Guestbook comments from the owner

just wanted to say we had a great time in Florida. We really enjoyed the house. My youngest daughter Jade wanted to buy the house and stay! Emerald Island Resort was very nice and I definitely would stay there again. My sister and family also rented a house so we were about a half a mile apart. It worked out great.

Good Communication but House was run down

  • 2 of 5

First I will say the communication with the owner was really good. Overall the house was adequate. However, the house was pretty run down especially compared to the pictures. The house was not as clean as I would have liked (there was food stuck to the dishes in the cabinets), the bedding was not high quality at all and the sheets didn't really fit the bed in the master bedroom and the comforter had a nasty spot on it (we just took it off the bed and didn't use it). The pool was not cleaned on schedule and the screen house around the pool was pushed in and had holes which let stuff from the trees get in the pool. There was trash all around the outside of the back yard which did not get picked up the entire time we were there (10 days). The trash was overflowing from both barrels when we arrived (left by the last renter but it still should have been taken care of). The towels still had the previous visitors makeup all over them and we had to go out and buy bleach and wash all the towels over again. The furniture was not clean (stains all over the couches and just dirty all around) which did not make it comfortable to relax when we returned from the parks. I did contact the owner and the property manager right away (and quite a few times over our stay) and to give the owner credit he was prompt in getting back to me and some of the issues were addressed. I took pictures of all of the issues because I didn't want to seem like an overly picky guest (we have rented homes for our vacations quite a few times so we have had experience in this type of rental home market).

My son left a very important item in the house and the owner and property manager got the item shipped back to us so I was very appreciative and thankful for that!

I think that the owner needs to be more proactive in making sure that the upkeep to the property is taken care of in a more professional manner. The location is really good, close enough to everything but away from the hectic pace of hotels on the main strips.

Owner's Response: Dear Guest: Thank you for your feedback. For most of things you mentioned, i have explained over our previous email and communication. 1. Pool is cleaned weekly on schedule. Raccoons went into the garbage and took garbage(from neighbors) around the house and eat on top of screen. There were a few things falling into pool from trees. Guest can use net to scoop up. Raccoon were also around breaking out the screens. The screen hole was fixed immediately after getting report. We have been reporting this to community and they do not help with raccoon issue. We also asked community to cut the tree branches over the house. 2. Previous guest left in the middle of week which missed the garbage collection day(Mondays). Emerald Island have a trash compactor located at the entrance of the subdivision for guest to dump by themselves. Local management company can not help with it due to community rules because community does not provide local manager pass to access capacitor. The community club even disable the guest pass if the garbage can not fill out in bin and outside of bin. So if you can not wait to garbage collection day, then you have to dump it by yourself. 3. furniture are cleaned.

The stay was good. The house was very spacious. We had at one point in our stay up to 14 people, but the sleeper sofas were not in good condition and the house was not clean. There was dirt and dust under beds, on furniture, tubs, and the hot tub jets were not working properly. Had to have pool company come out twice. House was supposed to have a grill and when we asked at the clubhouse, we ended-up having to rent one. Overall experience was good, just need to have these details ironed-out for future renters.

Owner's Response: Dear Guest: Thank you for info. The house is cleaned after each guest departure. We also have deep cleaning routinely which cover cleaning the dirts under the beds. Spa jet was fixed during guest stay. As mentioned in the website, There is no in-house BBQ. BBQ is available for rent. I also include those info in the entry document. Thank you. Looking forward to your next stay. Yan

Very Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We traveled with a group of 8- 4 adults and 4 kids. The neighborhood and the house was beautiful and quiet. The kitchen was fully stocked so we didn't need to purchase any additional utensils. The beds in the masters were comfortable but the kids didn't think the bunk beds were. The house was big enough so that everyone had enough space to move around in and not feel cluttered as if we were in a hotel. The layout is also perfect for entertaining since the kitchen is behind the dining and living room area. The neighborhood is in close proximity to Disney and about 15-20 minutes away from a Walmart and Target. Publix was closer but it's fairly expensive. The house was thin on towels and wash clothes so bring your own. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and didn't want to leave. I'd rent again if I'm back in Orlando with a big group.

We arrived and the check in process was simple. We found our rental, and we're very satisfied with it! The house was close to everything you need, to include many restaurants and shopping. Pool and hot tub were wonderful...we paid extra for heating. The payment was very reasonable. The house for what we paid was exceptional. We truly enjoyed our stay and would use it again. Yan was great and answered our questions quickly. Only reason this gets 4 stars is because there are a lot of little rules to follow...garbage out twice a week, recycling, pool rules, etc. These were not difficult to follow, but when you get there and read the welcome pack it is a bit overwhelming at first. Seems like these would be common with the rentals in general. Would not keep me from staying again.

Overall, this was a wonderful place to stay. The fact that it's a gated community is reassuring. The check in process was very simple and staff was friendly. We did not get a chance to check out the resort property, but it did look nice at a quick glance...many amenities. We arrived at our house, and were immediately impressed. The home is comfortable and very nice. There are minor aesthetic issues, but does not take away from the property. The pool and spa were very nice. We paid extra for pool heating and it was worth it. This was a family trip, and we ended up not being at the property for a ton of down time, but we enjoyed every bit of it while we were there. Yan, the homeowner, was very easy to work with and ask questions of. I would absolutely go back, and my parents are even thinking of staying again next year.

Emerald Island Resort is a very nice community.

  • 4 of 5

The neighborhood was very beautiful. We did have a few minor problems with the property we rented. The bulbs in the kitchen needed to be changed, because the lighting was very dim. We had to move lamps into the kitchen to provide enough light. We were unable to use the game room due to the extreme heat. There was an air conditioner unit in the garage, but it was not working. The air hockey table was missing the puck. We found ants going from the sliding glass doors to under the rug. We sprayed them at the beginning of the week and did not see them anymore. Since the air conditioner in the house could not be turned lower than 73, it was very hot in the bedrooms at night.

We did, however, really enjoy the pool. We also liked the proximity of the property to the theme parks, grocery stores, and restaurants.
