We stayed here in June of 2024 and loved it. Pamela was a fantastic host and the property was lovely. It was very well appointed, in a great location and had a beautiful view overlooking the sea. Pamela was very helpful, providing assistance with our arrival as well as suggestions once we were there. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great stay in Riomaggiore!
My son and I recently traveled to Italy and had a 3 day stay in Riomaggiore. Pam’s place was an oasis and by far our favorite part of the trip! She was very helpful with tips and tricks.
I hope to be back some day!
Clean, beautiful view on top and walk to town isn’t bad (it’s similar to any of the cities and vertical) The hostess notes are fantastic as is her willingness to assist The place itself is great Solid AC, good space, great amazing view of the sea, quiet to sleep, yet close to the action
If you are looking for a quiet place with a beautiful view this is it!! Pamela made things very easy. Check in and parking were a breeze and the kitchen was fully stocked with all you would need for cooking.
Clean and nice home. Would stay there again for sure!!
Thank you for our wonderful stay! We enjoyed ourselves.
The home was spacious and the views are incredible. The home is very well-appointed and extremely clean. The location is great - surprising how quickly we could get from the home’s high perch down to the waterfront or the train station. Pamela is an amazing host - consistently good communications, responded quickly to all questions during our stay, thoughtful touches for guests. Highly recommend this home to friends and family and would stay here again on another visit to Riomaggiore.
Pamela is an excellent host. Her property is a home away from home with spectacular views. Spotlessly clean and a wonderful place to be with our adult kids. Great kitchen with everything you might need for cooking. We loved it and will be back.
Property was very clean and neighborhood was quiet. We were two old ladies who managed the hill without problem.
Pam was helpful in getting us situated and our stay was delightful.
Pamela was an exceptional host and extremely helpful. The house was so relaxing and in the best position with fantastic views in the morning and unforgettable sunsets. We had an amazing stay and we were sad to leave. I highly recommend a stay here at Pamela’s as you will never be disappointed. My top stay on my whole travels. Thank you Pamela
Pamela met us at the train station and accompanied us to her house which was so great because we took two elevators plus some steps to reach her place. She showed us everything we needed to know, recommended some great restaurants and hikes. The house was very clean and we enjoyed a welcome bottle of white wine. It’s close to restaurants and shops. Beautiful views could be enjoyed by the outdoor seating. Quiet and away from crowds. We had a great time there!
Fabulous property with breathtaking views. Very clean and well stocked to cook on site or a short walk to a lot of food options with local flavor!
My wife and I were traveling with our three adult children, and the space worked perfectly for us.
Host Pam was awesome! Welcoming, kind, and willing to help with providing information and history about the area of Cinque Terre.
As an experience world traveler and a VRBO host, I highly recommend a stay with Pam a her beautiful seaside home. We will be back!
Peaceful and beautiful home with an outstanding hostess
The home is clean, comfortable and well appointed with gorgeous views. Our hostess was just wonderful and provided all of the comforts of home. If you are looking for a place to stay in Cinque Terra, I highly recommend this home and the town of Riomaggiore and I would love to return when I next visit Italy.
Note: Riomaggiore is built into the hills and this home is on the side of a hill so there are a lot of stairs. Someone with mobility issues may find this challenging.
After choosing Riomaggiore as our homebase in Cinque Terre, Pamela’s home was the perfect place for our group of four to stay.
The home is large and roomy; Pamela provides all the essentials for the kitchen, bathroom and bedrooms; and the view is the cherry on top. Easy access to the village itself and though the home is perched high a top the village, there are 2 municipal elevators to which Pamela will provide access to, if you don’t feel like climbing back up to the house from the village or train station.
Pamela is so helpful and easy to communicate with. Staying at Pamela’s home was the perfect, relaxing way to kick off our 2 weeks of travelling through Northern Italy.
Whilst the decor and furnishings are a little dated- the location/view , spacious property , cleanliness and friendly help and suggestions of what to do / where to eat etc from Pamela the owner ,make this an excellent place to stay in Rio.
We had a perfect 4 night stay as two mature couples .
other reviews had mentioned the steps, but they were really not an issue & ensured a quite location away from the day tripping hordes - with marvellous views and sunsets.
However due to the steps and cobbled stones we did get a taxi from Le Spezia station to outside Pamela’s front door - which was 45E and well with it if you’re travelling with heavy cases .
Pam's home in Riomaggiore couldn't have been better, would highly recommend.
Pam was a wonderful host, a great communicator, and when she couldn't meet us, she made us feel right at home with her local assistant Simone. She even left us a bottle of wine and sparkling water in the refrigerator.
The home was spotless. The views were amazing. She left out chairs in the outdoor areas for us. Beach towels. She thought of everything.
The house is high up a steep incline, but for the views, totally worth the climb. If climbing is not easy, you might want to take advantage of the luggage service which Pam will give you the information within her very handy package after booking.
This is a wonderful family home to enjoy paradise.
The location of the home was perfect for us. It is up on a cliff just a short walk from the main street of Riomaggiore. The view from the main family room and the garden sitting area are breathtaking! We loved the location because it felt removed from busy street with the tourists, but it only took a few minutes to walk to restaurants and the main walking street. The views alone make this place worth it! There are two bedrooms (one with a king and one with three twins) so while my family of five was cozy (lots of sibling togetherness!), it worked out perfectly. The kitchen is really nice and fully equipped with everything you need to cook in style! The host was super helpful, easy to communicate with and offered lots of suggestions which were great. I will note that she lives in an adjoining but very separate area. It was not an issue at all, but it was helpful to have her close by because she was so helpful with her suggestions. I would stay here again in a heartbeat - great value for the cost definitely!

Top of Riomaggiore!
We loved Riomaggiore and were pleased with this accommodation and amazing view but would probably rate it 3 1/2 due to some neglect. The villa was clean, beds were comfortable and the kitchen equipment was more than adequate. Our only suggestions for improvement would be to 1. ensure the kitchen and bathroom cupboards are organized before the next guests arrive. There was a little bit of this and that in every cupboard with some food opened and not stored properly. It was nice not to have to buy all the condiments however. 2. take better care of the landscaping so guests feel more comfortable and can better enjoy the view sitting down on the lawn. It was disappointing to see so many dead or dying plants and grass. We watered some but it was too late for many plants and the grass was weedy and dusty. We also think the patio and garden furniture need replacing. We went out on an adventure every day but spent most mornings and evenings at the villa and wanted to sit outside where we could enjoy the view. The wooden patio chairs were uncomfortable and the lawns chairs were old and dirty with no side tables. We would have preferred to be on the lawn but it was not inviting. Having said all this, we did enjoy our stay but would rate it at 3 1/2. Thanks to Pamela for her good communication with the booking and information!
The stay we had at the house was wonderful. The views of the house from the living room, main bedroom and front yard were exactly as shown in the picture; nearly a 180 degree unobstructed view of the Mediterranean. The house is high up the side of the hill as compared to many other properties in Cinque Terre.
The house was also exceptionally clean and well appointed. Pamela did a great job and was an excellent host.
The perfect place and host for a first stay in Cinque Terre. Great location, stunning views, house was well stocked. Pam was outstanding, very helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed Rio Maggiore.
Lovely stay! Spacious home, great kitchen, very large master bedroom! Great views and a nice outdoor space! Very helpful to have washer/dryer! And the owner is on-site and available should you need guidance. Located at the top of Riomaggiore with beautiful views!
Everything about our experience was exceptional! Fantastic location Out of the fray of the busy village. Fabulous views, very roomy, lovely hostess! 5 stars all the way!
Perfect for a private and relaxed stay in the Cinque Terre. It’s steep getting to and from the property, but that’s to be expected in Riomaggiore, and clearly indicated in the information. Having space in the garden to enjoy morning coffee or wine/limoncello was especially delightful. Pamela was very easy to work with!
Property is in a great location to experience the views of the town and sea. Getting to downtown or the train is easy, if not don’t mind the uphill climb when returning home. Pamala does a great job making sure the property is in great shape and she welcomed us with a couple of nice surprises in the frig. The only downside of our visit was we had to leave. I highly recommend this property for its location, amenities and service. We hope to visit again soon.

About the host
Hosted by Pamela Bonanni
My family has deep roots in the Cinque Terre. My father was born in Riomaggiore and emigrated to America as a young man. Although I was born and raised in Florida, our family returned to Riomaggiore for long summer vacations whenever we could. When my children were born, I wanted to instill in them a love of their unique heritage. So we moved to Italy, to the village of our ancestors! The years we lived in Rio were magical, but personal reasons brought us back to Sarasota, Florida. We treasure the time we can spend in Riomaggiore, and love being able to share this special spot in paradise with our guests.
Why they chose this property
The views are spectacular! The location is private and quiet, yet convenient to public transportation and all that Riomaggiore has to offer.
What makes this property unique
A spacious, independent house, rather than a small apartment, with charming outdoor terraces and gardens.
