Tour Historic Gloucester Courthouse - walk to Main Street!

Comfortable home on a quiet cul-de-sac, convenient to Yorktown, Williamsburg, and Middle Peninsula. Walking distance to Gloucester's award-winning Main Street merchants and restaurants. Two blocks to farmer's market in season (March - Dec.) Historic Courthouse, cafes, restaurants, art galleries and Gloucester Brewing brewpub all within 1/2 mile. Enjoy privacy and security during your visit. This was the home of a retired schoolteacher and hopefully retains her generous personality. It offers a variety of books for reading and quiet contemplation.
If your desired dates do not appear available, please let us know as we can often be flexible with our use of the property.
There are just three steps up into the home from the driveway. The master bedroom is on the first floor and the en suite bathroom has a large shower with a low step. The remaining three bedrooms are on the second floor, and they share the upstairs bathroom.

Kitchen was fully equipped. The house is very warm and more like staying in a friend's home than in a rental. We felt very much at home there. The information left by the owner on the history of the house made us understand that it was a family home. I would love to return there for a family gathering in the future.

Kitchen was well equipped. House is very charming and comfortable. Grounds are lovely with lots of plants and shrubs. John the host was very helpful and easy to contact. If we were to visit the area again, this is where we would stay.

What a comfortable and delightful time we had at Zanoni! Plenty of room, comfortable beds, nicely appointed kitchen, and all on a wonderfully wooded lot. We would love to visit again.

We had been here several months ago, when visiting family, and were delighted that this rental was available for the next visit. A bunch of girlfriends getting together for relaxation and fun was achieved in this beautiful home. Located in a quiet neighborhood and possessing all the room we needed to be together and have separate bedrooms. Everything we needed was found in the house. Thank you!

Could not have been more pleasant

We stayed for 4 nights while visiting family nearby, and had a most pleasant, relaxing stay. The house was roomy, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. We especially enjoyed looking through the extensive book collection (we would have loved more time to read!), sitting on the screened deck overlooking a wooded area, and the well laid out kitchen. Our host was readily available when we had questions. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us.

A wonderful stay in Gloucester, VA

We (two couples) stayed at John Dudley's lovely rental property in Gloucester, VA for four days in October 2024. It was perfect! and John was the perfect host! He was easily accessible should any needs or questions come up. For any future travel plans we might make and in any worldwide location, if we could "package" this rental property and take it with us, we would do that in a heartbeat !!!

Tropical storm Debby made traveling very difficult. John graciously worked with our issues and made sure we arrived safely. House was as described and would definitely recommend the home. Very cozy.

Peaceful and relaxing

We rented the property because it was close to my daughter’s wedding. Very accommodating for my husband and our son and his spouse and two kids. Plenty of room. Plenty of bathrooms. I wish that the only TV wasn’t in a bedroom upstairs in the sitting room. I wish it was downstairs in the living room. But we dealt with it by watching the iPad downstairs. The water was hot for our showers. The host is extremely nice. The process of checking in is super easy. Because of the weather, the spiders were out at night and a couple of lil ants were in the kitchen sink. We had a very relaxing time when we weren’t busy with wedding stuff. Thank you so much for your hospitality. Would def stay again.

Famil Stay for Busch Gardens

My family stayed and had a wonderful time. The town is so cute. We went to Busch Gardens for a few days and it was only a half hour away. The home was lovely and so cozy. We loved the back porch.

4th of July Trip

Was not sure what to expect before we got there. Imagine my surprise when I arrived to such a lovely home. Situated perfectly 20 minutes from the beach, and a block from Main street, to visit all the art attractions and shops. Very clean and comfortable, especially the bathrooms and kitchen. Felt like home away from home. Two porches, including one screened in for relaxing. Plenty of books and doodads and charming antique pieces to explore and discover for those families who have a love of the unusual and historic! Host was readily available any time we had a question, and the visit includes brochures about the area, and a full stocked spice drawer, pots and pans, glassware, which was a delight and relief. The yard provided plenty of privacy, and was well maintained. We saw japanese elm, a fruit tree, and even had a friendly visitor in the form of a chipmunk and very pretty variety of birds, perfect for those families who love a little bit of nature as well. Beds were clean and comfortable, and with four rooms, a dining room, and a lounge room, there were plenty of places to rest and relax even if we had brought a large group. Only thing I'm hesitant to do is recommend it..someone might end up booking at the same time my family is booking it again! Okay, okay , on a seroius note...we had a good stay, loved the property and would definitely recommend. Thanks John.

Great place!

John was a wonderful host and communicated promptly! The house is in a quiet neighborhood, just a short walk to downtown. Very clean and had everything we needed. Nice deck area to sit and enjoy morning coffee.or end the day with a glass of wine. We will definitely stay again in the near future.

We use the home when visiting family in the surrounding communities, and we enjoy the small-town charm of Gloucester Courthouse. We can reach several parks and other facilities within 5, 10, 15, or 20 minutes, allowing us to hike or enjoy on-the-water activities such as sailing or kayaking.
