About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-5)

Location is everything and this is the best location in Denver: across the street from Cheesman Park and within walking distance of Cherry Creek, Congress Park, City Park and some of the best pubs and restaurants in Denver.

Built in 1908 and just remodeled, our duplex has exposed brick, all of its original woodwork, hardwood floors, and transom windows. It boasts high ceilings and tall windows with lots of natural light. We are modern where it counts: a 37' TV with cable and DVR; free Wi-Fi with a desk area in the living room. The kitchen features granite countertops and stainless appliances; newly remodeled and charming bath with updated systems throughout.

There is a wonderful covered porch with comfortable seating, perfect for an afternoon glass of wine as it gets great southwest sunshine. The back patio area contains a comfortable seating area, dining area with gas grill. It is the perfect spot for morning coffee, as it is flooded with morning sun.

Both bedrooms are outfitted with brand-new pillowtop queen beds; the sofa in the living room is comfortable enough for one to sleep on as well. Plenty of storage space, including a wine rack and pantry.

The Walkscore is 94 and Denver's weather really lets you take advantage of it. The walking/jogging trails at Cheesman are superb and beautiful. We're six blocks from City Park with its Zoo,Natural History Museum, and lake with boat rentals. Liks Ice Cream is just steps away. For the adult in you, we're within four blocks of the Denver Botanical Gardens, steps away from Wyman's Pub, and within walking distance of the myriad coffee shops, restaurants and shopping on 12th Street and in Cherry Creek.

About Barbara

We live in Norman, Oklahoma, where Dennis is an instructor with the FAA and Barbara owns the retail store Antique Garden. We decided to purchase a home in Denver to make it more convenient to visit our son and his family. Over the last few years we have fallen in love with Denver. We appreciate the climate, and we love to bike and hike. We were looking specifically for a home in an area that would be bicycle and pedestrian-friendly. We found that and a lot more as well: we love great places to eat and shop and we're within biking distance of countless great little local shops and restaurants. This area is so walkable that we often don't rent a car at all while we're here. We have met many great locals and across the street at Cheesman Park. We look forward to our visits and can't wait to get back. We hope you will feel the same way.

Barbara purchased this house in 2011

Why Barbara chose Cheesman Park

Denver is a vibrant and growing city with a young and adventurous population. The weather is (usually) superb with lots of sunshine. It's close to so much: skiing, hiking, snowboarding, biking, etc. But what has been a pleasant surprise is all that Denver has to offer by itself. Whether it's learning to rock climb at the REI flagship store, shopping at great little places like ReVampt and Posh, or eating at superb restaurants: there's always something fun to do. The art museum, the nature museum, the zoo, the public library, Tattered Cover, the Botanic Gardens - all areplaces to visit in Denver. The extensive system of bike lanes is another part of Denver we love.

What makes this house unique

Our favorite routine is to have our morning coffee on the back patio in the sun. We may walk to nearby Dazbog coffee on 12th for some espresso and for their sunny patio, or Zorba's for a great breakfast. If we're car-less, we may rent from OccasionalCar for some errands around town, or we will simply bike to Cherry Creek North for lunch at Piatti. Afternoon is for wine on the front porch and another bike around Cheesman Park. If our grandchildren are with us, we spend time at the playground at Cheesman as well. For dinner, we enjoy grilling and having dinner on the patio when weather permits. We have a great nightly ritual of Liks Ice Cream - my favorite is Jack Daniels Chocolate Chip and Den's is blackberry yogurt.

When in Denver, stay here!!

  • 5 of 5

Barbara's house was phenomenal! My friend and I wanted to take a girls road trip, and found this little gem online in our searches. For my first time visiting Denver, this was the place to be. The location is amazing! Close to downtown and other local attractions. The house itself was wonderful, very cute and quaint, and very quiet! We felt right at home.

The entire experience was great from initial booking to departing. I rate 5 stars and when I visit again, will definitely be staying again if it's open!

PERFECTLY WONDERFUL HOME AWAY FROM HOME

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here alone while visiting my son out in that area. He was 6 blocks away and this was cheaper and so much better, than a hotel which was much further away.I had visitors who wished they could rent this home full time because they loved it so much. It is decorated impeccably and the comfort and hominess is tip top! My son and I did so much every day, and to come back here to crash at night was such a comfort. AC is great, lighting is calming, comfortable bed, great TV, great kitchen and bathroom, etc.Recommend City O City to eat and Jelly! Wild Animal Sanctuary was incredible but wear a hat! Long drive but worth it. Rocky Mountain National Park a must! Also historic towns of Evergreen and Georgetown and the 12,000 feet mountain drive above Georgetown was awesome and breathtaking! Barbara was great and made sure I was all good always. Highly recommend this home and cannot wait to rent again!

Charming house in great localization

  • 5 of 5

We came to Denver for a scientific convention and decided to stay in Barbara's house during this time. Connection to Downton is excellent - you just need to walk few minutes to Colfax Ave and catch the bus which takes you to 15th St. & California, which is almost at the door of Colorado Convention Center :) Getting around the city in Denver is easy easy and relatively cheap (6,75$ for day ticket) public transport drivers are very friendly and helpful, always willing to check some connections or routes for you :)

The house itself - enough to say: you can fall in love with it! Warm, cosy, decorated with taste, equipped with everything that you need during your stay.

Complete kitchen equipment, washing machine, tumbler, iron - everything is there. We unfortunately couldn't enjoy barbecue on patio, because of the rainy weather, but gas grill is there, instructions how to use it as well.

Boardgames and television will entertain you if the weather does not encourage city exploration ;)

The owners provide all the necessary information, all descriptions are accurate, we felt completely 'taken care of', especially with the list of tips about good places to enjoy around the location :)

Whenever I get a chance to visit Denver again, I will definitely choose Barbara's house :)

Great location and great house!

  • 5 of 5

My family of three stayed at this little two bedroom house on our first trip to Denver. We always prefer to stay in houses/condos/apartments and skip hotels whenever possible. We have booked many times through VRBO and have had great luck. This time was no different.

The location of this house is amazing. You are right in the middle of the city but it feels like you are tucked away in a cute little neighborhood. We were out and about every day seeing new things and were able to easily make our way to all of our different activities. We spent some time walking the area as well - finding good pizza, ice cream and a park to run it all of at!!

The amenities in the house are just as stated. The Wi-Fi works well, kitchen is well stocked, bedrooms are comfortable and have adequate storage. We cooked many meals in the house and wanted for nothing. We were able to do several loads of laundry (thanks to the 5 year old!) with no problems.

We would not hesitate to recommend this place to friends and family and we would stay here again if we returned to Denver. Make sure to check out voodoo donuts not too far from the house as well as three guys pies for pizza! Also - walk through Cheeseman park - it's absolutely gorgeous!!

Perfect Denver getaway

  • 5 of 5

This home is clean, beautifully decorated, very comfortable and inviting. The linens and towels were soft as can be, and the newer model kitchen was perfect for whipping up meals. The coffee pot was broken on our arrival, but the owners, Barbara and Dennis, had one sent over right away. They were very accommodating, even when our stay was unexpectedly cut short. They graciously refunded our unused nights. The location is also incredible with Cheesman Park just a few blocks away, easy access to public transportation that takes you downtown in minutes, and loads of restaurants and shops on nearby Colfax Ave. I would definitely recommend this home for your stay in Denver!

Map

Car: not necessary

Close to 3 major parks: Cheesman, Congress, City Park and Cherry Creek Trail. Cheesman Park has wonderful jogging/walking trails and a children's playground. City Park is home to the Denver Zoo, and the Colorado Museum of Natural History. Both are must-see attractions. Congress Park has a good swimming pool owned and managed by Denver. But best of all we are 3 blocks from the Denver Botanic Gardens, our favorite place in Denver. We are also one mile from Cherry Creek shopping area, full of wonderful shops and restaurants.
