Bohemian Modern Home In Silver Lake

Nestled in the historic Silver Lake hills, this tranquil 50's home has been lovingly renovated into a modern escape with fantastic views and a sweeping backyard.

The original 1950s three-bedroom, two-bath home features a mix of vintage appliances and updated, hand-built modern touches. The three bedrooms all have their own closets. Enjoy morning coffee from the back balcony, or relax on the front porch under the smell of orange blossoms.

The entirely separate lower studio has been transformed into a stunning apartment. It has its own fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. The living space opens up into a towering 12-foot-high indoor/outdoor room with sliding translucent doors. This one-of-a-kind room defines the california indoor-outdoor experience and earned it a feature in Sunset Magazine.

This home was featured in Barbara Bestor’s Bohemian Modern, the book that defined Silverlake architecture. Location is everything, the house is close to everything Silver Lake offers: good coffee, cool record shops, groceries, great restaurants, local gift shops, and more. (see our blog for more) We’ve lived in Silverlake since 1999.

This is our chance to have you enjoy the neighborhood we love so much! We find this home is perfect for a wide range of people, from a large family, to two couples, to grandparents and kids. We’ve left a number of toys in the space so kids can be entertained on holiday. The rear house has a large modern landscaped backyard with a large flat lawn with artificial grass. Parking on the exterior driveway & street parking are available.

Beautiful, safe property

We had a wonderful stay at this Bohemian home near Silverlake. The home was very clean and in a very safe neighborhood. Street parking nearby was challenging to find. The weather that week was also abnormal in LA and the thermostat was scheduled in a way that made it too cold during the day and too hot at night. Otherwise, wonderful stay!

Dreamy home, dreamy location

This may be my favorite of the many VRBOs I’ve stayed at, and I can’t recommend it enough. Our family stayed for two weeks while displaced from the Eaton fire and amid so much stress and uncertainty, we found calm and home here. The space is beautiful and clean with impeccable style and a gorgeous hilly view, the hosts are super friendly and accessible, the location is amazing and we enjoyed many walks around the reservoir. We were obsessed with the downstairs studio (incredibly cool indoor/outdoor space), and I wish we’d used jt more. Bonus that the home was kid friendly with toys and games! I would jump at the chance to stay here again.

Great place for a multu-generational family stay.

The lower level studio worked well for us two older folks, while my son, daughter-in-law and grandson has the main house. The location is great,near shops, restaurants, and recreational activities. The hosts are very responsive and clear in their communications.

Perfect space

This property is perfect for families or friends who also seek privacy while also enjoying time together. It has a well thought out floor plan and its convenient location means one can even walk to get groceries or coffee or items at the drug store without using a car.

Convenient stay in silver lake

Responsive guests, clean home, great location. We chose to not use the downstairs studio since it’s a bit remote and walled off from the rest of the house.

Amazing oasis in silverlake

We had a wonderful stay in this quiet, beautiful home. Traveling with two kids under 5 is a challenge, but this house made it so much easier than we expected. Beautiful yard, perfect location, amazing beds!

Bright and airy Silverlake Home

We had a great stay at the Zen Haus. It was spacious, clean, stylish, and comfortable. We loved the pink countertops and retro oven in the kitchen, the spacious backyard for our pup, and the neighborhood was lovely. The hosts were easy to communicate with and very kind. Highly recommend!

Hi! We are Katie and Dylan Robertson, longtime Silverlake residents who want to share our home with you. We've lived in Silverlake Since 1999 when we fell in love with this eclectic and artistic neighborhood. We’ve seen the area grow and flourish.

This house is a family affair. We have updated it over the years to keep the original charm but with modern touches. Our kids were raised here and played on the block with our neighbors and friends.

With a background in the rental business dating back to 2000, we're veterans at hosting guests. Katie's expertise in property management ensures a smooth, professional experience. We're here to assist with any needs you might have during your stay.

Outside of rentals, Dylan is engaged in documentary filmmaking and actively participates in the Fireflies cycling group, supporting City of Hope Cancer research. We believe in living a life filled with passion and purpose.

Throughout your stay, we're on hand to answer any questions about the property or provide local recommendations. Our aim is to make your visit both comfortable and memorable.
