About Patty Reilly-Murphy

We discovered Door County in the 1980s. Every summer we made sure to spend at least one week together on the shores of Green Bay. It was our dream to own a home here, and in 2002, while on a bike ride through Birch Lane, we found this home. We have experienced many milestones here, including the wedding of our oldest son, and we look forward to celebrating many more as our family grows.

Patty Reilly-Murphy purchased this cabin in 2002

Why Patty Reilly-Murphy chose Door County

Door County is our favorite place in the world, and being in Egg Harbor affords us easy access to the entire Peninsula. The natural beauty and peaceful setting of Birch Lane cannot be beat; we are tucked away in the woods but just minutes from town. Sturgeon Bay is just 12 miles south of us, and we appreciate the convenience of being close to 'the city'--especially in the off season.

What makes this cabin unique

From the moment you enter the cabin, you will feel welcome & at home. It is beautifully appointed, yet very family friendly. It's the perfect place for a family reunion, but it's also the ideal place if you're seeking to relax in solitude. No matter how you choose to spend your time here, it is certain to be memorable.

Perfect family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Murphy's in Egg Harbor in July. What a wonderful time! Beautiful log home with everything we needed and then some. Great central location in Door County. We enjoyed our family wedding in Sturgeon Bay. Had a great time bicycling on Washington Island, golf, nearby beaches etc. Perfect for our family of 8 ranging from ages 3-63! Thank you for sharing your home! Sincerely, Michaelyn Hyde

AMAZING!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I came here in October for a quiet little getaway. And man did we love it! We loved it so much that my husband wanted to call the cabin owners and ask if it's for sale! HAHA! We LOVED our experience. Also it doesn't hurt that thanks to El Nino we got lucky and hit Door County RIGHT AT PEAK. Everyone in Door County told us how lucky we were because technically we were about 2 weeks late for typical peak.

The cabin itself is absolutely wonderful. I would say it is PERFECT for a couple or a family of 4-6. The master bedroom is the top "loft" of the cabin. Then on the main floor are 2 more bedrooms. And then in the basement is a room with I think 2 twin beds- great for kids.

The photos look great but I honestly think it's even better in person. The cabin was SO clean. I'm a germ-a-phobe in general and I hate staying in hotels. No matter how fancy the hotel it always feels icky to me. This cabin felt like HOME.

We enjoyed the outdoor fire pit every single night. It was so perfect in the fall as it's situated pretty far back on the property right under all the big beautiful trees that the cabin backs up to.

We also built a fire in the fireplace every night. The ONLY hiccup is the indoor fireplace is a little quirky and the first time we tried to use it the whole cabin filled with smoke. Turns out there is a light switch on the wall that operates some kind of fan in the chimney that must be turned on unless you want to inhale smoke. I wish they had left some fireplace instructions for us. That's really the only hiccup we had.

The cabin is warm and cozy and the property is perfect. The cabin is on a fairly large lot and backs up to wooded land. My husband and I even loved the road that leads up to the cabin as it's a TRUE country road. We are even talking about returning in the winter to just cozy up inside and enjoy the fire place and watch the snow fall outside. Maybe do a little snow shoeing.

Being in this cabin we felt like we were on a mountain top out in Colorado! And to return with the snow falling would REALLY feel special. We LOVED our stay and LOVED the cabin and would 1,000% return! GORGEOUS, SPECIAL CABIN!

Owner's Response: You just made my day! It's so nice to learn that others enjoy the cabin as much as we do. Thank you for sharing your experience for others to see. And, please do come back in the winter. We just returned from spending a beautiful week there celebrating the holidays with our family. The snow was gorgeous--we snow-shoed, went for long walks, and had fires going all day long. Very cozy!

Comfortable and quiet

  • 4 of 5

There were seven of us in all, four adults and three kids. We really enjoyed the home. The peaceful setting was really enjoyable. The kids had plenty of room to play and ride their bikes. The road coming into the neighborhood is quiet with just minimal traffic and we never really had to be concerned about where the kids were or what they were doing. The neighbors were a pleasure to visit with too on a walk up the road one afternoon.

We found the home to be well stocked with dishes and cookware as well as many common spices. There was both a drip coffee pot and a Keurig for those who drink coffee. The deck was really a great place to start the day. Early each morning we were visited by several hummingbirds and the sounds of a peaceful sunrise. The woods around the house really made it feel private as we could barely see the houses near to us. We enjoyed a fire one night roasting marshmallows and hotdogs telling ghost stories laughing and having a great time. The water pressure seemed to fluctuate a some but never caused any problems. We were thankful for the washer and dryer which we used a lot. There were plenty of linens too. We didn't try the TV but the wifi worked well, many times all of us were on our mobile devices at the same time.

The house is convenient to Egg Harbor, we were able to ride our bikes there and back easily. Fish Creek was not much farther up the road then on to Ephraim and Sister Bay. All in all, the drive was always worth it. The park on the water between the house and Egg Harbor was a great place to catch the setting sun as well as the marina at Egg Harbor.

Living in a large city keeps us moving at a fast pace and coming here caused us to really slow down and relax and enjoy what God and nature had to offer. By the end of the week we were not looking forward to heading home. Restaurants were plentiful and friendly. There were great burgers to be eaten at Wilsons in Ephraim and Penninsula Park was a great place for mountain bike riding. We didn't care much for the trip to Washington Island however although the kids loved the ferry ride.

If you are still trying to decide where to stay, seriously consider staying here, you'll be satisfied and have an enjoyable time, and yes do bring mosquito spray.

Very nice

  • 5 of 5

The property was fabulous. Everything was in such nice order and it was a pleasure to stay here. The owner was very welcoming and when we found the sink was broken upon arrival, he came and fixed it right away. The area is great for a family vacation, just be sure to bring bug spray.

Beautiful Log Cabin Nested in the Woods of Door County

  • 5 of 5

Weekend ice fishing retreat and perfect end to the day home with perfect amenities and floor to ceiling pass through wood burning fireplace. Comfortable beds and clean property. I would definitely stay here again. One caution is the driveway was very icy (no fault of owner) and does not have a turn around up by the garage. We had a 7x12 trailer and got stuck adding to the adventure of the weekend. The roads are also narrow in and out of the property.
