Why owner/property manager chose Covington
This is the home my wife grew up in and then we ended up buying it in 2001. We held it as a yearly rental property but decided in 2011 to renovate it completely and use it as a second home and vacation rental. We went down to the studs and completely redid the interior with all new windows, plumbing, electrical, cabinets, 2 central AC units and refinished the antique wood floors. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
What makes this House unique
The downstairs is set up with the kitchen, dining and living room serving as a great room with a double-sided fireplace. You'll love the large new deck overlooking the river. The house is situated on an acre with lots of trees, bamboo and azaleas. There are neighbors on each side but they are not that close to our house and the lush foliage and trees will make you feel very secluded. All the amenities of the North Shore are just minutes away or drive to New Orleans in about 45 minutes.

Perfect. Just what we needed.
Very nice and quiet. Close to everything. Big enough for the group to all visit in different areas of the house.. Deck was nice and river relaxing. Entry down the driveway added to the seclusion and feeling of privacy. Owners were awesome making sure our stay was perfect.
I would definitely stay again
8 of us were in Covington for a golf event. The accommodations were very nice. Everyone had comfortable beds and all the appliances worked great. Very well kept and clean.
The house was great
We would definitely stay in this house again. The photos don't do it justice. The deck looks out over a river and the surroundings were very peaceful. Out of 5 bedrooms, 4 were big with great beds- especially the master bedroom. The 5th bedroom had a small double bed and a small twin bed. Fine for kids but we had all adults so that room was a bit tight. From a woman's perspective, the lighting in the bathrooms wasn't great for applying makeup.
We loved the house! I would rent it again. Perfect amount of space for 8 people.
Our stay took place during a rainy and cold week so I can’t comment on the outdoor accommodations, and we were worried about our cars getting scratched from all of the low hanging bamboo. That needs to be cut back. Other than the lack of insulation in the flooring, the house was wonderful. The kitchen is nicely stocked and the furniture is comfy. We had enough room to do whatever we needed to do. The location was perfect for our needs.
Thanks for your feedback Debra. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay but sorry to hear everything was not perfect. The lawn guy normally keeps the bamboo cut back but he has not been there since October so we will be sure to address it right away. The downstairs floors do have spray foam insulation underneath but, with a raised, crawlspace foundation, it can still be pretty cold under the house when the temps are in the teens and low 20's as it was during your stay. We seldom have this type of bitter cold weather so I am sorry that the floors were cold for your stay. Thanks again for your feedback and hope to host you again in the future. -Ray
good value, suitable for large family gathering
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Location was perfect for our family gathering for a nephews wedding, was convenient to events in Mandeville and Covington. The house allowed grandparents, children and grandchildren to stay and eat several meals together daily. Large dining room table, kitchen adequate to prepare meals. Beds were comfortable. Owner was very accommodating when he discovered we (grandparents) would arrive early. Property is a little difficult to find initially (we arrived late at night), but the owners instructions were adequate. GPS also helped. I noticed that at least one previous review complained about the humidity...this property is in Louisiana!! I did not notice any excessive humidity problems when compared to other stays in hotels in this area. We would happily stay here again.
Peaceful river retreat
We had a lovely, quiet, private stay at Magnolia Bluff. The property is surrounded by beautiful magnolias, cypress, pines, and oaks. We really enjoyed the deck overlooking the river in the mornings for coffee, and the screened in porch for evenings listening to the rain. Everything is clean and comfortable. Good restaurants and antiquing nearby. We all had a wonderful time.
Glad you enjoyed your stay. We have had 36 reviews and was sorry to see this is the first which did not receive 5 stars. Thanks for your business and I hope we can exceed your expectations in the future.
