The End of the Road Ranch, located eight miles north of New Castle at the mouth of the East Elk Creek Canyon is at an elevation of 6,500 feet. The old homestead borders the White River National Forest to the north and is close to the Flat Top Wilderness area. The unique location, panoramic canyon views, cold clear waters of the creek, lush green pastures, and plenty of Adirondack chairs to take it all in is the perfect setting for guests seeking to unplug and relax.
The location provides a multitude of opportunities for guests who enjoy the outdoors. Fishing, hiking, cross-country skiing, a plunge into the natural pool at the Sauna Cabin, and gathering in the evening at the outdoor sandstone fire pit are perfect endings for any day. The Main House has a bedroom on the second floor with a king bed, a bathroom with a rain shower, a living room with a twin bed, a sitting room with a twin bed, and a dining room. The kitchen has a gas stove, two under counter refrigerators, and an extensive mix of utensils and cookware. In addition, to the outdoor fire pit, a gas grill is available for cooking and barbecuing. Natural light fills the house along with Kelly’s collection of art, books, photography, and music.
The surrounding cabins are a short walk from the Main House. Tolstoy Cabin has a queen bed and is adjacent to the Main House. The Water House includes a full bed, rain shower, a claw foot tub, bathroom, and a washer and dryer. The Love Shack is a small cabin with a queen bed and is close to both the Main House and the Water House. The Bunk House is complete with a kitchen, a bathroom with a claw-foot tub/shower, three twin beds, and a queen bed. Located next to the creek, The Sauna Cabin has a full-size bed, covered porch, and deck overlooking the creek and stream-fed pool.
To ensure that the Ranch experience is a good fit, guests must speak to Kelly on the phone before booking. Dogs are welcome, a pet fee will be assessed. Rates can be accommodated for large groups and corporate retreats and are subject to change based on the number of occupants. Longer stays are preferred and holiday season rates are to be arranged directly with Kelly.
