Mojo on the Bayou

Marie Laveau conducted her voodoo rituals on the banks of Bayou St. John and the magic is still in the air. An urban oasis in the middle of New Orleans, nestled on the Bayou overlooking City Park, we are the ideal hub for savoring every aspect of this magnificent city while still enjoying a peaceful waterfront retreat overlooking the vast fields and Live Oaks of the City's largest park.

We are a short walk to Jazz Fest, the race track, our famous Cemetaires, the Museum of Art and adjacent Botanical Gardens. This spectacular location is also within easy access to all the attractions of the city. Only 15 minutes by car to the French Quarter or Superdome, you can always opt to catch the street car, which is a short stroll down the bayou to deliver you to your downtown destinations We are close to popular neighborhood restaurants, groceries, wine shops and other amenities of the Esplanade Ridge in Historic Bayou St. John that makes this particular Mid City neighborhood one of the most popular places to live in New Orleans.

Directly across from us, City Park offer an array of outdoor activities including walking/jogging trails, tennis, off street cycling paths, and playgrounds for the kids. So explore the expansive Park, bike along the new system of trails leading all the way to Lake Ponchatrain, or take our canoe out for a romantic sunset paddle. Get ready for your night on the town with a sunset cocktail on our front porch. Or just relax on the balcony in one of our hammocks, and depending on the season, catch site of pelicans, herons, egrets or the friendly ducks feeding along the water’s edge. Featured in Bird Watching Magazine, over 280 species of birds have been spotted in the Park each year. Or get called to the downtown food, music and bar scene. We truly have the best of both worlds.

About John

MIsty and John are both Rolfers and Louisiana Natives with a deep love of the Crescent City.

John purchased this house in 2003

Why John chose New Orleans

We have lived in several neighborhoods in the city before having the good fortune to move onto Bayou St. John and the City Park. We are minutes from all the city's nightlife but in the morning we can have coffee on the balcony and watch the pelicans fish.

What makes this house unique

Relatively quiet streets and gorgeous, peaceful surroundings right on the water,

Mid-City is exactly what it's name implies, the middle of the city. From here you are 15 to 20 minutes from any neighborhood in the city.

Our NOLA visit was beautiful & memorable for our sister's birthday weekend!

  • 5 of 5

John and Misty were the perfect hosts. The house had old world charm which we loved. They provided a warm loving environment and we're super accommodating to our arrival schedule. The house was well stocked from the kitchen cabinets to the great shower gels (loved it). My sister's birthday weekend was a total success in large part to our hosts. We would definitely recommend this home for anyone's vacation needs. We would LOVE to return again!

Beautiful Spot

Loved the location and the view. We really enjoyed having City Park across the street. We didn't use the canoe, but it looked like fun. The house had everything we needed.

Location, location, location, says it all.

This is at a great location. Close to trolley, City park, and a lot of local eating and shopping you can do by foot. Had a great time, and the house was so comfortable to come home to. Thanks for the great stay.

From start to finish, a delightful stay. John responded quickly & helpfully to our questions. Each morning began serenely on the upstairs screened porch overlooking City Park. A great home base for a fabulous vacation.
