Romantic Cottage for Two in the Heart of the White Mountains

Bedrooms 1
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 - 7 nights

About the property

Cottage, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

A private, newly renovated cottage surrounded by trees, mountain stream, fields, and spectacular view of the Presidentials. Abundant wildlife out the windows. Not uncommon to have a moose or bear walk by. You'll enjoy comfortable, restful nights in the serene intimate bedroom on quality bedding, including down and cotton. The adjoining bath provides a shower, fluffy towels, and a hair dryer. Unique architectural details throughout were added to create a cozy environment. The kitchen is fully equipped to prepare simple or elegant meals with adjoining dining and spacious living areas. A collection of local guidebooks, maps and reading materials are provided. We've also compiled a list of our favorite things to do in the area, including hikes, dining, and day trips. Many windows let in natural light, sounds, and clean mountain air. There is a small adjoining deck to sit and have your morning coffee or an evening cocktail. The adjoining field is a great place for evening stargazing, a campfire, or a picnic under the maple tree with a spectacular view of Mts. Madison & Adams.. Fall foliage is breathtaking, and in winter, snowshoeing and cross country ski trails start right out the front door. Five major downhill ski areas are within an hour's drive. Many amentities within 5 - 60 minute drive. Day trips can include a shopping trip to North Conway, a scenic trip up the Mount Washington Auto Road, canoeing on the beautiful Androscoggin River, adventurous hikes up Mount Madison or Mount Adams, or leisurely hikes on the hundreds of miles of trails in the White Mountain National Forest or the Randolph area maintained by the Randolph Mountain Club. Clear, cool mountain pools nearby for swimming.

About Larry Jenkins

We have spent the past 36 years creating a self sustained lifestyle. Everything is owner designed and built, including the buildings, landscaping and gardens. We are both retired Larry, a former woodworker, and Yvonne a librarian. We enjoy our beautiful mountain setting and are excited to share it with you.

Larry Jenkins purchased this cottage in 1976

Why Larry Jenkins chose White Mountains

This cottage was built and used as an apartment while we were constructing our larger home on the same property, which was chosen because of the spectacular views of the Northern Presidentials. Our dream of converting it into a vacation rental is now complete.

What makes this cottage unique

The property allows you to get away and yet be close enough to everything you need. The small town setting is friendly, welcoming, and includes many seasonal acitivities without the congestion of typical tourist destinations.

Great cabin with views of King Ravine. Minutes from best hiking. Wonderful hosts. And donkeys. Great North Country vacation.

Beautiful location, perfect little cottage in the woods.

  • 5 of 5

I cannot recommend Larry and Yvonne's "Little House" enough. They thought of everything from the adorable decorations to the cookies that greeted us when we arrived. We loved the location being close to the White Mountains and enjoyed the gorgeous mountain views from the back deck. If you're looking for a private, idyllic, and peaceful place to get away, this cottage will be perfect for you. Huge props to Larry and Yvonne for creating such a beautiful space we hope to visit again some day!

I've never written a review, but this one deserves one. The place was so cozy and the trails surrounding the property were perfect. The hosts were so welcoming helpful (even when I locked myself out at 8am eating breakfast outside!) I hope to come again in the fall

We had the most relaxing stay in this cute little cottage! Larry and Yvonne were amazing hosts, and made sure we had everything we needed. We loved sitting on the back porch with the beautiful views throughout the day. It was very clean and all of the furniture was comfortable. Would definitely recommend staying here! Hopefully we can meet the mini donkeys next time :)

Lovely place and people

  • 5 of 5

I don't think I have anything to add that isn't in other reviews. We second all those positive comments, and will say simply that you are in for an absolute treat at the Little House. And the location is ideal for hiking and snowshoeing. Enjoy!

Beautiful small cottage

  • 5 of 5

We were delighted with our stay at this cottage. The owners are nearby and extremely helpful. The cottage is immaculate and very warm, even though temps dipped below 0. Snowshoe and cross country ski trails are literally right outside the door. Easy access to several alpine ski areas, including Sunday River. Roads were plowed immediately and access from the highway was easy, yet far enough away that there was no sound. Spectacular view of the Presidential Range. We would stay here again in a second if we return to the area.

Since renting our property several years ago I marvel at the number of guests that come seeking refuge from the world beyond Puggy Huddle Lane. Many find it a retreat from their normal lives. Any time of year the cottage is super insulated both warm and quiet so you can discover the peace that comes with silence. In the normal sense of the word, "attraction" it seems our guests are drawn to us as much by the chaos in their own lives as by the quiet we offer. The North Country, as we know ourselves, travels at a slower pace than anywhere else I know. This is most true in the off season when tourists are fewer and further in between but it's also true during peak tourist periods relatively speaking compared with tourist destinations like the "Lakes Region" or the "Mount Washington Valley" .We love our community, Randolph; The spirit of the mountains lives here and has long heritage. There are well over 100 miles of trails in Randolph, The second, third and fifth highest peaks in New England are located in Randolph. (Adams, Jefferson and Madison) Some of our guests spend their time hiking while others come with that intention but never cross the threshold finding the serenity they've come for lives in the cottage itself.
