We enjoyed our stay at Gulf Village. The hosts were very responsive with questions we had prior to our arrival and were available with whatever we needed during our stay. The unit was comfortable and provided the items needed to start our vacation. There is a great view of the gulf from the balcony. It was too chilly to use the pool but accessed the beach area and the lagoon dock. We would absolutely stay here again.

We liked the location very much, but there were some issues, mainly on the interior. The refrigerator needed a new filter and the bin for vegetables was broken (very hard to open). We mentioned it to a maintenance men who replaced the door on the drier but apparently he did not feel it was important. Also the pull -out couch was very uncomfortable. We did not use it for sleeping, but sitting was not comfortable. Since we do come to Gulf Shores for an entire month, we expect better. The bed was very comfortable but the rest of the chairs needed cushions, at least.

Location is about the best thing this place has going for it. The condo itself was ok - nothing impressive but it served the purpose of a place to stay when we planned a last minute trip. Pillows were cheap and flat, shower curtains were nasty, ripped, and falling off the hooks, the fridge shelves were broken and/or missing, and there were empty soda bottles trashed under the bed, but nothing that was a deal breaker. But DO TAKE NOTE that although signs are posted for do’s and don’ts, apparently the guidelines that are enforced are different. The common area has signs posted to not leave belongings OVERNIGHT, which we NEVER did. However, we sat our chairs out of our vehicle around 7:15am and went to change for the beach. When we came back shortly later, chairs were gone. We reached out to the host, who then reached out to their property management service and was told we were in violation of their HOA (which we were never told even existed) and all of our chairs had been placed in the dumpster. The host proceeded to tell me I could go look in and around the dumpster and maybe find them. Being told to go dig my belongings out of the dumpster (that were wrongly placed in the dumpster to begin with) is very insulting! Of course the host tried to place blame on the property management but ultimately the host is the middle person for the renter and the property management - I can’t abide by rules that are incorrectly posted and poorly communicated!!! I would not recommend!

We are certainly sad to see this poor review but please understand it has little to do with the condo or vacation and everything to do with the guests beach chairs being thrown away by the on-site security who is employed by the HOA, not us. We only manage this specific condo, unit #214. We have no control over the common areas or public areas. The common areas, such as the walkways, pool area, parking area, etc are handled by the HOA management. All complex HOA Rules are posted. For example, pool rules & hours are posted in the pool area, etc. We received a call from this party stating the chairs were missing. We reached out to the HOA management company who informed us that the guard did in fact see chairs sitting in a common area space under a sign that stated to not leave beach items unattended, or something to that effect. We were told by the HOA management that they disposed of the items and we relayed this information to the guest. We are simply the messenger in this situation. We thought we were doing them a favor by telling them that the items were placed in the dumpster and they are welcome to retrieve the items if they wish. They took this as an insult when all we were doing was trying to help. Our company doesn’t have anyone on-site and we have no authority over the common areas. This is like when a guest leaves tents, coolers, chairs, etc on the beach overnight, only to find the City has removed and trashed them by the next day. In situations like that and similar situations like this, we certainly understand the anger and frustration. Beach items aren’t cheap. We are very sorry, but it is beyond our control. The guest was furious, which we understand, but the anger and retaliation is misdirected. Unfortunately, this led to a very poor review.
