Pleasant, Unique San Diego Cottage

  • 5 of 5

My partner and I spent a pleasant week in early February at "Maya's Cottage". We loved our stay! The cottage was very comfortable, located in a quiet, modest neighborhood, a short walk to retail stores and restaurants in the North Park area and a short drive to magnificent Balboa Park and downtown San Diego. The hosts have taken great care to make sure the cottage is well-supplied with everything you will need. There are lots of nice artistic touches throughout, including Marjorie's art work. Marjorie and Steve are very accessible if you need to contact them. Perhaps the best feature is the peaceful garden in back. We spent a lot of time exploring San Diego but were always happy to return and relax in the cottage. We are frequent renters through HomeAway and other sites, and this was truly one of our best experiences. We highly recommend it.

Charming

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was LOVELY, comfortable and so pleasant with a great patio and garden. Marjorie and Steve are gracious hosts. The cottage is a great value, in a perfect location for walking to restaurants and shopping and a short drive to all sorts of attractions. Our daughter joined us for 2 nights and said that the pullout couch was quite comfortable to sleep on. We had a wonderful time. I recommend this property for any couple (or maybe two couples) who want to visit San Diego.

Great place

  • 5 of 5

Visiting from Denmark with our 2 girls (age 12 and 15) and had a great stay in July. Everything is like the pictures and as described. Clean and with lots of towells, soap ect. Great little back yard to sitt and enjoy the nice weather. Location is excellent and close to sights, cafes ect. but we will recommend to have a car to get around.

Only thing is that the cottage is a little "small" when staying with 2 older kids as they are sleeping in the Living room where the Tv is and we all had to sitt very close together - but that is also kind of nice :-)

Wonderful, relaxing cottage in one of the best San Diego neighborhoods!

  • 5 of 5

Marjorie and Steve were helpful and welcoming without being intrusive. Cottage was really comfortable for three people and the outdoor patio was the highlight. Amazing, welcoming neighborhood that offered information about local attractions, etc. We walked to a local park with neighbors for a fantastic view of fireworks on July 4 and felt welcomed into the neighborhood. Overall, perfect choice for SD, which is my hometown!

Centrally located to attractions and many amenities in cottage

  • 4 of 5

Maya's Cottage was very easy to access off the 805. The cottage itself is well maintained and filled with amenities for your comfort. Marjorie had also left a wonderful basket with treats, wine and organic coffee. In the refrigerator we found milk, orange juice and cold filtered water.

The decor included Marjorie's paintings and nice linens. We spent 5 days and 6 nights at the cottage, and we were able to take advantage of many of the San Diego attractions: The Zoo, Museums, Beaches, The Midway, Thursday Farmers' Market, and numerous eateries. A short 3 block walk is The Mission Cafe - Breakfast and Lunch; City Tacos; Chop Suey; and many many more places to tempt your tastebuds.

You can reach the attractions by car, bike, walk, or bus. We enjoyed walking to Balboa park 1.7 miles and taking a drive north to explore Torrey Pines and La Jolla.

Relaxing in the backyard patio was perfect after a long day of activities. Additionally, the cottage has a small washer and dryer for your use, complete with detergent.

The location and amenities make this Cottage exceptional and enjoyable.

Art Filled Viintage Cottage with all the right touches.

  • 5 of 5

WE stayed in this cozy North Park Cottage for 11 nights in June. We enjoyed many things about it... the older vintage vibe has a lot of "soul" that many newer places can't compete with. We loved the outdoor private patio in back. Breakfast and coffee each morning was lovely there.

The quality of the linens and mattress made nights quite comfortable. We slept well. And the kitchen was very well supplied... everything from spices to a "catch all" drawer that supplied notes, scissors and misc handy items. The gift basket on our arrival was an especially nice touch.

We LOVED that there was a printer available... and that the owners were just a phone call away if anything else was needed. An unexpected bonus was the exquisite impressionistic paintings done by Marjorie... one of the owners. These adorn a number of the walls and add a beautiful ambiance to the rooms. We would stay again.
