It’s a gem in the Ouray area, very peaceful, location is awesome for taking in Telluride, Ridgeway, Ouray, Gunnison Black Canyon, Million Dollar Highway, Silverton and Durango. Definitely a must stay.

Incredible accommodations. We loved the cabin and it was extremely private from other houses and cozy. If you’re booking with a large crowd, be aware that there’s not a lot of privacy inside the cabin and sound carries. However, the experience was incredible and the star-gazing on the patio was awesome.

Family Trip to Ridgway

Had a wonderful time in this cabin with exceptional views to wake up to each morning and enjoy each evening. Easy access to Ouray, Ridgway, and only an hour from Telluride or Montrose/Black Canyon of the Gunnison, would gladly stay here again.

Beautiful cabin that feels like a Swiss chalet. Jaw-dropping views & private location. Clean cabin & comfortable beds. Close to Ouray & the Million Dollar Hwy. Spectacular!

The views where great as advertised, we were greeted by a beautiful rainbow when we arrived. The cabin is just pictures and the humming birds where treat to watch. We would definitely recommend the cabin, you will not disappointed.

Mountain Hiking Retreat

This beautiful cabin was the perfect base camp for our hiking adventures in the San Juan mountains. An easy day trip to Telluride, the Million Dollar Highway, and Ouray. We loved eating our dinner on the porch and watching the hummingbirds after long days of hiking. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was well-stocked, and the mountain views were beautiful.

Great overall

Overall, great stay! The wraparound porch was a big winner for me and those silly hummingbirds :-). The only issue we had was the cleaning service was there when we arrived and the towels were still musty so we needed to rewash them. Communication with the owner was great.

Stunning views

The cabin was in the perfect location for us to take day trips and come back to a nice relaxing view. Watching the hummingbirds was amazing! The downstairs bed was the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in. The only complaint comes from my boyfriend and that is the shower is small for a tall guy. Other than that we loved our stay at bear claw cabin.

Family Vacation

This was our family vacation and first time in Ouray! The cabin was great with views vast and beautiful! It was easy to access and Kim was awesome and detailed. Great communication back and forth. The hike around perimeter trail was great. We brought our ATV's and headed out to Yankee boy basin. The ride was peaceful and scenery was gorgeous. We hit the hot springs for a few hours and relaxed. We enjoyed the cabin with morning coffee, views and the hummingbirds. We managed to get iver to Ridgway reservoir, caught some fish and the girls were able to cool off in it as well. We will be going back and hopefully rent the the cabin again if it's not booked!

Absolutey Perfect Cabin Getaway!

This cabin is perfect! The pictures represent it perfectly but you cannot capture the views and feeling of being there in person. Everything in the cabin is spotless and new. It's decorated exactly like a cabin on the mountainside should be. So fun to see all the small touches that went into the place. Everything anyone could need is provided, super comfortable beds, plenty of space. It was such an honor to be your first guests. We primarily used the flat screen TV for music and news but there is Direct TV, DVDs/player, and excellent WiFi, good phone reception too (Verizon for us). Plenty of books and games, also new! My girls (11/14) enjoyed the games, and I appreciated the book with some history of the area. The views are just amazing -- from the deck with the picnic bench you can look over to the snow capped peaks above Ouray. When we arrived the deer came to check us out, there are hummingbirds hanging around the pole. Quite other than the sound of the birds! It was a cool weekend but we were plenty warm and only used the baseboard heaters a bit for my 90 year old dad. He used the small room and could have his own heat as needed. We ate at the cabin but also enjoyed a few of the wonderful restaurants, particularly Kate's Place in Ridgeway for breakfast and the Outlaw for my dad's 90th birthday dinner (they let him wear John Wayne's hat!). We visited the waterfalls and spent time in the Ouray Hot Spring Pool. We were going to take the scenic drive to Silverton but the road was closed so we drove to Telluride and rode the free gondola, beautiful town with views, hikes, etc. In spite of the holiday weekend nothing was too crowded. Since we had my elderly father we did not do a lot of extreme things but there is so much more you can do in the area. I'd love to visit in winter for skiing , icepark etc. It's a great location. Kim and Debbie were really quick to respond to our inquiry and make sure we had everything we needed. We only had to contact them once and they picked up right away. I hope that you have many more visitors and that they will appreciate and treat your cabin as a special place. We sure did and hope we can return again! Thank you so much for your hospitality! Beautiful beyond word's!

The communication wit MR. Dobson was excellent throughout our whole experience. Their cabin was spotless! It had everything we needed for our 6 night stay. Very comfortable, and decorated nicely( love the logs throughout the cabin). Very private and quiet. Breathtaking views from within the cabin, as well as outside, especially on the deck that overhangs!! This cabin would be exactly what we're looking for, if we we're buying!! Thanks Dobsons, for a memorable stay. 😀

Inspiring and comfortable log cabin

Amazing views both from inside the cabin and from the deck. There main room with cathedral ceilings is also a terrific space. The cabin was cozy during a surprise winter snow storm. One feature to keep in mind is that every sound can be heard everywhere in the cabin. Light sleepers take note.

2020 Alpine Loop

We were looking for easy access to the Alpine Loop and Imogene Pass for off-roading and this location was perfect. 10 mins to Ouray made it easy when we wanted to eat out.

We have lived in central Illinois our entire lives. We fell in love with the breath taking beauty of Ouray and the surrounding area. The people there are warm and friendly and we felt at home from the very beginning of our home ownership.

This property was exactly what we were looking for and feel very lucky that we were able to find and purchase it. It is an incredibly well built log home with beauty inside and out. The views are spectacular and you feel you are in the clouds. Well actually sometimes you are as the cabin sits at over 8000 feet of elevation. The cabin is one mile up on the side of a mountain and you have beautiful views of the sunrise. The deck is huge and surrounds the cabin on 3 sides. The deck has ample lighting for night time gatherings and on clear nights star gazing can be amazing. The road to the cabin is well maintained. The cabin has good water source that is fine for consumption. The interior is warm and rich with the wood grain of logs on every wall and ceiling. New furniture including couch, love seat, recliner, beds, mattresses and bedspreads add to the interior beauty and warmth. Wonderful cool mountain breezes flow through the cabin. It a wonderful place to spend your vacation in the Ouray area and we know you will be very happy with your choice of staying at Bear Claw Cabin.
