Mojo on the Bayou

Marie Laveau conducted her voodoo rituals on the banks of Bayou St. John and the magic is still in the air. An urban oasis in the middle of New Orleans, nestled on the Bayou overlooking City Park, we are the ideal hub for savoring every aspect of this magnificent city while still enjoying a peaceful waterfront retreat overlooking the vast fields and Live Oaks of the City's largest park.

We are a short walk to Jazz Fest, the race track, our famous Cemetaires, the Museum of Art and adjacent Botanical Gardens. This spectacular location is also within easy access to all the attractions of the city. Only 15 minutes by car to the French Quarter or Superdome, you can always opt to catch the street car, which is a short stroll down the bayou to deliver you to your downtown destinations We are close to popular neighborhood restaurants, groceries, wine shops and other amenities of the Esplanade Ridge in Historic Bayou St. John that makes this particular Mid City neighborhood one of the most popular places to live in New Orleans.

Directly across from us, City Park offer an array of outdoor activities including walking/jogging trails, tennis, off street cycling paths, and playgrounds for the kids. So explore the expansive Park, bike along the new system of trails leading all the way to Lake Ponchatrain, or take our canoe out for a romantic sunset paddle. Get ready for your night on the town with a sunset cocktail on our front porch. Or just relax on the balcony in one of our hammocks, and depending on the season, catch site of pelicans, herons, egrets or the friendly ducks feeding along the water’s edge. Featured in Bird Watching Magazine, over 280 species of birds have been spotted in the Park each year. Or get called to the downtown food, music and bar scene. We truly have the best of both worlds.

About John

MIsty and John are both Rolfers and Louisiana Natives with a deep love of the Crescent City.

John purchased this house in 2003

Why John chose New Orleans

We have lived in several neighborhoods in the city before having the good fortune to move onto Bayou St. John and the City Park. We are minutes from all the city's nightlife but in the morning we can have coffee on the balcony and watch the pelicans fish.

What makes this house unique

Relatively quiet streets and gorgeous, peaceful surroundings right on the water,

Mid-City is exactly what it's name implies, the middle of the city. From here you are 15 to 20 minutes from any neighborhood in the city.

Great location, great service

  • 4 of 5

We had a wedding to attend in City Park and were looking for a place where we could walk to the festivities and was more of a local feel. Mojo did not disappoint! We had one minor hiccup upon our arrival but it was addressed quickly. We are so happy it worked out and would recommend Mojo for another trip. House was exactly as pictured on HomeAway and was clean. Thanks for the great stay!

Perfect everything!

  • 5 of 5

We spent 5 days in this house late October and enjoyed every aspect of it. It was clean, very spacious for our family of four, nicely furnished and decorated. We used the kitchen a bit, all the utensils we needed were available and appliances worked well. We loved the balcony above the bayou to relax, read or work. Beds were comfy although mattresses could have been firmer. The owners kindly introduced themselves when we arrived, they live in the other half of the house but were never intrusive. There was a large bottle of water in the fridge which was a kind attention. The welcome book in the living room was helpful and I really appreciated the clear instructions for the TV (it is always a problem for me in rentals!). The location was great, quiet neighborhhod, along bayou where you can jog/stroll/canoe, right across City Park (we were a bit unlucky that most of the park was closed due to preparation of the Voodoo festival but we would have gone every day otherwise), not far from French Quarter (by car), easy access to highways. We would definitely try to book this house again if we come back to New Orleans!

Lovely duplex with multiple decks

  • 5 of 5

We loved this charming duplex with the lovely art work and view of St

John bayou. We walked to city park which was lovely. We thought one of the 2 full baths being downstairs would be an issue but it was not. We loved all the decks front and back. John was ever so helpful, friendly and accomodating. Had a lovely time. Hope he wad able to get dishwasher fixed. Thanks so very much

Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

We were traveling with our 15 year old nephew and he enjoyed the home as much as we did. The house is situated in the quiet neighborhood across the street from a park. French Quarter and downtown was so close. The house is nicely furnished with full kitchen, laundry, and 2 bathrooms. John came to check on us and say hi but otherwise we had a maximum privacy. You can also park your car on the driveway. I fell in love with Louisiana. I will be back soon and I will definitely try to stay at the same home. The floods are very heartbreaking. God bless!!!

Best Part of our Trip!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed on June 9th-12th and were impressed as soon as we got there. It was very clean, well decorated and you can tell there is a lot of pride taken in the up-keep.

We had everything we needed. They left a book of activities, restaurants, etc., which was very helpful.

The couple was very nice when we saw them. We never heard them in the house. They were very respectful of our privacy and we almost forgot they were next door.

It was less than $10 to Uber to Frenchman or Bourban Street, so we felt it was a great location that was far enough to feel relaxed, but close enough to enjoy the activities in that area.

My husband left a bag of his clothes there and John was nice enough to mail it to us! Just a great experience!

If I were to go back to New Orleans, I would only stay here and I would recommend to any of my close friends or family.
