This was a very unique and bespoke property. We appreciated the earthen home and all of the thoughtful touches. We enjoyed the getaway for our family and greatly appreciated that our dog was welcome! Thomas was a gracious and welcoming host that respects the privacy of guests and is a pleasure to talk with. The fire pit was removed due to the extreme drought and winds present. We enjoyed using the wood stove inside! This is a lovely, eccentric property in which you can have a unique experience and enjoy tranquility, dark skies and solitude!

I love that there was an actual stove. Very quiet and private . Loved the interior and the art. Very cozy and comfortable.
We were only here for a short time and wish we could’ve stayed longer! It was a cozy space with all the amenities described. My favorite part was stepping outside in the middle of the night to see the brilliant stars. The homemade paintings in the space were a great touch :)
Sean and Thomas were terrific hosts. The location truly has to be experienced to understand how special it is. A jaunt to the sand dunes, 3 different hot springs, and the UFO watchtower and only a quick drive to Crestone makes it very well situated. We were able to crate our dog, Maggie, near a partially shaded window where she slept and watched birds all day. If you love the sky, you'll absolutely fall in love with this place. Highly recommend.

You humbled us with your kind words and review. We aspire to provide unique and quintessentially Colorado short-term stays. We're so glad that Terra Cottage resonated with you and helped you explore the southern reaches of the state. Dunes, hot springs, UFOs and an earthship stay, sounds like a great trip! Glad Maggie dug it too!
Clean, comfortable space with wonderful vibes in a peaceful and private location. The views are absolutely incredible and made the stay even more special. The property is exactly as described — no surprises, just a perfect match to the listing. It was well worth the 45-minute (give or take) drive to both the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Zapata Falls. The little town of Crestone is funky in the best way and had everything we needed for our stay.We also enjoyed meeting the owner’s father, who lives on the property in his own private place. He’s a charming, interesting fellow who added to the experience without ever intruding. We loved watching the mule deer that visited regularly, and the magpies were fun to see as well. This property made it so easy to relax and unplug — exactly what we were hoping for. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this place to anyone considering it.
It's a rare treat to be on acres of land and open space such that surrounds this home. More than anything, the house has a peaceful, welcoming feel. Not too fancy schmancy, but not run down. It was very clean, which is often a wild card with short rentals. I enjoyed the unimpeded views of the Sangre de Cristos as well as the range on the other side of the valley. Crestone has not one but two grocery stores, and a hardware store! I guess my only warning is: Bring your own honey. Of the spices and staples the hosts provide at this house, I did not find sugar or honey.
