Live with the eagles
Classic “modern cabin” on yellow lake
This is a charming classic 1950’s cabin with the modern conveniences added. The single bathroom with toilet, sink & shower is shared by the two bedrooms, each with double bed. A hide-a-bed couch in the living room will accommodate one adult or two youngsters. Kitchen has refrigerator, stove & microwave.
Large wooded lot with heavily wooded buffer zone on both sides of property. You won’t see or hear the neighbors unless you make the effort to visit them.
Nicely decorated with antiques to complete the charm of those simpler times.
You can expect to see bald eagles frequently throughout the day, up close and personal, as well as the large pileated woodpeckers. Smaller birds are also in abundance, and occasional visits from deer, wild turkeys, grouse, fox, & rabbits.
A large home is also on the property. It is available for rent separately (VRBO #307131) or in combination with the cabin. A screened gazebo overlooking the lake sits between the two.
Bald eagles had a nest here for 12 years. In 2011, the nest went down in a storm, but the eagles still hang out here every day. That gives you a clue about the privacy and tranquility of this idyllic spot. As you relax on the front deck, the eagles will come and go from their favorite tree between you and the lake.
A gently sloping path leads down to the lake between majestic pine trees. (Accessible by golf cart if you have mobility problems).
Dock, rowboat, canoe, paddle-boat & 2 kayaks are included at no extra charge. You are welcome to bring your own boat and tie it up at our dock. 14' aluminum boat with 9.9hp motor ($150/wk) available for rent. New for 2015 are an electric motorized kayak ($150/wk) and a kids electric motorized "fun boat" with water cannon ($150/wk). Various types of pontoon boats are available for rent from a local dealer, including delivery.
The cabin is non-smoking inside for the comfort of our guests. Strictly no fireworks because they frighten the eagles & foxes that live here. No pets. We don’t want the eagles or foxes to frighten Fido, or vice-versa.
There is a picnic table, a gas grill and a firepit just outside the cabin and a second firepit next to the dock. Local firewood is provided. No need to purchase or transport wood.
Our American guests have hailed from New York to Florida, California to Oregon, Brazil to Alaska. Others have come from England, France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Spain & Japan. We do our best to make your visit enjoyable. Our expanding list of repeat customers is a good omen.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2004
We bought this property because of its unique private atmosphere and the active eagle nest in the middle of the yard. There is a magical quality about this property that seems like you are in your own little world.
Privacy, Privacy, Privacy. Direct access to the largest lake in the area, with great fishing. Eagle watching any day of the year. Other birds & wildlife also live in our woods. In June 2012 a baby fox was visiting the cabin daily and timidly coming within 15 feet of the guests! It sat and watched me curiously as I did yard work. When I talked softly, it approached closer. How cool is that!
I have been doing VRBO for ten years or so and we have had many wonderful experiences, however I have never dealt with an owner who was more responsive, thorough and kind. Anyone who chooses to rent this cabin will be helped along every step of the way and impressed with the excellent customer service!
We stayed in May with our 3 boys (5, 8, & 10) and had a great time. The cabin was cute and had everything we needed (just bring food). The owner was very responsive and helpful. Having access to the canoes, paddle boats, and kayaks was an added bonus and were used a lot by the boys.
It is a hike up and down the hill to the lake, so be mindful of that if you are going to be making 500 trips back and forth daily carrying lots of fishing gear, like we did (was a sore old man afterwards).
We will definitely be coming back!
We rented both cabins for a long weekend to spend with our family -three grown, married children and two little babies. The accommodations were perfect - clean, well-maintained, the kitchen was well-stocked, and the whole home was warm and inviting, and the additional cabin gave us plenty of room so all had some privacy as well. The dock was great to tie our fishing boat to, as well as to sit on and enjoy the view - we appreciated the use of the kayak, we swam and loved the amazing sunsets. Jim was accessible with questions and stopped by to see if everything was as expected. The beds were comfortable, the deck provided a gorgeous view and a comfortable place to read, enjoy nature, and listen to the birds. We enjoyed a trip into Siren to do a little shopping, family members golfed at two area championship golf courses, we also visited the little coffee/gift shop and book store in Webster. Beautiful area, close by little towns, but yet in a quiet, beautiful area. It was a lovely home and cabin - Thank you for a relaxing, comfortable, great get-away - the whole family wants to make it again next year!
Stayed here as a family of 4 (with two older teenage boys) for 6 nights in mid-August. Jim was helpful in getting us settled in and telling us about the local wildlife. We saw and heard eagles everyday and Jim was helpful in letting us know what they were doing. We also saw a very skittish fox that came by at night and a very big woodpecker just outside the front window one day. The lake has a fair number of homes but most seemed empty while we were there so it was very private. Even though there was another family in the house nearby we hardly ever saw them. We did a lot of canoeing and kayaking and used the paddleboat a bit. We had two days of rain but had fun passing the time doing puzzles and crosswords. There's a café with wifi in Webster (5 minute drive) that we visited to check our email and have a coffee. We also went to nearby Siren to see a movie and walked a little of the Gandy Dancer trail into Minnesota. Was worried about mosquitoes but it was never an issue and we didn't need to use bug spray. The cabin is basic but had everything we needed. Everyone had a great time.
We spent 3 nights in this adorable cabin in July. What a great get-away! The property is just beautiful! The lake access was so convenient and everything we needed was provided. My kids (7 & 10) really enjoyed kayaking and canoeing. We saw a couple bald eagles during our stay, a fox, and adorable little chipmunk.
The kitchen is fully stocked, there was nothing I needed & didn't have. Cabin is set up well, with large living room area full of windows overlooking large trees & lake beyond.
This cabin is very clean and comfortable. There were absolutely no signs of any indoor critters and everything was in working order. Jim was very attentive to any needs that arose. The only negative was that the house that is rented next door is rather close and if young kids or loud adults are renting the other property, it is noticeable because the gazebo and path to the lake are shared. It's not a huge deal, just be aware that it is not completely secluded. We used the canoes and kayaks, swam, and relaxed. Enjoyed the eagles during the day and the fox that came by most evenings. Recommended.
Bald Eagles nest nearby. Active eagle-watching. Golf cart available at no charge for adults with mobility problems. Fish cleaning station with running water.
