Ormond by the Sea is just north of Daytona Beach, famous for the Daytona International Speedway, Spring Break and annual events for motorcycle and automotive enthusiasts. In addition to all the attractions of Ormond Beach and Daytona Beach, the location is an ideal base for your vacation to Central Florida. From here, you’re 50 miles south of Saint Augustine, 60 miles from either Orlando, Disney, Universal Studios or the Kennedy Space Center and Port Canaveral, and just 80 miles south of Jacksonville.
Ormond Beach developed at the turn of the 20th century as a vacation retreat for the country’s ultra wealthy, including the Vanderbilts, Flaglers, Astors, and John D. Rockefeller, whose home “Casements” now serves as the Ormond Beach Community Enrichment Center. Early automotive pioneers drove their motor cars up and down the hard-packed sand beach, earning it nick name, “The Birthplace of Speed”. Driving is still permitted on parts of Ormond Beach but cars are prohibited at the northern end of the beach.
The City of Ormond Beach is located on either side of the Halifax River, which is part of the Intra-coastal Waterway (a series of federally maintained navigation channels extending from Norfolk, VA to Miami, Fl). There are wonderful walking trails along the river.

About Kim and Leonard Brusatori
I inherited Bluebird Cottage from my father when he passed away several years ago. Before him my grandmother owned the cottage which she purchased in the early 1960's. My husband and I live in Texas but hate the idea of giving up such a family heritage. So we rent the house as often as we can and enjoy it ourselves several times a year. We just love the beach - watching the waves, surfers, pelicans, dolphins, turtles and people. The beach is never the same two days in a row. We have a dog named Bailey and he loves to come with us. Therefore we have a pet friendly home.

Why Kim and Leonard Brusatori chose Ormond Beach
Ormond Beach has a lot to offer. It has great restaurants, shops and parks. It has a very interesting history which you can explore through the Ormond Beach HIstorical Society. You are only an hour and a half from Disney World, St. Augustine and Cape Canaveral- which makes for fun day trips. Daytona Beach is a short distance away and the Daytona 500 Speedway is always fun to visit. Then there is the beach! The beach in Ormond by the Sea is clean with hard packed sand and the beuatiful blue/green water is always inviting- no matter how hot it is. When your done at the beach you have lots of other things to do- or if your like me a good book will do ya. John D Rockefeller chose Ormond Beach as his last home before he died at the age of 97. His doctors had told him that Ormond Beach was one of the healthiest places in the world to live. As we all know John D Rockefeller, without doubt one of the richest men in the world, could have lived anywhere in the world. There is something about the area that just makes you feel good and Mr. Rockefeller knew it.
What makes this Cottage unique
There is nothing like sitting on the porch in the morning in the rocking chair and watching the sunrise. I could sit on the porch all day. Its a great place to pass the day. If you want to take a walk you are less than 30 steps to the beach. We have a Starbucks which is only a few miles down the road. A donut shop is within walking distance. So is some of the greatest pizza parlors and sandwich shops. If you haven't driven The Loop then you need to google it and take the ride. The drive is through some of the most beautiful, pristine countryside you will ever see. Just down the street is a kayak rental. If you like to fish there are several charters leaving from Ponce Inlet where you can see the lighthouse. If your less adventuresome you can try surf fishing right outside the front door. Needless to say you will not be bored! There is a Publix grocery store less than a mile away which is very convenient and the house is less than 5 minutes from a great shopping district.

The location was wonderful; the view of the ocean was striking; the unit was quiet, well furnished, comfortable, and the neighbors were exceptionally hospitable. We did enjoy the fishing when the ocean conditions were suitable and we did catch fish--one was a 16-inch pompano, the biggest that we ever caught. On several occasions, we caught fish on the pier at Navarre, located about 15 miles north. We
will have lasting memories of staying there.
Unforgetable And Beautiful
This was our first time staying at the Bluebird Cottage for our Thanksgiving week vacation , and it was absolutely wonderful. The cottage is beautiful on the inside making you feel right at home with everything you need and then some. Very clean , with plenty of room. And to be only a few steps away from the beach, and smelling the ocean, now that's what I'm talking about . Bluebird is the place to stay for us when we come to Florida, and the owner is truly a sweet lady to talk with. Try it, make your next vacation at the Bluebird Cottage, you wont regret it.
This is a beautiful home, well furnished and very comfortable. I was very pleased
Comfortable, wonderful neighborhood, close to everything yet far enough away for peace and quiet if that's what your looking for. Well stocked kitchen and very comfortable furnishings. The owner was attentive and ready to help anyway she could. The proximity to the beach was astounding and there was joy every morning when I opened the blinds to the big windows. The fenced in yard was so handy for my pups, just keep in mind it's a none-dog beach, and people will let you know that. ( I had one man follow me down the beach yelling and cussing at me). Nothing to do with the property, just be aware of the rules. The closes dog park is a ways away. I loved my stay there and I will be renting this home again. Thank you .. Lisa
Comfortable, clean and private
We loved this place :-) definitely coming back!
Wonderful beach cottage with beautiful sea view, beach just steps from your door. Excellent home owner who is very considerate. Cottage is furnished with everything you need for a great beach stay.
awesome view and excellent location
the minute we walked in,we were amazed at at the decor and comfort of the entire place, the best view you could ever have of the sunrise in some of the pictures the sun looks like a sunset beautiful and lots of things for the beach an awesome weber gas grill everything was wonderful
The beach house is only an hour and a half away from Disney World, Universal Studio, St. Augustine and Cape Canaveral. The Daytona Beach Speedway is only minutes away if your a race fan. The beach is always the place to go and its right out your front door at Bluebird Cottage. There are movie theaters, wonderful restaurants to enjoy close by and historical places to see. Ormond Beach was the pick of John D. Rockefeller in his day to build a home where he hoped to live to be a 100 years old. There must be something about this place as he could have afforded to live anywhere in the world.
