Great location in quaint home

  • 4 of 5

This picture perfect little cottage offered the perfect location to enjoy all that Oak Bluffs has to offer. It was a very quick walk to Circuit Ave, the Flying Horses, great restaurants, Backdoor Donuts, parks, the ferry, and Inkwell Beach. This would be an excellent choice for a family not wishing to bring a car to the island (although I'd recommend it to explore the other wonderful towns and beaches on Martha's Vineyard). It was kind of a drag having to bring our own linens and towels and do much of the cleaning after our stay considering the cost, but that is standard for home renting on this island. However, when packing one car for a family of five the linens take up a ton of space. We have stayed at other homes that offer use of their bikes and beach chairs, but with this rental you provide your own. All in all, the house was well appointed, functioned in all ways properly, pleasant and comfortable. We would definitely recommend it to friends and family and would consider staying here again if we return to Martha's Vineyard.

Marathon Weekend!

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful gingerbread cottage was perfect for me & my family. The five of us had a great time and the house is perfectly situated to explore Oak Bluffs and the rest of the island. We were in town to run the 1st ever marathon and it was great to walk/hobble home from the finish line two blocks away. We can't wait to go back!

This cottage was our home for four days. It is a charming, hipster, family-oriented, loving home. The owners are wonderful to work with! These pictures don't do the property justice. When you walk in the front door you are welcomed by so many little touches that make this house traditional vineyard style. Immediate stress relief! My mom has had a difficult time walking as she ages, but there was a beautiful bedroom on the first floor just for her. Upstairs my two girls and I had the pick of four bedrooms! Luxury for a cottage!!! This home is close to really! Three minute walk to your left is Circuit Ave, the hub of Oaks Bluff. Three minute walk to your right and you're off to Inkwell Beach. This beach is beautiful day and night! We loved that there were games in the house to play "after hours." It was also super close to the ferry, which was awesome! This was my 50th birthday weekend and I was surprised with friends and family at a dinner at the MV Chowder Co. It was great that they could get on and off the ferry for dinner without needing taxis! Sad to see them leave the same night, but like I said it was easy for them to get to the restaurant and back to the ferry. Back Door Donuts has a cult like feel. You are drawn in and you just can't stop! It was a nightly late-night run! Mr.Puggs Muggs was my coffee place for our stay! I love my coffee and he's got the good stuff! Note: he opens when he gets there. Don't plan on coffee before 11! Although we had to drive to the Black Dog Tavern, we enjoyed our breakfast there daily! The food is amazing! MV Chowder Co. food was so yummy! The cup of chowder is like a meal in itself. Okay, back to the cottage! This piece of heaven is one to look at if renting in OB! The porch kept mom totally entertained! She met many folks who stopped to chat, ask directions, or restaurant ideas. People wanted to stop and chat about the house. She did not want to give up her throne! Comfy & cozy inside and out! I am hoping to return next year with my family. Heidi and Tony...THANK YOU! When I say it was difficult to leave today, that is an understatement. #memorymakercottage

Oak Bluffs is a town located on the island of Martha's Vineyard in Dukes County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 3,713 at the 2000 census and was estimated at 3,735 as of 2008. It is one of the island's principal points of arrival for summer tourists, and is noted for its 'gingerbread cottages' and other well-preserved late-nineteenth-century buildings.

There are four public beaches in the town: Eastville Beach, facing Vineyard Haven Harbor and adjacent to the entrance to Lagoon Pond; Oak Bluffs Town Beach, bordering Nantucket Sound just south of the Steamship Authority Pier; Hart Haven Beach, further to the south; and Joseph Sylvia State Beach, a barrier beach (shared by Oak Bluffs and Edgartown that separates Sengekontacket Pond from Nantucket Sound. State Beach is punctuated by two inlets that connect the pond to the ocean. The smaller of the two is spanned by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Bridge, which lies wholly within Oak Bluffs, and the larger by the American Legion Bridge, the midpoint of which is the boundary between Oak Bluffs and Edgartown. The formal names of the bridges are generally ignored by residents in favor of the traditional designations 'Little Bridge' and 'Big Bridge.'

Oak Bluffs has a small, tightly enclosed harbor that draws large numbers of recreational boaters, and serves as a year-round home port to a small number of fishing boats. Seasonal passenger ferries to Falmouth, Hyannis, and Nantucket dock along the east side of the harbor, as does a high-speed ferry to Quonset Point, RI. The seasonal car-and-truck-ferry service operated by the Woods Hole, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket Steamship Authority docks outside the harbor, at a long pier projecting into Nantucket Sound, as does the fast ferry that provides seasonal service to New Bedford.
