About Mike Lambert
I grew up spending summers on Torch Lake around the corner from Clam Lake. My family moved fulltime to Petoskey in 1985. I have always loved the chain-of-lakes for the natural beauty and recreational opportunities.
Mike Lambert purchased this Cabin in 1988
Why Mike Lambert chose Forest Home
The cabin's privacy and location on Clam Lake made it an opportunity too good to pass up. I intend to pass on the property to my children.
What makes this Cabin unique
The cottage was built in the 1950s by a company known for building cottages with character in the area. I was drawn by the wood paneling, screened porch and covered boat slip.

We had made reservations in S Carolina but Hurricane Irma decided to change our plans...We found this cozy cabin last minute and it worked out perfectly for us. There were six of us and we stayed Sept 11 - 14th. The weather was perfect. Best they had all Summer, we were told. The cabin was clean and comfortable for our needs. Very cool nautical decor. We were there to fish and relax. We had a fire a couple of nights and saw several falling stars. The sky was beautiful with no light pollution.
The location on Clam Lake was perfect as the owner (Mike) also had a pontoon boat that we were able to rent for our stay. Thank you so much Mike! We traveled down to Bellaire Lake thru the Grass River Waterway, which was an amazing experience. We also boated up to Torch Lake as well. The clear water was gorgeous! Our cousin caught a really nice Pike off of the dock at the cabin and we caught several small perch from Clam and Bellaire. Heck, it was September and 80 degrees, so not quite the perfect fishing weather.
While we were there I was reading about Petoskey Stones, so we were on a mission to find some. Stopped at a beach on Torch and also drove up to Barnes Park and spent some time looking for them there on Grand Traverse Bay. We did find a few, I think...The water up there was beautiful, clear, and the beach was like you were at the ocean.
Mike was a very gracious and kind host. We would gladly return and had a wonderful time! Thank you for your kindness and the special parting gift.
We had an amazing time! Mike was so fantastic and a gracious host. The cabin was great and we loved the covered dock.
Great little cottage!!
This cottage was so cute! All the knotty pine, screened in porch, covered boat slip! Just what we wanted! Had a great time, wish the weather would of been better but still a great time had by all!! Even the dog had a great time in the water and in the boat. Thanks for sharing your cottage Mike.
We had a great time. Would recommend this place for a relaxing and fun time. Mike is a great host and the house was perfect for 4 adults and 2 dogs
25th Year on Clam Lake
Another great stay on Clam Lake! Good fishing, nice weather shared with my family, what more could I ask for. The cabin provides the room for all to enjoy their stay. Covered docks for both boats with electricity to recharge your batteries. The natural beauty of Torch & Bellaire Lakes and the Grass River.
My family and I stayed three weeks at this cottage this July and found the place to be clean and plan to return next year. The owner did inform us that he may be working in his boathouse , and we didn't have a problem with that.
The property is in a scenic area on a chain-of-lakes 67 miles long. Clam Lake runs into Torch Lake which National Geographic named the 3rd most beautiful lake in the world! Clam Lake also runs into the Grass River Nature Preserve - a beautiful preserve including the river and a large protected section of land which fronts on the river and has great walking trails! The preserve has an education center and offers terrific nature programs for all ages. It is handicap accessible. The area is full of old growth trees which give you a sense of peace and tranquility. The trees are beautiful all year but in each season the landscape changes into fall colors, winter snow, spring wildflowers, and summer shade. The cabin's location is also surprisingly near sensational golf and ski resorts, gambling casinos with headliner entertainment, the small towns of Bellaire and Alden, the nearby cities of Traverse, Charlevoix, Petoskey, Harbor Springs. There are shops filled with one-of-a-kind pieces and ready for you from the budget shopper on up! Dining in the area is terrific: lots of great restaurants from ice cream parlors to 4 star gourmet cuisine. Every visitor will be very happy they came. Something wonderful for the young and not so young, casual or intense fitness, and land-lubber or water enthusiast. Families return year after year, generation after generation to this rare and beautiful area. Kayaks and pontoon boat available. Inquire about rates for pontoon boat.
