Secluded Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Loved our stay here. We felt very secluded and we loved hearing the crickets and birds That night. We got a great tour of the grounds, and they gave us a bunch of delicious fruit, macadamia nuts, and coffee that were grown on the farm.

The place was very clean, and the bed was very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again!

Off the grid excellence

  • 5 of 5

My GF and I were lucky enough to get this place somewhat last minute. In the pictures it looked decent enough but it was the price that ultimately closed the deal. We thought we were heading into another subpar place laden with compromises for the cost sensitive traveller.

How wrong we were.

From the moment we pulled off the highway we were awestruck.

We pulled up to a beautiful gate with a passcode immediately giving us a sense of safety and security. From there we headed down one of the most beautiful driveways we've ever seen where we were greeted by a sign with our names on it and Brad, the greatest host in the history of Airbnb.

He showed us around and walked us to our cottage, The Dolphin Cottage, one of several on the property.

The place was cute, quaint and immaculately clean with a few little pleasant surprises I don't want to spoil.

Inside is a far bigger bed than you would expect (king) in a very minimal beach house style space and far more urban comforts than you'd expect for a place in the jungle.

The kitchen is outdoors and so cool and is well enough equipped to prepare almost anything.

The bathroom is detached and again, where you expect outhouse style minimalism and creepiness is a pleasant bathroom complete with on demand hot water.

I could literally type for ages so let me just say that this Airbnb is underpriced and over delivers in every way.

I should also mention that even though we think we're adventurous, we are city people who are scared to death of bugs and that even though this is outdoor living in a lush jungle-esque setting, bugs were never an issue. One night we wanted to play cards outside and Brad even brought over a citronella coil to keep away mosquitoes. There are a few beetles, primarily outside the main sleeping cottage, the odd ant and house fly and tons of adorable geckos and that's pretty much it. You can hang out here and pretend you're a lot thicker skinned that you actually are.

Thanks Brad and Linda! We hope to cross paths again.

Perfect.

  • 5 of 5

This was such a lovely place to stay - so well thought out, welcoming, relaxing - and stunningly beautiful. The cabin itself felt luxurious and had an open air kitchen, deck, really comfortable bed and bathroom - and everything you could need (including snorkeling gear). The farm itself is magical, and you could wander around it or just sit and relax in it and not need to really go and do much else if you are looking for rest, relaxation, and the beauty of nature. We could see the sea from our porch. We mostly met with Brad who was super helpful and knowledgeable - warm and welcoming. I highly, highly recommend this special place to stay.

Paradise realized

  • 5 of 5

This was my second time staying at the South Kona Coffee Resort and it was absolutely heaven. Staying in the Mango House was a nice 'get away' from everything and I loved that it was an 'off-the-grid' house (i.e. using solar power, etc.). It was a tranquil location with birds singing every morning, pheasants walking through the yard and amazing scenery every sunset (not to mention the amazing fresh fruit right off the trees). Brad and his wife are gracious hosts making sure your every need is met. I definitely will be back in the future!

Amazing location, relaxing vacation

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed for two weeks in the Honu Cottage on Brad and Linda's property. We very much enjoyed the cottage with a nice porch, outside bbq, fridge/freezer, sauna, comfy bed, claw foot tub on the patio and tiled inside shower. The cottage sits on an old lava field, and we loved being surrounded by banana plants, many tropical fruit trees (Brad provided us with fresh oranges, avocados, papayas, pineapple, his farm's fresh coffee)and we were greeted by the most beautiful geckos and birds every day. The cottage has no glass windows just screens which really connects you to nature. Brad was very attentive to our needs and took care of any requests/concerns immediately. The Choice market which is on the way to the cottage has fresh veggies and fresh local fish, caught that morning with a selection of fish we have never tasted. We bbq'd shark, blue marlin and other amazing tasting fish. No need to stop at Costco or Walmart. For cooking you would need to use the side burner of the bbq which worked well for us. Great snorkeling beaches close by with 2 step being our favorite, if you like to snorkel and want to see turtles.

Brad and Linda are great hosts, and the cottage was super clean when we arrived. Change of bed sheets and towels is provided, though no washer/dryer. If you like to stay away from the touristy hotels/resorts.......this is the place to enjoy! Thank you, Brad and Linda for sharing your property with us and being a great host. We felt very welcome!
