Relaxing and beautiful area!
An absolutely amazing vacation! There’s the yard and the ocean, that in itself was amazing! Definitely bring water shoes though, since both our daughter and myself had crabs crawl on our feet.
Which brings me to the wildlife! We saw hermit crabs, Blue crabs, hawks, geese (they visit at night, and sometimes leave little presents, so watch where you step!) the high and low tide were fun to discuss with our kids as well! At low tide, you could walk 300 yds to where there’s a pole with a bird’s nest. But careful, they squawk and circle you if you get too close.
The internet is a tad bit slow, but we found that a plus as opposed to a minus, so leave work at home! It forced us out and about. We also did Jamestown, Williamsburg and Yorktown. Each were a full day event for us, but we’ll worth it! Ashley leaves a lot of valuable information in a binder. To the house itself, it is impeccably decorated! Straight out of HGTV!
The outside porch was our favorite though, different seating areas to enjoy the view. But make sure to bring bug spray at night! The beds were also amazingly comfortable (on the softer side), that me and my husband are considering buying the same kind for home.
We can’t say enough of the memories we’ve built here!
Took the family here for a week vacation, can’t believe how beautiful and warm the house felt, locals are all nice, secluded but still close to everything. Had plans to explore the local town and Williamsburg but ended up just staying put and taking in the scenery and enjoying the beach as well as fishing. Took the kids to Busch Gardens for a day which was an easy drive to and back and still was able to open and close the park.
Highly recommend for anyone looking to get away but want to stay close enough to civilization for the essentials.
Owner was extremely nice, we lost power during a storm and she went to the store for flashlights and hand delivered them to us right away. Definitely went above and beyond what she should have and we are extremely greatfull!
Perfect spot for a quiet vacation
We arrived a few minutes early and let ourselves into the house. We immediately were struck with the cleanliness and brightness of the house. A couple minutes later Ashley, the owner, stopped in. What a sweet lady! She was still in the process of stocking the house. She supplied paper towel, toilet paper, linens, cleaning products, coffee filters-it was awesome. So well stocked! The kitchen has all the amenities we could have asked for-blender, toaster, coffeemaker, ice maker, dishwasher, washer and dryer.
Having never been to this area before, we never expected the level of peace and privacy and solitude we had. The neighbors were in for the 4th of July and put off some fun fireworks, but other than that we essentially had the whole cove to ourselves. The big grassy yard provided space for some adult games as our grown children tried to get the best of the “old farts”. The two kayaks were in great condition and we used them several times throughout the week. The screen porch was the perfect place for family dinners and evening card games.
We took one day to travel to Richmond, and were impressed with how close we were-just an hour and some change. If solitude is not your thing, this may not be the place for you. But if you just want a couple hours of civilization Gloucester Courthouse is pretty close and has some cute shops and all the normal stores you need for essentials.
This week was all about spending time with our grown children, and it was the absolutely best place for it. We will definitely be staying here again, and I’ve already recommended it to several friends.
Impeccably clean home with close beach access
This house was absolutely perfect for our family! The home was perfectly clean and so comfortable/roomy. The kitchen was awesomely equipped for all of our cooking/ meal prep! The screened back porch was AWESOME, and we spent a lot of time reading and hanging out back there. It was comfortable, even on the 100-degree afternoons!
The beach was only steps away, and the shallow water was perfect for my young son. The water/ beach was a bit murky and grassy the first day d/t windy and turgid conditions but cleared up the rest of our trip.
We went exploring a bit into town on the first chilly day, and all the folks were welcoming and kind. It was nice to have stores ( Walmart and Food Lion) so close to get what we needed but to have the peace and privacy that comes with being out in the countryside.
Nice house. Nice beach.
Breathtaking and Quiet!
We definitely enjoyed our family vacation at this beautiful location! The property is pretty secluded, which we enjoyed! The kids loved the drive down the tree-lined paths leading to the house and the various animals we would see along the way. The house is beautifully decorated and exceptionally clean. We settled in right away! Our family enjoyed breakfast in the screened in porch area. It was also a nice area to be able to watch the kids play in the yard from. The beach area was fun and the kids loved being able to walk out on the sandbars and look for fish/crabs. We liked that the water wasn't too deep in this area and the kids could see the ocean floor. Before our first day was even over, our daughter said, "I want to come back to this place again!" We will definitely plan another stay here in the future!
