There is no other word I can think of to describe this location other than simply stunning! The venue is perfect for weddings! My husband and I were married June 29th at the elegant Whispering Pines Estate and had our reception at The Barn. It was perfect! Why would you consider hosting your wedding here?
1) Laurie & Spencer are the very helpful & accommodating owners of Whispering Pines & The Barn. They genuinely care about your wedding & provide you with helpful advice, definitely not overbearing. Had it not been for Laurie's attention to detail, my guests would have sat in the dark during dinner (there weren't lights in the front of the house). They are two people you can count on to go the extra mile to make your day special.
2) You get to stay at the wedding venue & set-up as soon as you check in. I don't know how difficult it would have been to have only a few hours to set-up and take-down
3) The Barn & Whispering Pines are next door to each other. My bridal party and I stayed at The Barn & my parents stayed at Whispering Pines. It's great to have everyone at the same location, especially when getting ready so you don't have to worry about tracking anyone down 4) Marcos- he is the property caretaker and SO helpful! He saved the day many times, setting up lights, bringing out the chairs, identifying outlets.
5) The chairs and tables are already there! No hassle with renting out the heavy equipment
6) It is gorgeous! :)
Very comfortable house, we love this place!
The small kids have a lot of fun for just playing the sleds in the big front yard.
We had a delightful weekend in a beautiful setting
This was our second time here at this property, and it was amazing once again! The property is absolutely fantastic and Laurie and Erin are also very sweet and accommodating. Thanks agin for a wonderful retreat.
The only thing that could have made this place better would have been more snow! The property is so perfect for a winter getaway. You can even sled on the large property, but unfortunately for us, most the snow was gone. I would also recommend bringing extra towels for the hot tub outside. This house was well stocked with anything you could need and had lots of great thought and detail put into the amenities (like shampoo, etc available in case you forgot, detailed instructions for spa, grill was clean). If we have a large group again, we would definitely stay at this property.
This was our second time at the farmhouse estate, the first back in 2014 around the same time. With snow on the ground this year, the stay was better than ever! We had a total of 12 adults (4 couples) and one 7 month old child and everyone has plenty of room to bunk down for the two nights we were there. The kitchen in the main house is open and spacious as is the living room, making both ideal places to hang out or plan adventures. The yard has a small sledding hill which we used and we all felt like 10 year old a again. The loft over the garage is also a great open space where the late night owls can play games while the early birds get their sleep in the main house. Lastly, the jacuzzi is great - located right next to the main house, and there is ample parking, (we had 4 SUVs comfortably parked in the main drive). However, there are a few potential cons for travelers:
1. The master bed is quite soft and slightly misshapen. If you like a soft bed, this may not be an issue.
2. The heat that comes through the house can feel like the fires of hell at times! So either watch the thermostat or open some windows.
3. The game room in the basement is serviceable, but needs updating.
4. The stairway from the ground to second level in the main house is quite steep, narrow, and carpeted. So watch your steps!
Outside of those little nits, the house is a steal at the rental price for large groups. It's centrally located close to grogercies and attractions. We've stayed twice and will likely stay again - Laurie is easy to communicate with and prompt with responses. Couldn't ask for a better spot in Big Bear!
The home is beautiful and perfectly maintained. Bring your whole family! Plenty of space for everyone. The yard is incredible! You don't have to go anywhere! There is a hill in your own back yard that is perfect for sledding. Kids of all ages will love it. I couldn't ask for anything more. This was our second visit to this home and we'll be back for a third!!! Thank you to Laurie and her dedicated team.
