Welcome to The Spotted Sandpiper Cottage! Our spacious 2,600 square foot. 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath home is the best of both worlds, tucked away on a quiet street but also in the heart of the West Cape May restaurant district. This centrally located, and updated cottage is 1.5 blocks from popular West Cape May restaurants, a short 10 minute walk to the Washington Street Mall, bird sanctuary and Cove Beach or a quick bike ride to Beach Plum farm, wineries, the lighthouse, and Sunset beach. You can even see the ocean at a distance from the second floor windows on a clear winter day and hear the ocean on quiet summer nights! We are located across the street from the bird sanctuary. Park in the paver driveway with room for up to 4 cars and relax on the enormous wrap around porch. Four bedrooms that can easily accommodate up to 11 guests with 2 King beds, 1 Queen and 5 Twins all located on the second floor. Generously sized, fully equipped kitchen with granite counters, stainless steel appliances, and plenty of seating. Two large living rooms, one with a gas fireplace for cozy nights playing board games with friends and family after a long day. Outdoor shower, grill, fire pit, patio, beach chairs, beach tags, beach toys, two zone HVAC, WIFI, and smart TVs. We have availability year-round and are the perfect location for your spring break or summer vacation as well as the Fall bird migratory season, the West Cape May Christmas Parade and all the holiday activities in town! We welcome all dogs, without breed or size restrictions because you shouldn’t have to leave any of your family members at home. Come experience all that Cape May has to offer at our well-appointed vacation home on a quiet street that’s close to all the action. Hi, we are the Elliott family: Jim, Dani, Luke, Ryder, and our beloved dogs Indy a German Shepherd and Summer a mixed breed. Our home is in PA but our hearts belong to Cape May. We fell for Cape May’s small town character, family owned businesses and of course the Victorian homes. We had problems finding pet friendly accommodations as we had two dogs that couldn’t go to a boarding facility. It wasn’t an option to take a blind dog with Addison’s disease or a senior aged dog with Degenerative Myelopathy. We needed to bring them with us or not go on vacation. Fast forward to 2019, we bought our first fixer upper on Washington Street in the historic district, renovated it and opened as pet friendly! Through our guests we learned that they too had a hard time finding pet friendly accommodations that are updated and clean. After operating the historic home in Cape May City we knew we wanted to add an additional option in West Cape May in a location close to the mall and beach but also the quiet neighborhood feel that West Cape May has to offer. We were lucky to find what became The Spotted Sandpiper in the best location and spent the beginning of 2024 painting, decorating and making big plans for the future. We spend every off season making additional improvements to both homes in order to give guests the best experience. We are proud to exceed expectations for pet friendly rentals and have many guests return every year. We are pet friendly in memory of Bella, an amazing Siberian Husky who despite all odds lived a full but short life and Seka, an absurdly intelligent German Shepherd who loved tennis balls so intensely she wore down her teeth. We are happy to welcome all dogs regardless of size or breed so that everyone can enjoy the living Norman Rockwell painting that is Cape May.

It is both quiet and close enough to walk to the Washington Street mall and Cove beach. The streets are wider in West Cape May with less traffic which is perfect for the kids to ride bikes or to walk the dogs. As an added bonus we can hear the ocean on quiet nights.

The house is spacious with two separate living rooms when you want to have adult conversations while the kids are watching a movie in the other room. There is also ample dining space for holiday dinners or larger family gatherings. The most important feedback we receive from guests however is how impressed they are that the house is not a typical pet friendly rental. It is clean and updated and decorated and the kitchen is fully stocked with cookware. The open floor plan is family friendly as well for young children. We also provide a fenced in rear yard and added a gate to the front porch for extra protection for the kids and dogs.
