Happy Tarpon - A special place for you in the beautiful Florida Keys. Enjoy our recently renovated home in the heart of Islamorada. Furnished for easy tropical living. You can swim in the heated pool after a day on the water Boating, Fishing, "lobstering", Sailboarding, Skindiving or Canoeing. Islamorada has it all. Your boat is next to the house in the deep-water boat dock. The dock holds up to a 28' foot boat in the protected canal. You will have direct access to the Back country and world-class flats fishing and it is a short run to the Ocean for world-class deep sea fishing. There is also a fish cleaning station next to the dock with fresh water.

The center-piece of our home is the heated private Pool directly outside the living room and kitchen. Fishermen, kayakers, paddle boarders and canoe enthusiasts alike return year after year. You will love Happy Tarpon. Definitely a great place to relax and enjoy between fishing or scuba or catching lobsters or even sightseeing. !!

Happy Tarpon has 3 bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths. A full-size laundry. And a fully equipted kitchen.
The marble floors, comfortable beds and tropical furniture make this home delightful easy living.
Happy Tarpon is centrally located to all that Islamorada has to offer: Walk 1/2 a block to the Lorelei Restaurant and Marina or to other nearby restaurants and activities. We have excellent shopping, dining, fishing, boating and scuba diving in the Florida Keys.

We had a wonderful stay at Happy Tarpon. It was the perfect location to walk or drive to any restaurants or activities in the area. We loved seeing all the marine life off the dock everyday, renting kayaks and exploring the canals, and swimming in the pool. It was the perfect balance of fun, activity and relaxation.

Great location with very nice pool. Beautiful views of the bay and sunsets. Kitchen was very well equipped. We really liked walking to the Lorelei for breakfast and happy hour. Could not have been nicer. Definitely a place to return when the winters in Wisconsin get cold.

Happy Tarpon Stay

Had a great spring break trip in Islamorada. The Happy Tarpon was exactly as described and it didn't disappoint. We are a pool family, so there were many hours spent in the pool or sunning near by. The communication with the owners was always timely and they were very friendly and easy to work with. Would highly recommend this spot to anyone looking to relax, see some spectacular views and be close to the local attractions.

The best week in islamorada

Happy tarpon was wonderful. The house was the perfect location to bike everywhere. It accommodated our family of 5 perfectly. Comfortable and clean. We enjoyed hanging by the pool and cooking meals at the house: Our boat was right there to come and go fishing, snorkeling and lobstering and bar/ restaurant hopping. Sunset was amazing from the house as well

My dad has been going to Islamorada with his family since the 60s. This is the first year we did not stay in our timeshares and it was so perfect, we might do it again next year! Happy Tarpon is a slice of paradise. The boat dock fit our 28' Grady White perfectly. We loved floating around in the pool and watching the magical sunsets from the comfort of our backyard. Ellen was wonderful with communication leading up to our stay and when we had a question on the first night. I cannot speak highly enough of our time at the Happy Tarpon.

Ideal location on Islamorada

My husband and 2 adult children (18 & 22) stayed for a lovely week at the Happy Tarpon. We stayed previously in 2018 so we knew what to expect. Close to everything in Islamorada including terrific snorkeling and fishing spots as well as the sandbar, all a short boat ride away. Only thing that changed from our last visit was the master bedroom downstairs now has two twin beds instead of a king bed. Stairs are currently challenging for me so using the upstairs master wasn’t an option. All in all though a very nice week in the Florida Keys.

Late Winter Getaway

Had a wonderful week at the Happy Tarpon. The house was perfect for my wife, myself and another couple. We had plenty of room to spare. We particularly enjoyed the backyard and the beautiful pool area. We witnessed gorgeous sunsets from the Adirondack chairs almost every night. Enjoyed launching our rented kayaks and paddle boards from the property (would recommend water shoes for launch). Most days had a mom and two juvenile manatees visit the dock area. The house is in a great location. Lorelei restaurant is a short walk down the road and many other a great restaurants in the area are a short car or Uber ride away. Looking forward to our next trip to Islamorada and the Happy Tarpon.

Have used VRBO many times before and have never been so pleased with our choice. We are a family of 6 and we were more than comfortable with the Happy Tarpon. The pictures do not do it justice. Amazing sunsets. The views everyday for dinner were incredible. Most days we ate outside or at the table with the doors open. We brought our kayaks and was an easy launch from the dock. The kids had a wonderful time everyday with the pool. Very close to anything you need. Owner Ellen very easy to coordinate with. Thank you so much for a wonderful vacation. We had an amazing time at the Happy Tarpon. Ellen(the host) is awesome to work with. The house was clean, has a well stocked kitchen, and the beds are comfortable. We are already planning to return next year! Oh, I don’t want to forget to mention the BEAUTFUL sunsets from the dock and we were greeted daily by the manatees❤️

We grew up in Jackson Hole, Wyoming with a passion for fly fishing. Will Dornan owns and manages Snake River Angler, the largest fly fishing outfitter in Jackson Hole and in Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming. He operates two retail fishing stores. One in Moose, Wyoming and one in downtown Jackson. He employs over 20 full time Wyoming fishing guides.
My mom, Ellen, will answer your inquiries. She might be out fishing but will get back to you ASAP.
Will's love of fishing and the ocean led him and family to Islamorada for the best in salt-water fishing. Will's wife and kids love to fish, stand up paddle board, canoe and enjoy the Manatees in the canal by the house.

Why they chose this property

I walked into the back yard of 118 Madeira, stood on the dock and saw a manatee swimming in the canal. I could also see schools of big mangroove snapper hanging out by the pilings. I have fished all over the world from Belize to Mongolia. I could not pass up the chance to buy Happy Tarpon after 22 years of visiting and fishing here. Islamorada is unmatched for the variety and access to backcountry and offshore fishing anywhere in the world. It is also a peaceful, private location for the family. Islamorada is good for the fisherman and the family with all the activities available in the area.

What makes this property unique

Islamorada is unlike any other place in the world. The variety of water activities is boundless with snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, stand up paddle-boarding, boating, wind surfing, kite boarding, fly fishing, reef fishing, and offshore ocean fishing. The beauty of the Everglade National Park is right out the back door. White herons sit on the edge of the pool and look in our living room window (!!) and the manatees come and visit regularly all winter. Ever since I saw my first 100 plus pound tarpon jumping out of the water with my fly in its mouth I have been in love with Islamorada and the Florida Keys.
