Wonderful stay at Hutchins Lake in Fennville MI.

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time. EL was a great host. She listened to what we wanted to do and accommodated. Brought her kayak out for our use and brought out the fire pit bowl with wood. You have to deal with a full bed but for people in love it's not a problem. Highly recommended, very quaint but perfect for two. FYI, Velocity Adventures will deliver a kayak to you door for whatever number of days you need it. Kayaking Hutchins Lake is a must. We also recommend Thursday nights music in the vineyard at Fenn Valley Winery, the Duck boat and Sand Dune buggy tours in Saugatuck, Douglas art shops and South Haven. I'm sure there is much more to do...looking forward to our next stay at Eleanor Clough's.

utterly charming

  • 5 of 5

Husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this cottage at Lake Hutchins. Imagine yourself lounging in a two-seater rocker, in a lush park-like area shaded by huge old trees, boats and kayaks and swimmers in the water just a few yards away. This cottage has all the amenities and comforts you could think of, and owner Eleanor is friendly, a wealth of information, and readily available, should you need anything.

It's also a great location to explore Holland, and Saugatuck-Douglas-Haven beach towns, not to mention the Virtue Cider and fruit-picking opportinities. After your day trips are done, have a picnic and watch the sunset right on the front lawn .

Stay at this cottage, explore the area and make some lovely memories!

Adorable little cabin

  • 5 of 5

This was a great spot for a romantic weekend. The cabin is just four rooms: bathroom, bedroom, living room and kitchen, and it is freaking adorable! It had everything we needed and some things we didn't (including a microwave: it was on top of the fridge). We spent most of our time relaxing in the lawn chairs by the fire pit out back, though, and walked across the road a couple times to the lake's only public access, which was a grassy spot with a picnic table. The lake was sand-bottomed and very nice for swimming. The only annoying thing was the constant buzz of lawnmowers during the day on Saturday, but what can you do? People gotta mow their lawns.

Relaxed

  • 4 of 5

We had a relaxing stay at this farmhouse, which is also the owner’s home. It was nice to have wireless internet so we could plan our stay and visits to the surrounding areas; we went to Holland for a day and South Haven for a day. We also went to the winery nearby. We didn’t go swimming, but it looked like a nice lake and the public access was within walking distance. Bed was full size, so a little small for 2 people. I didn’t see a microwave, so I ended up tossing out restaurant leftovers rather than trying to reheat on the stove. The outdoor wooden swing and wooden table could use a power washing and some stain or paint. We enjoyed sitting outside in the evening on the metal outdoor chairs by the fire pit. Overall, this kind of reminded me of a cabin at summer camp or staying at someone's Grandma's home - quaint & relaxed without a ton of amenities, but the point isn't to spend lots of time indoors.

Fennville Farmhouse

  • 5 of 5

EL was a great host and we really enjoyed our stay here. It is very close to Fennville attractions such as the winery and Crane's orchard and it is just across the road from the lake. It is also a very short drive to downtown Saugatuck and Oval beach if you want to check out a more touristy area. The house is cute and has a lot of charm. It lacks some modern amenities but we found it nice to unplug for a few days and just relax.
