About the property

2 Bedrooms 2 Baths Sleeps 6 Downtown Glenwood Springs

Stay in downtown Glenwood Springs just steps from Glenwood's best restaurants, nearly every activity is within easy walking distance. This 1500 sq ft, 2 bedroom unit built in the late 1800's is located upstairs in what was once the Palace Hotel. It has been completely renovated with some of the old things still in tact. Look at the doors; they are the original ones from the 1890's with the room numbers still on them. Doc Holiday is rumored to have stayed here. If you are coming from the Front Range consider taking Amtrak as the train station is only 2 blocks from the Watersweeper Loft. No hassles with Glenwood Canyon.

Going up the stairs you will find yourself on a great, large deck with a stone top table ,firepit and BBQ grill. Go thru the door into the enclosed sun porch and sitting area. Enter the main door and you are in the old hotel hallway. On the left is western bedroom with a queen bed. On the right is the master bedroom with a king bed occupying what was once two hotel rooms. Next is the bath and laundry. There is a Jacuzzi tub and vanity in one room and a shower and vanity in another room. In the front you will find a complete kitchen with everything you could need and the dining room-living room area to complete the wonderful Loft with a great blend of old and new. The unit is registered with the City of Glenwood Springs and is in compliance with the short term rental regulations. Business license #9412.

Great location

  • 4 of 5

Location is indeed the best in Glenwood Springs, in the very downtown, close to the stores and restaurants, walking distance to the hot springs pool, you just need to cross the bridge.

The loft is small, in the very old building, but nice and cozy, reasonably clean.

On the downsides - the parking space in front is very short, we had to go downstairs and pull out several times at request of the owner, who parked her car next to us and could not get out due to lack of space. Same with us - we could hardly get in after 20 attempts (no jokes!) when her car was there.

Also when we arrived on our first day in the evening, the keys from the loft were not in the place we were informed they would be. We called the owner and they came in 30 minutes, brought another set of keys. Nothing extraordinary, things happen, but after 3.5 hr flight and 3 hours driving everyone was tired and did not expect to wait 30 min on the street in front of the building to get the keys.

Owner's Response: Iryna- Thank you for your review and we are glad you enjoyed your stay. We apologize for the key mix up on your arrival. We had a miscommunication with our cleaning person and have worked to rectify that so it doesn't happen again. The parking space is large enough for two vehicles to easily park. Two large trucks might have trouble getting in as the parking is accessed from the alley. We routinely park two vehicles in the space. Scott & Nicole

The house was cozy, and comfortable. Excellent location. Perfect for someone traveling with out a car. The kitchen was well stocked with cookwear. We had trouble with the fire pit. We couldn't keep it lit. Overall a great stay.
