Sitting at an elevation of 3,200 feet and overlooking Cold Mountain, this 5,000 square foot designer decorated mountain lodge serves as the central point for all the guests at East Fork Ranch. The home includes five bedrooms including two master suites, two spacious guest rooms and one “bunk” room (perfect for kids).
The Lodge includes a huge, open kitchen with top-of-the-line appliances, a Franklin stove surrounded by river rock, and a hand built, rustic wooden dinning table for breaking bread with family and friends. The Great Room is adorned with comfortable designer furnishings and dominated by an impressive stone hearth and fireplace.
The gathering front porch of the Lodge is well equipped with comfortable rocking chairs and an all-encompassing view of the property. On the level below the porch resides a sitting area, fire pit and stone barbecue for the preparation of a multitude of outdoor culinary delights. And on starry, starry nights, the kids will love catching fire flies in Mason jars or roasting marshmallow's and sitting around the campfire watching the flames dance in the cool, mountain breezes.
The Lodge at East Fork Ranch is one of two different properties available to rent. Our other property, The Graves Cabin (Property 414732) is also located just next door and can sleep 8. Each can be rented out on an individual basis, however if you would like to reserve both properties for a corporate retreat or large family gathering please contact us and we will work with you to accommodate your plans.
Western North Carolina is a paradise in so many ways. So much to do – so little time! Just look around and take in all the mountain wonders that abound here in the shadow of Cold Mountain and the Pisgah National Forest. This is truly God’s country in so many respects. The abundant wildlife, the rolling topography of the land, the rushing streams and rivers – all beckon those weary with the demands of city life – to sit still and take in a deep breath of clean, cool mountain air.
It is here, a midst the mountain laurel, Hemlock and Maple, here along the wooded walking trails, here at the side of a placid fishing pond or a rushing river, here under the evening stars and within the sounds of a crackling fire that you and your closest friends and family will remember, reflect and resolve that while you may travel back home, you will never truly leave this place.

East Fork Ranch was without a doubt the most perfect location for us to celebrate our 10th anniversary. Truly the pictures do not do the property justice. As one of our friends said when they arrived and walked around the main lodge house and Graves Cabin - "Wow, it looks like Ralph Lauren lives here!" The owners have spared no expense in turning this early 1900's cabin(the current great room) into an exquisite mountain home suitable for large gatherings. Even as big as the house is, it has a very elegant rustic hominess about it. We had 12 people staying in the main house and another 6 folks in the Graves Cabin. The River House was also available over the dates of our event so another 2 couples rented that house as well. In total we had 22 people staying on the Ranch property and the main house was great for giving everyone a place to gather. On the day of our anniversary celebration, we had a total of 50 people in attendance and not once did we ever feel crowded with the large great room, the keeping room in the kitchen, the dining table that seats 12 for games/cards/dining, seating for 6-8 more at the kitchen bar area and all the beautiful porches and the fire pit seating area. Such a wonderful house for a celebration with family and friends that we will never forget! My deepest appreciation to Elizabeth for her kindness and especially to Neda, the on site property manager who is so kind and helpful!!! I highly recommend you gather up your family and/or friends and stay at East Fork Ranch as soon as possible :-)
PS: If you want to have any meals catered while at East Fork Ranch be sure and give Josh Monroe/Owner, Chef at The Chef's Table on Church Street in Waynesville a call. He is familiar with the kitchen at East Fork Ranch and the food he prepares is out of this world! Great Blue Grass Music was provided by Whitewater Bluegrass Company (thanks Ted and Gang!) and we learned how to clog with J. Creek Cloggers (thanks Kim for bringing your awesome family to celebrate with us!)
First, the pictures do not do this place justice. It is beyond perfect. We had a large family gathering for Christmas week - four couples and a gaggle of children. There are two separate sitting rooms, each large enough to accommodate the entire party. The dining / keeping/ TV/ kitchen area are where most of the time inside was spent. Board games and card games at the dining table. College football on the TV. Fire in the Franklin Stove. The smell of something always cooking. Or a fire in the oversized fireplace in the sitting room with some playing billiards with others throwing darts while reading and talking with family.
Second, the outdoor activities were fun and plenty. Taking the kids fishing at the ponds, visiting the horse, walking the barn/stable, sitting by the fire in the fire pit, cooking trout on the well equipped outdoor kitchen, hiking the trails, or walking the stream provided plenty of activities to keep everyone occupied. The weather was good most of the stay, so all the outdoor activities were possible.
The property is beautiful. It is well maintained and the the house is stocked. Linens, dishes, appliances, etc. are all provided. There was plenty of firewood for the fire pit and two fire places.
The bedrooms and bathrooms were more than adequate for our group. We love going to the NC mountains. We rarely get to all go together at the same time. This was perfect and I would highly recommend staying!
WE HAVE A SMALL GROUP THAT TRAVELS TO NORTH CAROLINA EACH YEAR FOR THE APPLE FESTIVAL PERIOD AND THIS IS OUR SECOND TIME AT EAST FORK RANCH. EVERYONE LOVED THE LODGE TWO YEARS AGO AND WANTED TO RETURN THIS YEAR. WE ENJOYED THIS STAY JUST AS MUCH OR MORE THAN OUR LAST TIME. ARRANGING THE RENTAL WAS EASY AND THE CHECK IN WITH NITA WAS A PLEASURE. SHE IS A SWEET PERSON AND AIMS TO MAKE OUR STAY ENJOYABLE. THE LODGE WAS VERY CLEAN AND READY FOR OUR ARRIVAL. OUR STAY INCLUDED COOKING AT THE LODGE AND EATING OUT AND I MUST SAY, WE WERE READY TO BRING THAT KITCHEN BACK HOME WITH US. IT RIVALS ANY COMMERCIAL KITCHEN. THE FIRST AFTERNOON WAS SPENT ON THE PORCH OVERLOOKING THE LAKES AND PASTURES WITH THE HORSES. THE FIVE BEDROOMS ARE LARGE AND VERY COMFORTABLE. EVEN THOUGH WE DID VENTURE OUT TO WAYNESVILLE AND MAGGIE VALLEY, WE WERE JUST AS PLEASED TO STAY AT THE LODGE AND ENJOY THE FACILITIES THERE. EVEN CATCHING A FEW MOUNTAIN TROUT IN THE LAKE. OUR ENTIRE TIME AT THE LODGE WAS RELAXING AND THE VIEW IS JUST FANTASTIC.
FOR SURE, OUR GROUP WILL RETURN TO THE LODGE AT EAST FORK RANCH.
My family and I had a wonderful time relaxing in the NC mountains! East Fork Ranch is a beautiful home and our children had the best time running all over the property.
The property was absolutely gorgeous! We had a large group with a few small children and there was room for everyone. We loved having space to sit by the fire and read or go out on the spacious porch to chat. Would have liked to have the option to rent for 3 days, as it was quite expensive.
Our annual family summer gatherings bring 11 very different people together, and it can be a challenge finding just the right property, especially when booking a new area for the first time. This was my year to find "The House," and after painfully scouring the vacation rental websites for hours (can I get a witness???) for something that would satisfy all 11 budgets and tastes, it was a favorable East Fork Ranch (EFR) verdict. As we drove into the Cruso/Canton area from Charlotte, under the mist of the beautiful smoky mountains, my anxiety gradually dissipated with each lush, green mile. It is truly a beautiful place! Yet as we approached the Pigeon River bridge and East Fork Ranch sign, I admit I had one eye closed and squinted warily through the other down the winding drive. I was still slightly nervous both about the property and the area, as we weren't very familiar with this part of NC. Much to my relief, the greeting of wide, green pastures and rustic barns, rushing creeks and ponds full of hungry fish made everyone giddy! So, the only thing to either seal the deal or nail the coffin was The House. Suffice it to say, we couldn't have been happier with our choice. From the outside deck (which we spent most of our time on), to the huge stone fireplace in the living room (and even in late May was well-used), we had plenty of room to spread out or hang out. And the four kids LOVED the room with the bunk beds! It proved the perfect bunker for dark, downtime watching movies together during the rainy spells - speaking of rain, even it seemed prettier in this setting. The kitchen had everything we could have needed, and then some. We have never been to a vacation rental that had a proper egg poacher! The rest of the home was carefully thought out, and we appreciated the attention to detail. Decor was tasteful, and activities abundant - the pool table and dartboard saw a lot of action! Whether walking out the back door to a vigorous hike or out the front to the fire pit and fishing by the pond, there was something for everyone. Asheville is close enough to visit once, and Waynesville is even closer and charming enough to visit several times. We were all pleasantly surprised by the neighboring towns and the abundance of interesting and cool things to do - don't miss white water rafting on the French Broad or breakfast at The Buttered Biscuit. Thank you to Neda for always being available for questions. We will definitely be back!
Guests will also have the use of the adjacent Cold Mountain property which is approximately 200 acres. Guests can enjoy fishing in a stocked trout pond or try fly fishing in the clear 1.5 miles of the East Fork of the Pigeon River that runs through the property. East Fork Ranch is 11 miles to Waynesville, 30 miles to Asheville, and 6 miles to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Hiking trails and fire pit are both onsite. Golf is located next door at beautiful Springdale Country Club.
