly we need to discuss the housekeeping issue with our team. As for your other items:
Fire pit - your chief complaint is that we didn’t have a fire pit, we do not represent that there is a fire pit in the listing. Many owners choose not to provide fire pits for insurance purposes.
TVs - we do not represent in the listing that there are new TVs. While we understand that new TVs might be preferable to many, this is still someone’s personal cabin, and not everything in someone’s personal cabin is going to suit our personal preferences.
Just like in the pictures
Got here and was amazed at how well the pictures showed the true cabin. We had a very relaxing time.
Relaxing and peaceful
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay - (with the exception of cold rain) but the gas log fp made it feel very warm and homey. The view is wonderful, the convenience of amenities is fantastic and the rustic decor just made the "Feel" of the cabin very inviting. We didn't cook but the furnished kitchen would certainly have allowed for it. The hot tub was a wonderful way to relax at the end of the travel day on Friday- the mattress in the master bedroom is very firm so bring a body pillow if you are used to very soft. Would definitely return to Mountain High Cabin.
True mountain getaway
We had a great long weekend at the cabin! The views were beautiful and the cabin had all the character and charm we were hoping for. We were close enough to stores and attractions but felt completely secluded. Overall a great experience!
